Damien Voss arrived at the Banquet held in honor of the God of War. It was being held at an expensive hall in the city.
As he headed into the building, he met Irene standing outside. She was with her aunt Isla and her Fiancé Tommy Roosevelt.
They saw him and Tommy immediately pointed the other's attention to him. “What is he doing here?”
They immediately approached him.
“You! Be thankful that I do not want to make a scene at such a prestigious event, or I would have taught you a lesson you wouldn't forget in a hurry for daring to ruin my wedding!” Tommy lashed out.
Damien smiled and then scoffed. “You should be thankful that I gave you three weeks and I am a man of my word. But the clock is ticking.”
“Quiet you good for nothing arrogant son of a w***e!” Isla spat at him.
Damien's eyes dimmed and he growled. “Speak of my mom that way one more time and see what I do to you!” He said in a deep voice as he took a step closer to her.
Isla stepped back immediately, fear in her eyes.
Irene frowned. “Damien! How dare you threaten my aunt? You are already in so much trouble for laying your filthy hands on Damien and yet you do this?” She scolded.
Damien chuckled at her ignorance and turned away.
“Where do you think you are going?” Tommy Roosevelt grabbed his arm. “This is an invite only function, only people that matter are allowed in there.”
Damien lowered his eyes at Tommy's hand placement and the Roosevelt was instantly crippled with fear, immediately letting go of him.
“Tommy is right! This is a banquet held in honor of the God of war, it is not for people like you. How dare you come here?” Isla blurted.
She despised Damien the most because he always stopped Irene from giving her money when they were together.
“People like me? So why are you here?” Damien smirked, confusing her with his question.
“I think I understand it. Damien is delusional, he thinks the Voss family is still on top of the food chain, he refuses to accept his reality as a poor ex-convict!” Irene laughed mockingly.
“Hahaha! You are right, he really is delusional. He thinks he is still a big shot in this city. Everyone now knows you as nothing more than a murderer and an ex-convict. Wake up to reality, Voss!” Tommy said.
Damien sighed. “You all are so small minded. What if I told you that this occasion was being held to welcome me? What would you say then?” he queried.
They looked at themselves and then burst into laughter. “Welcome you? You mean from prison?” Tommy cackled.
“Have you lost your ability to read along with your senses? Do you not see the banner clearly says in honor of the God of War?” Isla scoffed.
Damien chuckled. “So… Is it not possible that I am the God of War?” He asked.
They fell into a deep silence, surprised by his comment and then they burst into hysterical laughter again.
“Oh my God! He is so funny!” Tommy laughed.
“No, you are not wrong. I think he might make a career for himself as a clown!” Isla added.
Irene wasn't laughing, she was rather offended. “I think you should get yourself some medical attention, Damien. I would even offer to pay if you can't afford it. Prison has probably driven you nuts. How can you be the God Of War? You are not even worthy to lift his boots, you are just an ex-convict!”
“That is right! The God Of War has been said to be a legend, he is a man so powerful that he travels with a battalion of soldiers. He has been winning wars for years while you were rotting away in jail. You should be stoned to death for just thinking you could be him!” Tommy spat.
Damien shook his head. “Small minded fools, I do not have any more time to waste on you three. When your three weeks are over, you will hear from me!” He said in a threatening voice.
They felt insulted by his words.
“Hey! You cannot talk to us that way! I am a Roosevelt, just one word I utter and you will disappear from the face of the earth.” Tommy warned.
Damien laughed and then brought his lips closer to Tommy's ear. “Say the word!” He whispered to him in a daring tone.
“Let him go, Tommy. It doesn't matter, he is going to be embarrassed and thrown out by the security!” Isla immediately held back the young overzealous Roosevelt.
“We will see about that!” Damien said and headed for the entrance.
The three of them stood there, waiting to enjoy the scene that will play out. There is no way a worthless ex-convict would be let into a hall hosting a living legend.
Or so they thought…
As Damien arrived at the entrance, the four men standing guard immediately stomped their foot on the ground and saluted him.
“Welcome Boss!” They said while standing as straight as a giraffe's neck.
The Roosevelt and McCarthys found their mouths opening in shock, disbelief written on their faces.
“How?” Isla’s jaw dropped.
“Impossible!” Tommy exclaimed.
Irene stood there frozen, watching Damien walk in right before winking subtly at her.
Boss?
Could her worthless Ex-Fiance really be the God Of War?
