MAYA'S REDEMPTION

MAYA'S POV I am Maya King, the daughter of the most powerful and successful businessman, David king, who owns fourteen hotels and three mines in South Africa. My father has two children my younger brother Junior and me. I am the only daughter of my father, and some evil step-sister of mine thinks she is my father's daughter too. Amanda, Mary's daughter. Mary is my evil stepmother, and I call her evil because she killed my mother so that she can get married to my father. Mary was my mother's best friend, but she had the nerve to leave the father of her daughter and get married to her late best friend's husband, three days after her best friend's funeral. My dad didn't get a chance to mourn my mother's death, he got married so fast and ten months later after his wife's funeral he had a son with Mary his new wife. I couldn't adjust to this new life because I am still hurt and haunted by my mother's death, I can't believe she is gone and not anyone in my family understands my pain. They're always telling me that I have to move on, they even tried to stop me from going to my mother's grave, saying it makes me live in the past. My mother's death changed everything, changed my relationship with my father because now all we do is to fight, we can't have a decent conversation, all we do is to fight, and this contributed to my depression because he compares me to Amanda. I feel like he favors Amanda more than me, he treats Amanda like a daughter and treats me like his stepdaughter, and I know it is Mary's doings. Amanda and Mary are my enemies, and they killed my mother. How come my mother dies on the way to fetch, then the next thing Mary marries my dad, and they say my mother wanted Mary to marry my father if she dies, and I know they are lying. Their lies hurt me so much, and they contribute to my trauma. The trauma of the day my mother died. I can't forget that day. 7 years ago, on Christmas day. My mother left early in the morning to fetch Mary and Amanda so that they can go to my paternal grandparents' house, to cook for the Christmas party. Later in the afternoon when my dad, and I arrived at my grandparents' house, we found everyone angry at my mother as she promised that she will come early in the morning to cook, but it is already 3 pm and she has not arrived. My father found it weird and strange because my mother left early in the morning, so he called her, and she was not answering, so he called Mary and she said that my mother had not arrived. My father started panicking, so he left with my uncle to report her missing. The police told them to wait for 24 hours but since my father had connections, he had every police station in South Africa to search for her and every TV station and Radio station to broadcast about my mother's missing, and within an hour she was found. I remember my father and my uncle coming back with their eyes red, I ran to my father asking him, "where is Mama"," Is Mama okay" and all my dad did was to hug me tight, and he said" You Mom is dead" his words still haunt me even today. They are always playing in my head. My mother's death sometimes feels like a prank and I hope she will come back but when I visit her grave my hopes shut, making me more depressed. But with Lisa, my best friend who supports me, who is my shoulder to cry on, I feel alive. Lisa and I have each other because she has no one. Her parents are always out of the country, so we are each other's parents, but I also have TK. TK is my boyfriend of two years. My relationship with TK is beautiful, and it's also benefiting my father because TK is the one and only son of the most powerful and successful man in Africa, so Mr Tucker Johnson invests in my father's businesses. My father supports my relationship with TK even though he is who gets me in trouble, because of TK I have been arrested four times, but since our fathers are well known and powerful, we get away with everything.
