Our first lesson.

1101 Words
Lyra's POV I sit in my father's office waiting for Sebastian. Hopefully, he will not be chased around by Veronica. I have everything ready for our first lesson. Next week we are having some of our first tests, and I want Sebastian to show great improvement. MY body is still aching not only from the exercises yesterday but also from the fall earlier. I do not have to wait too long before the office door opens and Seb walks in. My father gave me a key to his office so I can lock the door behind Seb so no one can disturb us. Sebastian looks like he wants to cry when he sees the math books on the table. "I hate maths. I am not good at it at all. I do not understand half of it," He moans. "Shut up. That is why I am here. I will make you understand it. Also, we have a project, and I want you to start with yours tonight. I am not going to do it for you, but I will help you with it," I say. "Hey, that is unfair! You did all of Nate's projects for him," Sebastian complains. "I am here to help you, Seb. I am not going to do the work for you. Doing the project by yourself will make you understand business economics better. I want you to be better than Nate. You have to remember, Nate does not have me to help him anymore, and he is going to suffer. He is lazy and does nothing for himself. No one will help him again. He has burned his bridges with more of the 'nerds' as he calls them. No one likes Nate. They still like you, but I think it is because you do not bully anyone. You are also not friends with the 'nerds'. You may be full of yourself, but you are not a bully," I say. "Well, thanks for the compliment, I think," Seb says. "Nate is worried, and that is why he is trying everything to get back. He knows he cannot do well in the exams without my notes, and the tests start next week. Here is your test. Start it now. I want to see how much you learned from my notes before we continue," I say. Seb takes the test I give him and goes and sits down at the table. He starts writing, and while he is busy, I start doing my own homework and studies. After about an hour, he looks up and gives me the answer sheet. I look at the answers, and I am pleasantly surprised. Seb is not stupid. I go through all the answers and fix a few mistakes. It is all business economic questions, as I only gave him those notes. I will give him the other notes as we continue with our studies. "Well, am I that stupid?" He asks as I am not saying anything. "No, you are clever. Did you study my notes, and how long did it take you?" I ask. "Okay, I read through them, and I tried to remember as much as I could," he admits. "You only read through them, and you did this well?" I ask. "I did well?" He asks, as surprised as I am. "Yes, you made a few mistakes, but that is not a worry. Why didn't you take notes in class?" I ask. I know if he did, he would not be flunking all his classes. "I get bored in class and start thinking of Hockey," He admits. "Well, from now on, you'd better take notes. Now let's move on to the maths," I say. Seb pulls a face, but he comes and sits next to me, and soon we start solving one problem after another. I do not have to explain a problem to him more than once. He quickly picks up when I explain how it works. Time flies by, and when I look at my watch, I realise it is late, and we still have to go to the gym. Maybe if I pretend to forget, we can skip the gym today. My body aches. "Okay, enough studying for today. I think I get most of the maths now. I always hated it, but the way you explain it makes it fun for me to solve. Now, it is time for us to hit the gym. You thought I forgot. I also brought you some soup for dinner. It may not taste the best, but it is healthy and will help you lose weight. It is a secret recipe, but first we need to exercise," Seb says. This time, I pull a face. He laughs as we get up. I already got my sweatpants and an old top on. I chanced upon Seb before he arrived, using the bathroom in my father's office. The school is eerily quiet as we walk out. There is no one here, only the security guards, but they know us, and we do have our student passes, so they don't even look at us as we pass them on the way to the gym. "You are not going to kill me, are you? You have to remember I am very unfit," I say. I am worried as I look at all the equipment in the gym. "You did not kill me with maths, so no. I know you started with the easier stuff, so I will too. First, we have to stretch to warm up. You have to remember, Rome was not built in one day. We will take it slow. I know you took it slow with me on the first day, so I will take it slow. Oh, do not get on a scale. You have to remember you are going to build some muscles, and muscles weigh more than fat. I do not want you to get discouraged," Seb says. He starts by showing me how to warm up. I cannot help but look at him in admiration. Seb has a body to die for, but I am not going to fall in love with a jock again. I know he is way out of my league. I do not want to make a fool of myself again. Seb is right, I did take it easy on his the first few days, but I also tested him, and I know he is not stupid. He is clever, and I will show him that. Like he does not want me to be discouraged, I do not want him to be.
