9 He guided me up the winding stairs to the top. There the streets were a jumbled mess of cobblestones, broken crates, and dirt, the peak of the hill was a perfectly smooth surface of grass and a few weeds. Here and there an ancient stone stuck out of the dirt, but otherwise the ground was natural. The view, too, was natural, or rather, naturally wonderful. We were granted a breathtaking view of the whole of the city. There were six main gates, all alight by the guards who stood watch over those most important roads. The six gates stood in unison to the six libraries that surrounded the Mobius Library.
