Her brilliant plan, it turned out, was a ‘trade secret’, which was just a fancy way of saying she actually had no plan.
I pushed aside a branch to prevent it from messy up my hair as we walked through what seemed to be an abandoned section of the park close to the hospital.
“Are we close?” I asked quietly, we had been walking for at least twenty minutes and I still hadn’t caught sight of anything resembling a place where people could stay.
“Yes,” she grunted, bending and grabbing a snake that had been slithering past before swiftly tearing its head off and throwing it into a nearby bush.
I gaped at her as she continued walking as if nothing had happened, the rest of the snake swinging along with her movements as she held it in her hand.
