10 We slipped through the streets and back to the dark inn. The pub was quiet as we crept toward the stairs with Caius leading the way. He had just reached the bottom of the steps when a firelight flicked on at the table to our right. I yelped and crashed into him as he leapt in front of me. A chuckle made me peek around him. Sage sat at the table with one open hand on the top. In his hand was cradled a tear-drop shaped patch of fire. Opposite Sage sat Bee and atop her shoulder was Midge.
