“Turn up the heat,” I said to the driver as the woman and I settled fully into the back seat, while Lily moved smoothly into the seat at the front.
“Yes, Luna.”
“How old is your son?” I asked, after giving her a little time to adjust.
“He’s fifteen,” she replied slowly.
“So, a sophomore.”
“No, he’s not,” her face hardened slightly, I wouldn’t have noticed if I hadn’t been looking closely, “he’s not in high school.”
I paused, exchanging glances with Lily through the side mirror, before turning back to her, “why not?”
