The nurse’s face twisted in anger, as she blew out a breath, “she keeps sneaking in everyday and runs around asking for a doctor yet she has no money to pay for any of the things she’s asking for.
“Let her go,” I said softly to the nurse, “I’ll take her outside.”
“But,” the nurse looked hesitantly between me and the older woman, a crease settling between her brows, “what if she runs away again? It’s already the second time today.
I don’t know how she keeps getting past security.”
“I’ll make sure she doesn’t come back, you don’t have to worry.”
I remained silent as we walked to the parking lot, the older woman in between Lily and I. Despite being forced to follow a total stranger, she didn’t say a word, not even to complain and just lowered her head the whole time.
