Chapter 5.The rush

475 Words
Serena couldn’t fully process everything that had happened. It all moved too fast—her emotions, the hospital visit, and the confusion surrounding it all. Frederick had been kind to her. After everything, he called his friend to come pick him up. Before leaving, he insisted on dropping Serena off at her house. “I really appreciate everything you did,” Serena said softly. “You even paid my medical bills.” Frederick smiled. “Then I have every right to make sure you get home safely.” Soon, his friend arrived. Frederick got into the car, and together they drove Serena home. As she stepped out, she saw Jeremiah returning from work, looking tired and worn out. The moment his eyes met hers, something felt off. There was suspicion in his gaze. Serena hesitated. What does he think I’ve been doing these past few days? she wondered. The last few days had been overwhelming for Serena. Between hospital visits, family responsibilities, and her final exams, she barely had time to rest. She had been preparing for her final papers for five straight days. Sleep was short, and stress was high—but she pushed through. Finally, it was over. Her last exam—Mathematics—was done. That morning had started differently. She woke up early, feeling light and happy for the first time in days. She worked out, took a shower, and joined her family for breakfast. The table was filled with milk, sandwiches, and apple juice. The aroma filled the house. “Good morning, Mom. How was your night?” Serena asked warmly. “It was fine, dear,” her mother replied. Serena helped serve the food before quickly getting ready for school. She didn’t want to be late—it was her final paper. Soon, the driver arrived and took her and her sister to school. At school, the atmosphere was emotional. Students were hugging, laughing, and even crying. Some were sad to leave their friends behind, while others were excited about what the future held. It felt like the end of an era. Graduation was just three days away. Everyone exchanged contacts, social media handles, and promises to stay in touch. It was a final goodbye to a chapter of their lives. After everything, the driver came to pick Serena up, and she returned home. She was happy. Truly happy. She had finished her exams, and now she could finally relax. She spent the rest of the day watching movies—one after another—because she loved them. For once, she allowed herself to rest. Her graduation was coming soon, and she knew it was going to be amazing. She had already chosen her dress, and even her makeup artist was booked. Everything was falling into place. Everything was happening so fast, she felt lk her life was fast forwarding.
