My mate stirred beside me. Unlike most days, when she had begun to turn to me for morning fun, she attempted to slip from the bed unnoticed. Just as she had the day before. Something was amiss, and I did not like it. I waited, pretending to sleep, and my wolf snarled within my mind, unsettled at the possibility our new mate was hiding things from us. We had waited so very long for our fated mate, I had even given up all hope she existed. I think at one point there was a chance I would have forgiven her anything.
