Episode 06 Dark household

“Die? Who is dying?” A voice said approaching us from afar.

I avert my gaze to where the voice came from and I saw a cool looking boy right with us already, he is our classmate too I guess cause I saw him in class earlier, he was among those who didn’t bulge when the principal mentioned the Grimes.

Rachel grab his hand and told him what I said.

“Why are you guys treating this as if it is some sort of a big deal” I asked impatient as I felt my throat going dry.

“Not a big deal?” The cool looking boy scoffed as he made his remark.

“Please Kayla you must stop your sister “ she said.

“ Why are you so concerned with their business? You just met her today anyway, you have no idea if she is with them in their evil deeds” he said straight up not minding how I will react.

“Yes I know we just met but trust me she is nice and different from them, we should let her know right?” Rachel said pleadingly and now I’m starting to loose my patience.

I saw the cool boy dip his hand inside his pocket, brought out his phone and swiped it up before he start typing fast on it.

He gave me the phone and I can see it’s some sort of article, I read it and the content shocked me as I almost dropped his phone.

“Wow seems she really doesn’t know” the boy said staring at me.

“Do you now understand why the rest of the classmates were scared to approach you talk more of befriending you” Rachel said to me and I ran off to class.

I started packing my bags and books ready to leave when the boy stopped me and Rachel snatched my bag away.

“What are you doing? I should go and warn my sister already” I said.

“No one is allowed to leave the school unless it is closing hour or a with a special letter from the principal and might be from the parent “ Rachel explained.

“I feel bad for my sis, she is innocent,she came back here just because of me” I said with my head down.

“It’s okay Kayla, we are going to be your friend okay? I and Jeremy” she said and I sniffed as I took glances at the so called Jeremy.

“You guys have nice names “ I said and they both chuckled.

We did a group hug and they both pat my back to stop crying.

It’s been over two hours already and Ashley is not back home yet now Xander was getting restless and troubled.

Wait don’t tell me she got kidn*pped already? I’m sure one of our haters got her... and she does not even have a phone.

I shouldn’t have left her on the road like that, what if something bad happened to her ?

I can’t help but think of what I did to her and how she is doing right now or where she could possibly be.

I picked my car key and swerved roughly out of the house.

Though I still don’t understand why I’m doing this, yeah I am just trying to prevent another death in the family, I don’t want her ghost haunting my sleep every night.

I thought to myself then my eyes caught her shoe in the car where she was sitting before I dropped her,

“That means she is walking barefooted right now? Damn this temper of yours Xander” I cussed out as I step hard on the accelerator.

Unfortunately I could not see her anywhere, I was driving back when I saw a dress stained with blood, it seems to be the dress she was wearing.

I stopped and picked it up then looked down into the sea in case she fell inside or someone shot her and dumped her in already. I can’t help but have these dangerous thoughts considering how much some people hate the Grimes.

I regret my actions and hopped into my car still trying to find her.

It was getting late already and two cars entered the big mansion.

Xander came out of his car while Kayla came down from the second car.

She saw Xander looking so down but she eyed him angrily and bump her fragile shoulder on Xander’s but she got hurt instead.

“Do you have your eyes at the back of your head?” Xander said to her and Kayla stood up.

“It’s very good you know where your eyes are” she replied coldly and head for the door.

Xander felt so embarrassed and asked the maids who she is.

“She is lady Ashley’s younger sister sir” she reported.

“She is just like her sister, innocent face but crazy attitude, it runs in the blood”

Before Kayla could open the door, it came open with Mrs.Grimes coming out.

Kayla got the same dread feeling she felt when she met the woman the other day, so she moved to a side and watch her walk up to Xander landing a resounding slap on his face.

“You bastard, where is Ashley “ she yelled at him.

Xander snapped out of the painful slap but slightly embarrassed.

“I could not find her” he replied.

Kayla heard everything and she got scared the more so she ran up to Mrs.Grimes to ask what is going on.

“Don’t worry baby Kayla, she will be fine” she said to her and left the scene.

She asked the guards to go out and look for her.

Xander scoffed and went inside angrily.

Mrs.Grimes statement replayed in Kayla’s head and it sounded so familiar as if someone had said the same thing to her years back. Strong headache hit her and her head started ringing as voices flooded her with flashes of blurred memories.

She almost fell but the maids got her and she stood upright.

She ran inside to stop Xander.

“What have you done to my sister you monster! Did you kill her too?” She yelled out her lungs at Xander.

Xander felt so bad hearing that from Ashley’s sister but he did nothing, he went to his room and slammed the door angrily.

Kayla wanted to invade his room and get her answers but then she heard things breaking, that scared her and she left the corridor.

Three cars were ready to drive out of the mansion to look for Ashley when she came walking inside alone.

Mrs.Grimes saw her and was surprised she is looking so healthy and unharmed.

“Where have you been since morning?” She yelled at her.

“Xander asked me to get out of his car so I got lost while trying to find my way home” she replied adding some lies, she can’t possibly mention the princess saving her and all.

“I knew it, that i***t is so heartless” she said changing her angry face immediately.

“Take her upstairs and take care of her” she said to the maids.

I went to my sister’s room first and I saw her buried her face in the pillow sobbing.

“Hey Kayla” i called out weakly considering I cried so much in my former house and lost my voice.

She sprang up and hug me really tight.

“I was so scared sis, I thought you have left me also and I’m going to end up alone in this world” she cried out.

“No silly girl, I will never leave you alone in this wicked world, I live for you only” I said patting her back while she cried on me.

After few minutes, she is fully calmed down and I decided to go freshen up but she pull me back to sit on the bed.

“Sis can we go back to how we were living before? I don’t want to stay here any longer, I read really bad comments about the Grimes today” she said to me.

I felt so disappointed to get my sister worried, she should not be hearing this kind of reports but I guess sooner or later she will find out since she has started going to school already.

“It’s okay Kayla, those are rumors and nothing else” I said assuring her.

“What? Those ain’t rumors, everyone at school knows about it why are you the only one that doesn’t know?” She said in protest.

“I know everything already Kayla, do you trust me?”

“Of course I do” she said and I caress her face.

“Then trust me, we will be fine” I said to her and the worried look deserted her.

I left for my room and decided to use the bathtub considering the stress I had today, I need to rest and take time to clear my head.

I relax my body in the bathtub as I closed my eyes only to have rush visions in my head.

A lady in pool of blood with people surrounding her and laughing wickedly.

I gasped and sit up in the bathtub.

“This house is doomed” I thought.

I changed into a comfortable night wear and then a maid came in with my food.

I whispered thanks to her and started eating immediately cause I was so hungry.

I received reports that she was back already, I felt happy hearing she’s safe and unharmed.

She probably hates me so much right now, well it is for the best at least if she hates me, she will say no to the marriage.

I thought and picked my Violin to play a song.

Ashley woke up early today as well and decided to help her sister prepare for school.

Kayla pleaded with her so much to accompany her to school today at least.

“Please sis, just today only” she cooed.

“Okay but I’ll have to ask Mrs.Grimes first” Ashley said and exit Kayla’s room.

On her way, she came across Xander and they both stopped taking further steps.

His face is full of worries ever since Ashley arrived in the house.

“You are free to cuss at me, stop holding it in girl” Xander said to her.

“I should thank you rather, for opening my eyes to what I could not see” Ashley said.

“That’s nice so when are you leaving?” Xander asked.

“Leaving to where?” Ashley questioned in return.

Then Mr.Grimes showed up from the corridor and met them talking to each other.

“I’m glad to know you now talk to each other” he said handing over his briefcase to his manager.

Ashley bowed to say her greetings and Xander too did the same.

“So What are you guys talking about?”

Xander and Ashley exchanges glances not knowing what to say but finally Ashley opened up.

“Actually my sister wants me to drop her off to school” she said.

“Really? Then you can go with Xander instead” he said.

At this point, they can’t refuse his order so they agreed and Mr.Grimes left for the palace.

Xander went to get the car ready while Ashley and Kayla came out of the house.

Kayla looked around but could not see her driver so she decided to ask her sister.

“Sis I can’t see the driver anywhere, can you drive a car?” She asked.

“Do you want me to?” She replied smiling mischievously.

“Your smile is scary enough, silly me to have forgotten you don’t know how to drive yet” she said.

Then Xander appeared to them and ask if they are ready.

“What? He will be driving us?” Kayla asked with an angry look.

“Yes, Mr.Grimes wants us to drop you off together” Ashley explained.

Kayla took glances at Xander as if ready to pounce on him any minute.

“The problem is not with me, what if he drops you off in the middle of the road again?” Kayla said throwing him an angry stare.

“ Seems someone is ready to drill holes on me” Xander said leaning his back on the car.
