“I’m pregnant. Maybe I should get rid of it.” Thea Anneth was betrayed by her own best friend, trapped in a hotel room with a man she didn’t even know. That night left her pregnant—and later, she gave birth to twins. At first, she wanted to end the pregnancy, but in the end, she chose to keep the babies and raise them on her own. She endured everything for her children, hiding the true identity of their father. But fate brought her face-to-face once more with the man she had met that night—Daniel, who turned out to be a CEO and now her boss. So, will Anneth continue to keep the secrets she has been hiding all along? And what if that man discovers that the little angels are, in fact, his own flesh and blood?

1. Pregnant
“I’m pregnant, Alice.” “What, you’re pregnant? And then?” “I think I have to abort it.” “Are you crazy?” said a woman, none other than Alice, Anneth’s close friend. Anneth remained silent, listening to her friend’s chatter. She only stared with empty eyes. A bitter smile curved on her lips. “Then, what should I do?” she said in a desperate tone. “Find that man to take responsibility, I’ll help you?!” said Alice firmly. Anneth stayed silent, looking at her friend with teary eyes. “That’s impossible,” said Anneth with a bitter smile, as if she felt all her efforts would be in vain. “You have to believe! That man must still be around here!” Anneth fell silent, staring at Alice who looked at her gently. The touch of her friend’s hand made her feel calm; Alice held her hand tightly. “Thank you, Alice. In that case, if I can do it alone, I will raise this child until they grow up.” *** Four years later, Anneth had already left her parents’ house. Now she was living in an apartment with her twin children. Not because her parents had driven her out, but because she no longer had the right to live in that house after her crown had been taken by a man she didn’t know. Her parents had been deeply disappointed in her. And at that moment she decided to leave. “Nicole, Nate, Mommy is going to work now. Stay with the nanny, okay?” Anneth approached her two children and kissed them one by one. “It’s okay, right?” she asked softly. Her son and daughter nodded, as if they already understood that she was going to work. “Later Mommy will buy you toys, do you want them?” “Nicole wants them.” “Nate wants too!” A smile curved on Anneth’s lips. Somehow, she felt so happy seeing her children already grown up now. “Alright, Nicole. Mommy will buy toys later. Wait for Mommy to come home, okay?!” Nicole and Nate nodded quickly, then continued playing with the nanny there. Anneth exhaled slowly, then stood up and hurried out of her own apartment. “It’s been more than two years,” Anneth muttered. “I still can’t find their father,” she whispered. She shook her head and quickly entered the elevator. “I hope you can meet your father someday, Nate, Nicole, even if just for a moment,” she murmured. Tears suddenly fell, she exhaled roughly and quickly wiped them from her cheeks. “I can’t be like this in front of my children.” In just half an hour, Anneth had arrived at a building in the city. She got out of her car and stepped inside. But as she entered, she bumped into a man, making her body lose balance and almost fall. Luckily, the man caught her body. Anneth held onto his arm, closing her eyes. A moment later, she opened them and stared at the man without saying anything. That man’s face? “This man?” Anneth thought, clearly remembering the man who had slept with her in the hotel. A handsome man, wearing a shirt, and drunk at that time. “Miss? Are you okay?” the man asked. Anneth still stayed silent, recalling his face. A face so familiar, her eyes narrowing. “His face is not unfamiliar, could it be that the man back then was him?” she thought. “Miss?” Being called twice startled Anneth, snapping her out of her thoughts. She straightened her body upright. “Ehm, sorry, I didn’t mean to.” The man only cleared his throat lightly. “Be careful next time,” he said before leaving. Anneth froze there, staring at the man’s back until he disappeared from her sight. She recalled the incident years ago, that hot night, and a drunk man who had taken everything from her. “Does he remember it?” she murmured. “Hey! Why are you standing here! Let’s work! I’ll treat you later!” Alice said while patting Anneth’s shoulder. That startled Anneth and made her blink. “Oh, yes,” Anneth replied awkwardly, occasionally glancing at the exit where no one was anymore. “What are you looking at? Let’s go!” Alice pulled Anneth’s hand, and Anneth followed her friend. She glanced back occasionally. “If it really was him, why didn’t he look for the woman he once slept with?” she thought. Anneth just stayed quiet, placing her bag into a drawer prepared for her. She exhaled roughly without realizing it. “Oh, by the way, the owner of this hotel came here earlier. Looks like he’s looking for someone.” Suddenly Anneth froze, glancing at Alice and processing what her friend just said. “Looking? What do you mean?” Alice looked at Anneth, smiling meaningfully and shrugging her shoulders. “I don’t know. Oh right … what about the father of your children? Any signs?” Anneth fell silent for a moment, exhaling roughly. “None. Better forget about the father of my children, besides I’ve gotten used to my life now,” she said, forcing a fake smile. Alice stood there, placing her hands on Anneth’s shoulders with a sympathetic face. “Anneth, if I knew where that man was, I would beat him black and blue. And … that b***h of a woman should’ve died back then! How dare she trap you just to steal your boyfriend, it’s disgusting!” Anneth chuckled softly. “Alice, I should be the one angry here. Why are you the one mad?” “Because I’m so pissed at her, especially since Jack believed Angel!” “Enough! It’s been a long time already, come on, let’s work!” Anneth quickly went to her workplace and carried out her duty to provide the best service in this hotel. She didn’t want her friend to keep bringing that up. From her ex-boyfriend who didn’t believe her, being trapped by her close friend who then took her boyfriend away. It was really heavy, but she didn’t want to drag this problem longer and chose to live alone. “Ehm! Honey, look at your ex. Now she’s just a hotel maid? What for, really?” mocked a woman who had just entered the hotel. Anneth turned toward the voice, staring at the couple there. She squinted at the woman in dislike, then hissed softly. “Why? Are you jealous? At least I work, unlike you who just relies on your rich boyfriend?” she said with a sigh. “Honey! Look at her! She dares to say that in front of me!” “Say it again, are you still holding a grudge against your friend here?” said a man, none other than her ex-boyfriend, Jack. Anneth lifted her head, glancing at Angel. She smiled bitterly; that woman’s face was utterly disgusting to her now. Back then, Angel had been like family to her. “So what? Am I wrong? Who wouldn’t be disappointed with someone who trapped me back then? Do you need more proof? You even believed Angel.” “Anneth, you better forget about that problem, and … throw away all your grudge against Angel.” Anneth froze, digesting Jack’s words. She turned her face away, smiling bitterly. “Angel, all you think about is Angel. Did you ever think about me back then? I was broken and … you just left with Angel.” “I should be the one saying that. Why are you blaming me?” Anneth narrowed her eyes, laughing silently as if she couldn’t say anything in front of Jack. “Give me one room, I don’t want to prolong this matter,” Jack said, ending the conversation. Anneth exhaled roughly, staying silent as she handed him a room key. “Enjoy yourself,” she said with a faint smile. Jack ignored Anneth, then pulled Angel’s hand and left. Anneth only gave a bitter smile, realizing how meaningless her two year relationship with Jack had been. “I should have understood why he always sided with Angel from the start,” she muttered.
