He is back
For the past twenty hours, every commercial flight in and out of Valen International Airport had been delayed. The airspace had been locked down, with No-Fly zones stretching for miles. There were armed military men standing watch at every terminal balcony. Today, Valen City was expecting its biggest guest in over a century. And the news had spread all through the town. The city's elites who had come to welcome him were chased away. No one was allowed anywhere close to the passageway. In fact, only the richest man in the city was standing at the parking lot as a mere driver to the esteemed guest. The rest were made to stand at a distance, barricaded from approaching. There had been no name mentioned on the manifest and no known photos to match with any database. But every air traffic controller had the same instruction on a red-lettered paper “Clear Runway Zero. He is coming!” Soon a matte-black military jet sliced through the clouds, silent as a whisper. It was accompanied by over a hundred warplanes. A man with a chiseled jawline stepped out of the airport, his eyes held fire that could forge a sword. Instantly, fifty men in camouflage stood at attention and saluted him. “God of war!!” The crowd screamed from the distance, their eyes filled with awe at the presence of the Legendary War God. A man who fought over a hundred wars around the world in the past five years and won all. He controlled battalions of soldiers all over the world. “Welcome back to Valen City, General.” Tony Berkeley, the richest man in the city said with his head bowed as he opened the limousine door. “Thank you.” Damien replied in an icy tone. Damien Voss stepped into the car and as soon as they hit the road, a feeling of nostalgia washed through him. Five years ago… He was the adopted heir to the prominent Voss family of Valen City. At the young age of twenty-four, he was a successful CEO, inheriting a company estimated at one billion dollars after the death of his foster father. He had been engaged to Irene McCarthy, a famous fashion model and one of the most beautiful young women in the city, also born to an elite family. Damien was young and arrogant, he was also famous across the city, so he decided to run for Mayor. But the Roosevelts didn't like this because they had a candidate of their own. Afraid of losing the election to him. The Roosevelts framed Damien for the murder of one of his political opponents, they convinced the McCarthy family to turn on him. “No one knows his biological father, his mother is a w***e, so he doesn't deserve a political position in our City.” Damien was charged to court for murder and his fiancée Irene falsely testified against him. His lawyer also cohorted with her family and tricked him into signing away his entire wealth to them, leaving not a cent to his name. He was sentenced to three consecutive lifetimes in jail, left to rot away. Damien's mother was chased out of their home which had been taken over by the McCarthy family. She sadly passed away from sickness in the streets of Valen City. The once powerful heir of the Voss Empire was now hopeless, waiting for death. But one day, a retired army general came to him. “I am here to scout talents for a special mercenary squad and I believe you deserve a second chance at life.” He offered Damien a final shot at freedom. It was a suicide mission that very few men dared to embark on, but Damien had something most men didn't have— Determination! He did not only survive the mission, his performance was commendable. Saving fifty hostages in one night. Damien quickly rose to the rank of General, crushing all enemies of the country. For five years, he waged wars all over the world and he was undefeated. Earning more wealth and respect than he could ever dream of, he became a living legend, master in combat, tactical genius with over one thousand medals. His victories earned him the codename “God Of War “ “General, your Ex-Fianceé is getting married to Tommy Roosevelt tomorrow. Should I send a hundred men to destroy their wedding?” Tony's voice called back Damien's attention. His face crumpled with hatred as he remembered the betrayal. “No Tony, I would take care of them myself. After all, she is my Ex,” he spat with a spiteful tone. Damien sat back, looking out the window. Just thinking about the McCarthys and the Roosevelts felt like a knife had been pierced through his heart. For five years the only thought on his mind had been revenge, but somehow he still hadn't figured out the best punishment for them. “How long do you plan to stay, General?” Tony asked hesitantly. Although recognized as the richest man in the City worth billions of dollars, Tony Berkeley was just a mere assistant and caretaker to Damien Voss. Damien thought about it, there were currently no wars that needed his attention. Moreover he had created several regiments that could handle highly sophisticated wars in his absence. “A while,” he answered coldly. “Transfer ten percent of my stock down here.” He ordered. Damien was unsure of exactly how much ten percent of his wealth was, but he knew it was more than the combined net worth of this City's elites, and that was more than enough to serve his purpose. “By the way, have you found the woman I asked you to look into?” He asked, concerned. “Yes Sir, she is staying with her family, and she has a daughter.” There was a look of surprise on his face. “Oh, I didn't know she was married.” He sounded disappointed. Tony paused, as if unsure if to break the news. “General, she is not married. The child belongs to you!” Damien froze. He had a child?
