The war was not going well for the Germans, the Italians and Mussolini had been defeated and Ethiopia and now the former Italian leader was on the run after the Italian citizens rebelled against his regime. After a botched assassination, Hitler was still hiding in his underground bunker along with Herr Himler. Heinrich and I were forced to leave my apartment as well as France for our own safety. Hans stayed behind to fight but he came on weekends, we were in a safe house somewhere in Germany with Hans' wife and children. To say I was upset would be an understatement I didn't understand why Hans thought it would be a good idea to put with a woman who despised me and blamed me for her failed marriage.
