Raine POV Okay. So, I wasn’t breathing. I mean I was, but it felt like my lungs were too terrified to function properly. My heart was pounding like it had suddenly forgotten the correct rhythm to stay alive. And those eyes… oh God, those glowing, red eyes. Lucian wasn’t Lucian anymore. His head tilted slowly, almost predator-like, as he stared at me with that unnatural glow that seemed to pierce through everything human left in him. I could hear the faint sound of his breathing ragged, low and animalistic. The air grew thicker, heavier, charged with something feral. “Lucian…” I called, barely above a whisper. “Hey, you can… stop glaring like that now. It’s not funny anymore.” No answer. He took a single step forward, the broken chain clinking around his wrist like a cruel reminder
