Bastards

Although caught by surprise at first, Jinx and Iris understood exactly just what this was about. At first, Jinx wanted to tell him to give up on whatever thoughts he had, but she pressed further instead out of curiosity, " Do you know his name?" Although she knew he probably was left and walked out on like any other kid had been, Jinx was still curious to know which bastard had sired this one from one of the Crimson-fangs. The guy hearing this stared for a second before shaking his head. He didn't know his father's name. " But I have a picture of him..." He said and slowly reached into his pocket to bring out a small photo. He pointed it at Jinx and Iris for them to see afterwards, trying as much to cover if from the rain. " It's all I have left of him," he added. Jinx was the first to freeze and express shock when she saw the man in the photo. This wasn't due to the man's strong, confident, and commanding presence. But rather his face. His piercing eyes, and rugged skin, that had a hint of ruthless and cruel bearing. His square-ish face was docile and his brows were at permanently furious angles. He had a burly figure as he held a baby in his arms, with a disgruntled expression. As though he were being forced to take the photo. Jinx recognized that face anywhere, anytime! Iris who peered a gaze from behind Jinx frowned seeing the man in the picture. Seeing the same man who always stood tall, exuding power and authority while ever-ready to lead his pack with an iron fist, standing in the photo with a baby in his hands, Iris was alarmed. She thought that the man was going to eat the baby. She was so certain! " Murderer!" Her face contorted into that of fury. Dark shades of brown hair started to grow on her face. Grr! Her canines peered out from her lips as she began growling. Iris was shifting! Shaken out of her daze after sensing her friend's state, " Hey, hey! stop!" Jinx instantly turned around to hold Iris. She held Iris by the face, and nudged her to calm down. The latter wouldn't listen as she kept staring at the picture with the most malicious frown ever. Anyone could tell just how much Iris hated this man. Jinx realizing the problem shot a glance towards the guy, signaling that he put the photo away for now. " Oh!" Once the guy did, Jinx turned to face Iris to calm her down once again. As soon as the photo was taken away, Iris moved her gaze to look into Jinx's reaffirming eyes and she soon started to regain her rationality. Her shifting halted and she reverted back into her human form. However, Iris couldn't get the image off of her mind. She looked back at the guy whose father was obviously the man in the photo, and although she didn't express much fury, she was still mad. This was because the person in the photo was exactly the man who'd murdered her father! Confused and clueless as to what got Iris irritated, the guy just stared with an incredulous gaze, unsure where of where he was at fault. Not only Iris but even Jinx was giving her a disdainful stare now. Intimidated by the glares, he took some steps back in fear and apprehension. Although, he didn't understand what had transpired between his supposed father and the ladies, especially the one standing behind the other one, he knew there was definitely some unforgettable malice involved with the way she reacted just now. " Listen, that man you're searching for is a very dangerous man. If you want us to help you in a way to seek revenge or anything, I'm sorry, I don't think we're the right ones you should be seeking... And I'll advice that you better stop searching around for him if you love yourself and wish to stay alive!" Jinx stated and pushed Iris to go back into their apartment. There was nothing else to talk about anymore here! It was obvious that this guy wanted some sort of revenge against his father for having left him and his mother on their own. He probably blames him and wants him dead. After all, this happens with almost every kid who's father had walked out on. However, this is the Crimson-fang covenant's Alpha he is talking about. Jinx didn't want to get involved with this man in any way! " You don't understand, I have to find him or..." The guy stepped forward to say only to pause and fall short on his words. This caught Jinx by surprise as he seemed to be going through a lot of emotional turmoil. Something she could relate to! The guy had his head hung low and his shoulders dropping as he stood in the torrential rainfall, silent and mute. It wasn't after a while that he suddenly spoke again," My mother is dead and I'm only just in need of some closure" He stated in the most heart shattering tone and broken voice that Jinx had ever heard. Jinx who was just about to walk back into their apartment after turning the guy down paused and half-turned to stare at this guy for the longest while. For some reason, she felt a slight tinge of pity for him. Jinx didn't grow up with her father either, and it pained her to see someone going through just the same thing she's going through. Jinx was silent for a long while. She looked to the side while in thought. She knew that she shouldn't even be thinking about this, and her heart raced every second of it. Jinx started to have thoughts. And she feared making a decision that she would forever not stop regretting. These were complicated thoughts... " How much?" All of a sudden, Jinx turned to face the guy and asked. Hearing her, Iris who stood behind her by the balcony door raised her gaze to stare at Jinx in surprise. Surely enough, Jinx knew exactly what she'd done and she glanced at Iris to see how the latter reacted. But she looked away almost instantly. She just couldn't bring herself to look Iris in the eyes. This shattered Iris, greatly. She just couldn't believe it! " Five... Five hundred dollars!" The guy blurted in joy after a moment being taken aback. " A thousand, and I'll give it a thought. Come back when you have the money ready then we can talk" Jinx asserted and didn't wait any longer. She turned around and walked away to join Iris, leaving no ground for negotiations. The guy's face contorted into fear and bitterness but he managed to conceal it in the end. " Tomorrow morning! I'll return tomorrow morning with it" The guy informed before Jinx would finally go inside with Iris and lock the balcony door, to which the latter only gave him an approving nod of her head in response. Click! As the rain continued to drench his being in a torrential patter, he watched as the two ladies left into their apartment and became concealed by the white bland curtains. With no reason to stand around any longer, the guy pulled up his hood, turned around and jumped down the balcony without hesitation. Quite unsurprisingly, he landed smoothly in a crouch on the floor and calmly rose to walk away from the apartment. Under his hood, there was a broad spine-chilling grin worn on his face, and before long, he blended and disappeared into the night.
