It bothered me how they could feel comfortable, sitting, eating and drinking while bidding on actual people like they were haggling for some footwear. "Sonya!." I heard my name being called as my room door was pushed open by my mother whilst she stared at me with pitiful eyes. "Mum...." I called and ran up to her as she embraced me tightly like she would actually squeeze life out of me. "You need to go out there now, your father called for you." She announced and I slowly let go of her. "Mum, you have to help me. I can't go out there, you of all people should know what that means." I begged but as tears slid down her eyes and she shook her head in negativity, I knew that there was nothing to be done about this. "Baby, if there is anything I can do... Trust me, I would have done it without hesitation. But in this case, my hands are tied." She pleaded holding my hands as tears clouded her eyes. My whole eternity spun, my life felt wasted. I'm not a pawn in a chess game but I've been used like one. All these sufferings and unexpected events weren't new but I couldn't adapt to it. After my dad as the Alpha of our pack, Green Oak pack died without producing a male heir that would succeed the throne, I had lived a miserable life. A new Alpha had risen and as custom demands, he got married to mum. A demon in human form! A beast with human flesh! "You need to get out there now." Mum pleaded as her eyes started becoming overwhelmed with fear. She was right, if I didn't go out there now, my step father would get mad. And we don't want to think about what he does when he gets mad. "Alright, I'll be right behind you." I started urging her to leave as I trailed her behind. I wondered how I managed to walk without faltering till I got to the grand hall where the banquet was ongoing. As werewolves, there were several rules, laws, customs and traditions. Together was the day where all Alpha's had a banquet and it was called the Alpha's Huddle. Only Alpha's were let into the ceremony so being called a beta or Omega which I was into the Alpha huddle was nothing else than a bad sign. As I got into the Grand hall with mum leading me, I made sure to keep my head down but as I walked past the men an uproar started. Prices were being shouted around and that's when I realized that my fate was sealed. They were bidding for me and as it should be, the highest bidder takes the package home. "Sonya, please serve tea to the Alpha's, will you?." Dad ordered and I glared at him with narrowed eye lids. I wasn't supposed to be here in the first place and now he was ordering me to serve them tea. He was doing all these for a purpose and now I knew what it was. As I served the tea, one of the Alpha's s*****d my buttocks making me drop the hot tea pot on him in anger. The silence that followed was priceless as everyone stared at me with mouth agape. I knew what they were expecting, they expected me to kneel and beg for mercy but I could only do that if I did something wrong. He s*****d my ass without my permission, I sprinkled a little tea on him without his permission. "Apologize to the Alpha now!." Dad growled from his seat as he charged towards me but he knew that once he saw that vehement look on my face, I won't apologize. "I'm sorry for her carelessness." Dad apologized in my stead while casting me death glares. "If she won't apologize with her mouth then we could settle it some other way, sell her to me." He said and I felt my heart fall into my stomach. "Okay —." Dad was about to say something when an Alpha interrupted him. He was the Almighty Alpha King Don of the Midnight Stalkers Pack. The rumored devil in disguise. "I'm buying her." He stated and I swerved to look at his face that wasn't quite visible due to the little illumination in the room. "I asked for her first, Alpha King." This asshole of a man protested but I still wondered within me if this day wasn't going to get better. "Alpha Damon, do you have a problem with me buying her?." Alpha King queried leaning forward and I could see Alpha Damon gulp down saliva in fear. "No, Alpha King." He answered and I was mortified to the bones. "I'm betrothed." I yelled and Alpha king bursted out laughing. "You owe me one small favor, don't you? Time to pay up." He said and dad nodded. If he had this kind of effect on Alpha's then he really was a demon. "Good! So everything is settled, I'm buying her." He affirmed and a few moments later, documents were being signed while I ran out of the grand hall to my room to wail. Dear goddess, please let there be a rethink. But later, mum came to announce to me that indeed I had been sold and bought. And not just bought by anyone...... I was sold by my cruel step father! And bought by the cruelest Alpha king of all time.
