“No, no....don’t you dare move another inch toward me,” I warned, holding up a hand like that would actually stop him. My voice came out sharper than I meant, but I didn’t care. We were sitting side by side, backs pressed against the cold earth wall of this pit, staring up at the wide, glowing moon. Its light poured down like it was mocking us, silver and bright in the middle of this cursed forest. No one had dared to show up here because everyone with half a brain knew this part of the woods was dangerous.
