" What the heck was that?" Iris pushed herself away from Jinx who dragged her in along with her and asked with her hands spread out the moment they got back in. She still couldn't believe what Jinx had done, nor that which she was about to do. They've been childhood friends since forever after all, and the fact that she was willing to help that guy despite knowing who his father is surprised her. Jinx who peeked through a small opening in the curtain to check if the guy had truly left, turned around to face Iris after verifying that he was gone. She looked at her friend in silence for the longest while not knowing how to explain herself. It wasn't that Jinx didn't expect Iris to react this way after what she's done. It's just that even if Iris grabbed her by the collar and asked for an explanation, Jinx just wouldn't know how. At the moment, all she knew was that she wanted... no, she needed to return to Ravenpeak and she's made the decision to do so already. She couldn't keep running anymore. " Hah!" Jinx sighed exasperatedly and placed her palms to her waist, shaking her head pitifully. She just proceeded to walk past Iris without looking the latter in the eye. She wouldn't say anything! Iris expected a long speech of explanation from her. But this? All she got in response was a sigh! A darn sigh! Looking at her best friend with whom she ran away from home with walking past her with her head hung, unwilling to tell her why she suddenly wanted to help out the son of someone whom she considered her greatest foe. Iris was just left utterly speechless and feeling betrayed. " It's late, Iris. Let's head to bed for now" Jinx said and paused on her way to look at the kitchen. She shook her head once again and moved to walk towards her bedroom but to her surprise, Iris stomped in rage in front of her and stood in the way, demanding an answer! Iris just wouldn't let things slide with Jinx acting as though she was the one overreacting here! She wanted to hear answers from her, and she wouldn't budge until she got one! Jinx stared at Iris for the longest while, unsure of how to react to this. She had never seen Iris like this before, and it hurt her knowing she made Iris who was usually sweet act this way. Jinx looked to the side when she just couldn't bring herself to continue to look Iris in the eyes. She knew she was entirely to blame in this situation but she couldn't come clean about it yet. Not that she didn't want to, she just didn't know how to. " Listen, you don't have to come along with me, Iris. This... this is something personal and I'm not ready to discuss it with you right now" Jinx said, stating just how she felt while still avoiding Iris's gaze altogether. She knew just how mad Iris was right now, and she understood just why she would be. But still, this was something she couldn't hide away from herself any longer, something she had to face or inevitably suffer a consequence of a lifetime instability. Both mentally and in her relation with others. Jinx knew what she was doing would really hurt Iris, but she didn't mind being the asshole this time. She's been one for a while now... " Personal? b***h you're bringing the bastard son of that murderer back home to some, I don't know, reunion party with his father and you call that personal?" Iris yelled in fury, pointing at the balcony as she called out Jinx's disingenuity. Her shy and timid demeanor from earlier was nowhere to be seen any longer. " Iris, I..." Jinx was speechless and didn't know what to say. She stuttered and looked about in thought to find words but she was unable to come up with anything to say to Iris in the end. " I should have never trusted you to begin with!" Iris shook her head and stomped away towards her bedroom after a long while. Slam! Jinx felt the loud slam of the door reverberate with her already guilt-consumed heart. She was livid with herself but she'd already made up her mind. She would continue with her plan to take that guy to their hometown and find her own closure as well. For now, that's all that matters. But before then, she planned to give the money she receives from the guy to Iris while she was gone. Whatever happens afterwards is solely left to fate. Whether or not Iris would take her back after she got her closure wasn't something she looked forward to. Though she hopes that things wouldn't get to that point between her and Iris. A point where they wouldn't be able to bear the sight of one another. But at this point, Jinx felt that she couldn't continue any longer being a shadow of who she really was. She needs to find herself and stop being the friend that Iris never had in the first place. At least that's how Jinx felt. But she really hoped that Iris wouldn't leave her for what she'd done and that which she was about to do. " Hah!" Jinx sighed once again, this time with a heavy sadness, before making her way to her room. She was tired and embittered. However when she hit her bed, she didn't sleep immediately as she'd hoped. Staring up in the darkness, Jinx fought her thoughts for a while before finally being swept away in slumber. ... The next morning, Jinx rose from bed and walked out of her bedroom feeling groggy, only to find the door to the shared bathroom wide open. Iris was in there washing her face, up already. The two made an eye contact but Iris looked away before Jinx could say anything. ' It seems she's still mad...' Jinx paused to think with her gaze lowered from Iris. She thought to speak to her, but not willing to fuel Iris's anger, Jinx decided to leave her be and just headed to the kitchen. Jinx was still hungry from the last night so she thought to make breakfast. Without doubt, the kitchen was just as she'd left it the last night. Only that the tomatoes seemed a bit softer, slightly slimy and wilty and the onions were dried and had a strong odour. In any case, it would be a waste to leave the tomatoes and onions out like that without putting them to good use. So Jinx thought to continue with the homemade Tacos she was making the previous night. Jinx proceeded to heat the frypan over the stove and added some oil. She waited on the oil to get hot before throwing in the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooked. The beef sizzled and turned a nice brown color, while Jinx hurried to grab the salt, cumin, and pepper to season it with. Soon the whole place was filled with the delicious aroma of stir-fried beef. Walking out of the bathroom in her nightwear, Iris glanced at Jinx but raised her chin and looked away in a scoff when their eyes met. ' She must really be mad at me for last night...' Jinx frowned slightly as she watched Iris take a sit by the sofa. She focused her attention back to the meal she was making. However, she was unable to shake the thought of Iris's feelings and the way she now acts towards her off her mind. Although, Jinx wasn't much worried that Iris would leave her. Not because the latter depended on her for almost everything but because of their close, and almost unbreakable bond. At least that's how it seemed for now...
