My mind was running wild as every time. I felt like vanishing from this world, from this dark world. The truth, or the so-called one, slapped me so hard that I wish I never realized that. Why does every good thing, every hope, every light, turn into an awful one, into confusion, into blackness?
After few steps, while my mind was absent. With no previous warning, Ruby turned to the right, and started laughing in joy.
“Yaaah! Magic show! You cannot imagine how much I love magic! WOW! How could he do that?!”
I did not know what actually was happening around me. I heard some cheers, claps, kids laughing… Are we in some amusement park? Or maybe at the entrance of some circus? But she told me that we would go to the beach… Where am I?
-Ruby! … I called. Ruby?! … Ruby? … Where are you? please don’t play those games with me… Ruby? … Are you still here? …
-Are you looking for someone? Replied a strange voice.
-I’m sorry, but I can’t find my friend. Her name’s Ruby…
-Oooh! What a disaster! Can you describe her to me? Maybe I’d try looking for her. Added the strange voice.
-Eh… Well, she’s a black woman. I think not really tall. Eh…
I could not describe her more… I did not see her… I cannot see her…
-Oupsi! I think you lost! Ha! Ha!
-Eh… I was still trying to imagine her. Was she wearing a cap? I guess not. I don’t know how her hair looks like. Maybe it was in a shape of a bun? Or maybe she is bold? Or she has some short haircut? What color was she wearing?...
-Wanna play a game? Questioned the unknown person while their face was close to mine.

-Wanna play with meee?... Look! Imma make a quick magic trick for you. They said while moving away. I’m sure you'll like and it gonna make you laugh... But... Oupsi doupsi! Forgot that there’s a tiny little problem in here. Guess what it is...
I didn’t reply, What was they talking about?
-C’MON! I said: GUESS!! IT’S NOT THAT HARD! They yelled.
What’s happening in here?!
-Ekh! STUPID! WHY AM I EVEN HERE WITH THIS MINDLESS HUMAN!
-I’m sorry, can you help me find my friend? I requested.
-Ha! Ha! Ha! Okay, okay! I won’t be mad anymore. The guess was so easy. Why couldn’t you get it. anyways let’s forget it for now. They ignored my words.
-Can you help me find my friend? Please!... I insisted.
-Hum… Lemme think about something else to play… I’m actually hungry. Aren’t you? forget it. Of course you are. And even if you aren’t, you are for me. Hum… My mind can’t think correctly. What about some ice cream! Yummy! That strawberry flavor, or that other one… hum… What do you call it again? … Oh! Yeah, bubblegum. Ahhh! I’m craving for it now! And this cloud won’t reach the earth now I guess. Hum… I need a way to get my ice cream! They mumbled with a super fast pronunciation, that I could not catch all what was they saying.
But I indeed heard cloud... What cloud?
I ignored them too, and tried walking using my white can. Okay, easy task. I just need to wave my cane to know where to put my legs. Piece of cheese!
I took it out, and tried finding the floor. Eh! …
I made a step forward, I still can move. There is earth to walk on. Yet, as soon as I wanted to make the second step… They held me back…
-No, no, no! don’t wanna lose you! Imma get punished if you ever die! But c’mooon! It’s nothing hard to do. Right?! Just few hundreds of meters away from the ground! I seriously don’t know why everybody makes a huge deal out of it. if you die, then that’s it. Easy pizzy. You die. If somehow you can jump and not hurt yourself. Well then, you stay alive. Why should you think about it too much? You humans are so weird!
-Hey! Get off from me! I wanna go look for my friend! Wanna go home! Where the hell did you take me to?! And who are you?! I yelled.
-I’m your friend! You forgot me? Ah yeah! You don’t consider me as your friend. But we played together! Well even if you were too stupid to guess, still, we played together! That makes us friends!
-WHO ARE YOU?! I persisted.
-Hey! Hey! Calm down weird human! No need to get mad. Life is too short to be angry for nothing. Enjoy your life! Ha! Ha! Ha! They added with their face one inch away from mine.
Why are they ignoring me?! Where am I? What’s happening to me again? Why is all this happening now?
I held my skull with my both hands. My body started trembling again. My eyes were burning just like hell. Tears fell down, and my fire starting shutting off…
-Ow c’mooon! Now crying?! That’s too much girl! There’s literally no need to cry! It ain’t going to help you at all! We’ll be reaching earth after few min. So just shut the f*** up! You’ll get your Ruby or I don’t know what’s her name again! Is that better? Now stop crying! I hate seeing people cry! It reminds me of a lot of things!
I cleaned my face from all of my tears. Held my head up and said:
-Can you please tell me what’s happening?
They putted their finger on my shoulder. Went back and forward many times, as if they were not sure about what to do.
-I can play with you if you want.
-Paying?! Yaaah! I love playing! They exclaimed.
-But you have to tell me what’s going on too. Okay?
-Hey! Don’t play with my mind!
-Please… I begged.
-Eh… Well… I guess there’s no danger in telling you. And the masters told me to keep you alive, that’s all. They didn’t forbid me from talking to you…
-Is there a place where we can sit? So we’d be more comfortable to talk.
-Oh! Yeah! Yeah! Here. Slowly. And ta-da.
They said while holding into my arm to help me settle.
-Eh… Just to tell you! if anything happens to me, you’re the reason. Okay?!
-I’m sure nothing’s gonna happen to you. You’re so cute an funny. No one can hurt you. I smiled while my heart was beating so fast.
They indeed seemed nice…

I'm actually not sure how to conjugate verbs with the pronoun "they" for agender and non-binary people. I've been questioning this for too long. But never found an answer. Yet, I think that verbs with the singular they are just like with it/she/he. Thank you for reading^-^
