Second Chance
' Mia! ' It felt like there was a voice in my head. Was I dreaming? I must be dreaming.
' *wake up! our mate is here*' mate, what mate I rejected, Noah?
' *not him our real mate*’ why was the voice in my head answering my questions and why do I have a headache why am I in pain?
' *I am not just a random voice Mia, I am your wolf* ' my wolf? I asked, confused. I thought I didn't have one.
' *ohh do not be dramatic because I came out did not* ' late is an understatement. Everyone got their wolf's when they turned 16 or 17.
' *look at it this way, you are special*' I rolled my eyes. Yes, that is what they all say.
' *ahh not that special i***t your one of a kind* '
'Yeah right, that makes me feel so much better, I said sarcastically.
' *wake up please I want to see our mate*’ I told you already I rejected him.
"Open your eyes, Mia," a dark voice said, reluctantly opening my eyes. I was met with a pair of blue eyes and a worried face. Why did Olivia sound like a man?
"Olivia, what is wrong and why did your voice sound weird?" she suddenly looked nervous. She turned to face the owner of the dark voice behind her and the temperature of the room dropped to zero. Standing behind my best friend was Alpha Liam, the youngest alpha to take over the blood-red moon pack, the largest pack in the world. He is ruthless and drop-dead gorgeous, he had steel grey eyes. A sharp jawline and black hair.
' *Mate* ' my wolf said excitedly.
Is he our mate? We were better off with Noah. He is huge and scary.
' * mate* '
I shook my head, no no, no he is not our mate.
.
"Mia," Olivia said in a shaky voice, and I looked at her. I have never seen Olivia this scared had she is always brave.
"Liv is everything alright". I tried to make my voice sound strong but failed. A tear rolled down her face and I was wondering what he did to Olivia to have her this scared.
"I would like to be alone with my mate now," a booming voice said, and Olivia jumped in fear. I frowned and looked at Liam.
"You're scaring her," I said, and he just smirked.
"It's not me who she is scared of, it's her mate," he said, standing close to me. I felt the heat radiating off him and I wanted to close my eyes and curl on his lap. Wait? Where did that come from?
"What do you mean Liv doesn't have a mate," I said, confused. He just smiled.
"She does now, and so do you", I shook my head.
"I don't have a mate. I just rejected him," he looked at me with an expression that told me mentioning Noah was a huge mistake.
"Mm, you mean Noah your brother," he said in a bored tone, like talking about Noah is as boring as talking about the weather.
"Adaptive Brother, there is a difference," I said, and his eyes got darker as he smirked.
"You've got a little spark in you. I know he's your adoptive brother and I also know that I don't want you anywhere near him," he said, and I just looked at him dumbfounded.
"That's impossible because I live with him," he growled in warning.
"Move to the packhouse" and I shook my head. That was not going to happen. Noah's goons lived there. It was like following a lion into his den. Well, in this case, Hyenas/ Vulture.
"I'm not going anywhere, I'm staying with my family; you've been here for two minutes and you're already trying to control me", a low growl came from Liam.
" I see " was all he said before walking out of the room. As soon as he stepped out, Olivia rushed back into the room with red-swollen eyes.
"What happened Liv, why were you crying, " I asked her, concerned.
"Nothing Mia, can we just go home," she said sadly. I got off the bed and the nurse walked in.
"Ms. Wixx," a young woman walked in wearing scrabs. She looked nervous, and I had a good idea why she felt like that.
"You're free to go," said I looking down. I wanted to ask why she could not look us in the eye when Olivia pulled me. I had not fully recovered, but I guess it did not matter.
"Liv, where are we going and what the hell is going on?" Olivia stopped and looked at me with pleading eyes.
"Do you trust me? " I nodded at her.
"Good I'll tell you when we get to my car", I followed her to her not only because I trusted her, but she was my only ride home unless I wanted a ride from Noah, which was something close to impossible.
"No will you tell me, " I say when I get in the car.
"We're leaving ", I looked at her confused.
"What since when, I thought you said you didn't want to leave your family behind," I asked her. I had planned to run away the second I was done with school, which was not long since it was our last week of the second semester. I have already had my bags packed under my bed.
"Since I've realized that I'm f****d ", I looked at her as if she had grown a second head.
"Can you just spill it already" I shouted at her?
"I'm mated to Liam's beta who also happens to be his brother," she says, frustrated.
"And if you haven't noticed you mated with the dark lord himself", I shook my head.
"I don't have a mate, if you don't remember, I rejected my mate in the hallway and he rejected me too and left as if nothing ever happened, " I said, trying to hide the hurt from my face and voice.
"I don't know if your stupid or just delusional". I rolled my eyes at her.
"I'm neither. I'm just saying that second mates don't exist, they are like fairies " Olivia looked at me like I was the dumbest person she ever met in her life.
"You do hear the s**t that is coming out of your mouth, right"? I nodded.
"Okay, I guess using fairies wasn't a good idea, but you got what I was trying to say. "
' * I can not believe that you said that you do realize that you are a mystical creature, right*'
my Wolf said in an embarrassed tone.
"Ohh shoot me for using the wrong words" Olivia just shook her head. The school was close to the park grounds just a few miles away.
"I'm going to drop you off at home, take the things you need and meet me in the forests," Olivia said. I did as she said when she dropped me off at home. I was about to go downstairs when I heard my parents arguing in my dad's study. I tried to quietly sneak past them when the door flew open.
"Where are you going, " my dad said, looking at the duffel bag around my shoulder.
"I'm spending the week with Olivia. " It was a lie I was going to be with Olivia. He nodded and when back inside his study I ran downstairs and ran to the Forest, which wasn't far from my house or Olivia's house. I ran till I found Olivia's car. I went inside.
"So, what is the plan," I asked her once inside the car.
"We ran and never looked back," she said.
