“Your base stats are a reflection of the nature of your ability. You can increase these stats with the coins we get. You can only increase by a point for every fifty coins. Once all your stats leave the previous tens region, you level up and so do your abilities.”

“Even if that’s so, you shouldn’t have been able to level up that much,” Victor said.

“Well, that’s because I got a hundred coins for every life I saved in that test. And I used all 4000 of it to level up to three,” he said.

“But how do we catch up?” Karenia asked. “Your insight already the gives you the edge. Now you’re even way higher ranked.”

“By engaging in a lot of side quests. I know a few that could fetch us a lot of coins. Tricky they are, but I think we can manage,” Kiro assured them.

“I know I shouldn’t be saying this, but this looks like a whole of fun,” Karenia said.

“And that’s why you got an intelligence of two,” Victor goaded.

“Guys, we’re being followed,” Kiro said. There was no one in sight but he was sure of it. Not only that, he had a very strong idea of who it might be. The sickening aura that filled the air brought back some nasty memories. Memories he wished he never had to remember.

“Another Riser?” Victor asked. “We can take him on. We have---”

“Even with all of us here at Grimsley, we wouldn’t be able to take him on. He goes by the name Jovak. He’s currently a level twenty.”
