Chapter 07 Should I just protect her?!

“A big one at that” Kayla said rolling her eyes.

“Kayla stop, you are being rude to him for no reason” Ashley cautioned her sister.

“Sis he is a bad person, don’t get married to him” she said.

“Yes bad enough that I will fry you and eat you up breaking each of your bones “ Xander said moving closer to Kayla trying to scare her.

“I’m not a seven year old kid mister young monster, get out of my sight and go start the car” Kayla said.

“Is she really your sister?” Xander said as he felt his pride been dragged in the mud.

Ashley could not help but laugh.

Xander drove them out of the mansion with Ashley sitting at the front with him and Kayla at the back.

She never stopped staring at Xander and when ever their eyes met in the front mirror, she wound made a killer sign to Xander meaning she is going to slit his throat clean.

Xander scoffed and continue driving them to Dreamway.

On getting to the school, Kayla hug her sister and advise her to take a taxi home instead.

“It is okay Kay, I promise to be careful” Ashley said to her.

She smiled and waved to her till she went inside the school premises.

Xander got the door for Ashley but she refused to get inside.

“So you really want to take a taxi like your sis advised you to?” He said.

“No, I need to go somewhere actually “ she said.

“And where is that? “ he asked.

“I should get a phone already” she said and rolled her eyes at him.

“Oh that’s right” he said.

“I can as well take you to the mall and get you a phone that befits our status not you walking alone to a random store” Xander said.

“No I’ll be fine, you can leave” Ashley said and crossed the road to the other side.

“Fine, why do I care anyway?” He said and hopped into his car.

Ashley went to the mall and got herself a good phone and her sister’s too since Mrs.Grimes has credit her account already.

Having no one to call, she sigh and decided to store her number on Kayla’s phone while she did the same on hers too.

She smiled and stood by the road hoping to get a taxi to take her home but then a car parked abruptly in front of her and a lady in mask threw a letter on her face before driving off.

Ashley was really shocked but she manage to pick up the letter, she tore the envelope and read the content which says

“Secret of the family, you will end up dead as well... run for your life” she read it and dropped the letter in shock then a biker rode along her side and hit her with an iron rod.

It caught her unaware and she could not evade the attack, she collapsed on the floor as blood filled her dress.

Fortunately,Michael was driving across the street when he saw a biker hit Ashley with a weapon.

I was on my way to the office when I saw Xander’s girl standing by the roadside and smiling at whatever she was holding.

I wonder if she can now go out as she pleases, that will really help my mission as I would be able to call her out sometimes.

I smiled and pulled up so I can go meet her when I saw a biker riding so roughly and fast across the streets, I was so scared and worried that she should not run into the bike lost in her thoughts.

Before I could call out her name, I saw the biker raise up a weapon and hit Ashley with it and in seconds she was down on the floor.

I rushed up to her and check her wound which looks deep so I used my handkerchief to press down on her wound to avoid further blood loss.

When I saw people approaching and the place was getting crowded already, I removed my jacket and tie up her wound before carrying her to the car.

The media is the fastest means of gossip.

Knowing fully well that I can’t take her to the hospital, I took her home and called my doctor on the way.

He was already there with his assistant when I got home and so I carried Ashley in my arms into the house.

I place her on the bed and the doctor asked me to go out while they treat her.

“Who could have done this to her?” I thought to myself not minding the blood stain on my shirt.

I decided to put a call through to Xander and when he heard what happened, he hung up on me without saying anything.

“She is out of danger now” I heard the doctor report to me and I dropped the phone.

I opened the door gently and saw her sleeping peacefully with bandage on her head already.

She must be hurting so bad right now, i approach the bed and sit beside her.

I caress her hair and staring at how beautiful she is.

“ All the good things is for Xander I guess” I said in a low voice.

“You are too pretty to be wasted, I wish to protect you if you want... just say no to the marriage “ I said into her ears and left her side when I heard sounds of car screech inside.

Even if she is unconscious right now, I was sure she definitely heard what I said.

ᴀsʜʟᴇʏ

I opened my eyes slightly and my vision was blurry considering the weight of the weapon I was attacked with. I saw Xander’s friend look out from the window and that was how I saw his shirt stained with my blood, then he left the room.

Thank goodness he saved me on time, but what was he talking about anyway? I’m not surprised with the wasting part because I received the same letter before I was attacked.

Could he possibly be the one that orchestrated the attack? No I don’t think so, why then would he save me and bring me here... yeah talking about this place where am I? I thought to myself.

Then the door kicked open and Xander rushed over to my side looking so regretful and angry with himself I think.

He caresses my face with care and tears forming in his eyes.

What? Don’t tell me the mighty and pompous young master is shedding tears for me?

I tried to move and open my eyes then I saw him turn his face away getting rid of the tears.

I opened my eyes but didn’t say anything to him.

The first thing he said cracked me up though.

“Your sister is going to fry me up alive” he said to me and I made a short laugh which later caused me a headache.

Michael too came inside, he has not changed his clothes yet.

“What happened to her? Who did this to her?” I heard him roar at Michael and that was really scary, he’s always have a bad temper.

“I was going to the office when I saw her get attacked by a biker” he said.

“And what were you doing when she was getting attacked uh?” He yelled at Michael again and I could see Michael was getting angry too.

“Hey man I’m not your family bodyguard okay, am just a lawyer not to keep eyes on everyone of the family” Michael yelled at him back and left the room angrily.

Well I must admit, Michael really tried by bringing me here to treat me on time.

Xander’s expression revealed he felt bad for talking to Michael that way and he turned back to me.

“He is right he is just a lawyer, I am to be blamed, I shouldn’t have left you alone to go by yourself” he said with feeling of sincerity in his voice.

I tried to sit up and he helped me instead.

He made a heavy sigh and sat facing me.

“I don’t understand why you have to put me through much troubles unlike the rest, if you are going to die why stressing me this much?” He said to me.

“Saying that right to my face is so cruel Xander” I said to him.

“I’m sorry, I got you into this mess” he said and that really melt my heart.

“It’s not your fault too, I was adamant to walk alone even when you offered to drop me home”

“No matter what I promise not to leave you alone again, I’ve made that mistake twice now” he said and I felt my cheek flush.

“Don’t get it wrong, not emotionally attached cause I know you are one bucket of emotions” he said and I blushed.

“Let’s do this” he said.

“Do what?” I asked him.

“Let’s sign a contract instead, a marriage contract” he said and my mouth widened in shock.

“You are not going to tell me to say no to the wedding anymore?” I asked.

“ I don’t know why you wanna die so soon like this but for whatever reason it is, let’s both stay on our lane okay? Do not meddle into my personal affairs nor invade my privacy and please don’t try to fall in love with me” he said and when saying the last part, I could see the pain in his eyes.

“Okay” I said straight up avoiding his gaze.

“What about you? What are your terms and conditions of this marriage?”

“Me? I’m okay for now but once I find something, I will let you know” I said and he nod his head in approval.

Then Michael came in but this time around, he has changed his clothes.

“Thanks for the help, we should leave now” Xander said simply and carried me away from the room.

“But I can walk though” I whispered to Xander but he did not spare me a glance.

He place me gently on the car seat and drop my purse at the back.

“Oh I thought I lost that” I said smiling at my purse due to the fact that I kept the two cellphones inside it before reading the letter.

“Well your super hero saved your purse with you” he said with a strange face and I could tell he was still angry.

He shut the door and walked to the other side to enter the car also.

I don’t know what took my mind to the window upstairs and I saw Michael staring down at us.

I watch him as we left his mansion.

ᴛʜᴇ ʀᴏʏᴀʟ ᴘᴀʟᴀᴄᴇ

Princess Vivian is in a meeting with the prime minister,Mr.Grimes and few others when her phone rang.

“Excuse me please “ she said and left the scene.

“We did as instructed my lady “ the voice rang out from the phone.

“Okay well done” she said smiling.

“But ma’am, immediately we dropped the letter, she was attacked by a biker “ the female voice said.

“What? How is she? Hope it wasn’t a fatal accident with her?” She asked worriedly and biting her fingers.

“A man was around to save her but we didn’t wait around to check if she was okay”

“Okay, I will call you back” she said and disconnect the call.

They arrived at the mansion and Xander carried her in a bridal style.

The maids starts to gossip at the sight considering they have never seen the young master being so kind to a lady ever since they got here.

The maids are always replaced after each deaths so that explains why no one knows how the brides end up dying.

The first bride was found dead in her room, the second drowned in a swimming pool and the last one committed suicide as reported to the police.
