Amber's POV's
?? This girl is on fire... this girl is on fire...??
With a music background on my ear, I'm sitting on the school bus looking outside the window. We decided to go back home and cancel our camping. It's all thanks to me and Noah, who've disappeared the whole night that makes everyone worried, they even called the police to help search for us and luckily they found us so now we go back to our home. But still i have to be ready for whatever's gonna happen to me when I'm back to school on Monday.
Today is sunday, since we don't have to continue our camping, so i decided to go straight to the hospital to visit my sweet Emma, but once i reached there, they told me that Emma was discharged from there last night and she was at her home right now so how do I meet her, my phone is still off i better charge it now and after my phone is fully charged, i decided to go visit to her house directly. When i walk through the hallway and my eyes are focusing on my phone trying to call her phone but she didn't pick up so i try to message her and boom i crash with somebody and fall to the ground until my phone screen is cracked and also my glasses. Thanks to the person who stepped on it, now i really don't know how to see anymore because my glasses are the most important thing to me right now more than my phone, without my glasses i couldn't even use my phone and currently my vision is blurred i really don't know anymore what else could be worse than all of the bad things that happen to me everyday since i met Noah until now, such a bad luck.
"Oh sorry, my apologies to you miss are you alright?"
"Ugh yeah I'm okay" He helped me up and i still can see his white coat clearly but not his face and I'm hundred percent sure that he's one of the doctors who's working in this hospital.
"Ah sorry about the phone and your glasses, looks like it's broken" he picked up my phone and glasses then handed it over to me.
"Wait what, how bad it is because i couldn't see anything without my glasses"
"Ups, forgive me it looks like you couldn't use it anymore, you've to get new glasses and change your phone screen"
"Oh no, how could i afford to buy new glasses and repair my phone screen, i have no money at the moment, i just paid my tuition yesterday."
"Oh I'm sorry to hear that, don't worry I'm responsible for it, I'll help you no matter how much it costs you to fix your phone and glasses"
"No no, i know it's my fault because i was too busy focusing on the phone while walking, I'm not supposed to do that, i should've been looking straight while walking so i won't hit anybody in front of me"
"No, it's alright I'm okay and you're not, so i take responsibility, but i have a meeting with my patients right now and i will be free in one hour could you please wait for me, i will ask the nurse to accompany you to the waiting room, you could just sit there for awhile and let me finish my job alright"
"Alright then, thanks"
"No problem."
An hour later...
"Excuse me Miss-?"
"Amber, Amber Standford and you?"
"My name is Ethan and I'm a doctor surgeon and also an eyes specialist what about you?"
"Wow, sounds like you have a great job doctor"
"Kind of and I'm very grateful for it"
"Good for you so what are we gonna do now after me waiting here for an hour"
"I'm really sorry for waiting, i really am"
"It's alright, but this is the second time you apologize which you don't have to, because i don't really need an apology. Doctor i really don't have time, i need to go to visit my friend and now i couldn't even call her and my vision is completely blurred"
"That's why I ask you to wait, in order to take responsibility for breaking your glasses and cracking your phone"
"Yeah but how?"
"Listen lemme tell you something"
"I'm listening"
"Alright, in order to be responsible since i am an ophthalmologist so I specialize in eye and vision care, i could cure your eye problem for free"
"For real?"
"Real"
"For free?"
"Hundred percent free"
"How are you gonna cure my eye?"
"Hold on let me check your eyes to figure out which procedure i can do next to help cure your blurred vision"
"Alright thanks"
"No biggie"
He began to check my eyes.
"Alright , we have the result here and i could tell that you have severe myopia or nearsightedness, it's a common vision condition in which you can see objects near you clearly, but objects farther away are blurry am i right?"
"Yes that's my problem these past three years since the first time I'm starting my high school program, i was study so hard and reading too many books every nights then i feels like my vision is not as clear as it used to, so i went to optic for check and they suggested me to wear lense or glasses so i picked up some glasses for minus, but i never really check to doctor and i don't even know about this myopia so what you gonna do to my eyes?"
"Don't worry it's not a big issue, we could do Lasik and it can be done today it won't be long"
"What is Lasik?"
"Lasik, commonly referred to as laser eye surgery or laser vision correction, is a type of refractive surgery for the correction of myopia, and any other eye problems since it is in the cornea so would you like to do it?"
"What, surgery no no no i couldn't do any surgery, i have to go to school and work tomorrow i couldn't afford to skip school or off my job since nobody can replace me tomorrow, because im sure it will take a lot of time for recovery"
"No no, it's not like what you were thinking, if you wanted an immediate recovery period for LASIK generally lasts six to twelve hours, but it varies by patient, depending on several factors. But still it won't take too long, you can trust me and leave everything to me, you can be free from glasses or contact lenses after the treatment"
"Wow, the technology nowadays is amazing, alright whatever it is just do it doctor i trust you and i would be very grateful, thank you so much your so kind"
"No problem let's do it then shall we?"
"Okay let's do it"
The surgery began, the first step he gave drops to numb my eyes. He uses an instrument called a microkeratome or a Femtosecond laser to make a thin flap in my cornea. He'll peel it back and use another laser to reshape the tissue underneath. Then, he'll put the flap back in place, and the surgery is done.
The LASIK procedure itself usually takes about 20 minutes. Interesting right.
To be continued.
