Introductions

“So, we meet again.” “Huh?  f**k!”  Abby almost jumped off of the platform.  Jesus.  She scares easily.  “Sorry.  I didn’t mean to scare you.  I was just looking for a private place to smoke.” Abby did her best to play it off, but she was never a good liar.  “I’m sorry.  I don’t mean to be so skittish.  I just wasn’t expecting anyone to be out here.  Is everything ok?  Do I need to put out more food?” “I don’t think so.  Are you the caterer?” asked Gavin. “I am.”  Abby extended her hand and reintroduced herself.  “Abby Taylor.  Nice to meet you.  Again.” “Gavin Conner.  I’m sorry about running off earlier.  I was trying to get all of this lined out.”  Gavin opened his arms so as to gesture the grand task he had before him.  The movement caused his scent to waft towards Abby, and she could feel herself get wet. “I should probably get back inside to check on everything.”  Abby turned and rushed back inside before Gavin could reply.   Abby’s POV:                 Okay.  The food is out.  Everyone seemed to be pleased so far.  It’s still early.  Take a quick break now, then back in to make a refill round.  What time is it?  6:25. Great.  I only have three and a half hours to go.                “So we meet again.”               “Huh?  f**k!”               Where the f**k did he come from?!  Oh God.  Can he smell the joint I just smoked?  I wonder if I look high.  Keep it cool.  He’s kind of cute.  His hair is dark and long, but he keeps it styled neatly.  He’s tall but not too tall.  I remember from earlier that he’s solid.  Stocky.  His eyes seem so… guarded.                Conner.  That sounds familiar.  Isn’t that the name of the guest of honor?  f*****g great.  I better find a way to slip away before he notices that the person handling the food is stoned.  That probably wouldn’t be good for business.                Getting away wasn’t as terribly awkward as I thought it would be.  Maybe he just didn’t care to bother himself with the help.  Why do I care?  I need to get this job done and get paid.  Maybe I can find another event from this one.  That is the goal.    *           *           *           *           *                 All of the food had been put out, and almost all of it had been eaten.  Abby was gradually packing up dishes and utensils to be cleaned at home.  The party was slowly dying down.  Despite the open bar, it was 11 p.m. on a weeknight, so people were making their way to a cab or an Uber to get home.                It was midnight before Abby was packed up and ready to leave.  She was loading her last tote when she heard Gavin’s voice sending off a friend in a Lyft.  It took everything in her to not turn around and stare.  She was exhausted, and all she wanted to do was go home and celebrate her work victory by crashing in the bed.                “Hey, are you all packed up?  I wanted to tell you that you did a great job.  I loved what you did with the chicken.”               “Thanks.  I really enjoyed it.  The job, not the chicken.  Although, I am fond of it, obviously,” Abby blushed.  Nervous rambling was one of her superpowers.  “I suppose congratulations are in order for your father.  Retirement and all.”               Gavin couldn’t help but stare at her bottom lip.  Her lips were still bright red.  He wanted to bite her bottom lip.  He wanted to see those lips wrapped around his d**k.               “I guess so.  I don’t think he’s too excited about it, but it’s time.  My mother wants to travel, and she wants to do it with him.  We practically had to boot him out.”               “Travel sounds better to me.  He must love what he does.”               Gavin made his way towards Abby until he was leaning against her van.  She yawned, and he couldn’t help but notice the wide “O” her mouth made.  It sent a shiver down his spine.                “You’re tired.  Do you need help getting home?  I could have a car take you and get your vehicle delivered as well.”               Abby shook her head.  “No, really.  I’m sorry.  It just hit me.  I don’t have far to go.  I’m good.  It was nice meeting you, Mr. Conner.  Have a good night.”               She turned to open the driver side door when Gavin caught her elbow.               “Say.  Do you have a card?”  He winced.  Of course, he already had her information, but he couldn’t think of anything else to say.  “I mean, I had some friends that asked about your service.  I thought it would make it easy to pass along your information.”  It was a little clumsy, but he thought he recovered fairly well.               Abby took a look inside her van and tried to hush the voice in her head that told her to arch her back a little as she was bent over the driver’s seat.  It felt like an eternity, but she was able to find two of her cards stuffed inside the dashboard.  Just a little flustered now, she turned to give them to Gavin.               “Here ya go.  Sorry, I would have more, but I just…” But I only got these two as samples for my purchase which won’t be filled until I pay for them… “ran out and didn’t order in time.  Of course, you could always pass on my email address.”                “How about your phone number?”  He said the words before he meant to.  “Or do you prefer email for your point of contact?”               Did he just ask me for my phone number?  Hmm.  Maybe not.  “Either is fine.  I believe my cell number is on the card.”               Gavin looked at the card and saw all of her information was there.  He felt like an i***t.  Not that he could explain why, but he just couldn’t let her leave without knowing how to reach her if he wanted to.  There was just something about her.  She was tired.  He could because her eyes were becoming hooded.  Something about that turned him on.  There was a sultry way she looked up at him that made him wonder how she might look in more intimate circumstances.                “I’m so sorry.  I’m keeping you.  Please, let me help you with something.”               “Actually, I’m all packed up.  I just need to run back in to get the lights and do one last walkthrough to make sure I didn’t leave anything.”               “I guess I’ll let you get to it, then.  Be careful going home.  You did a great job.”               “Thank you.  I really enjoy it,” Abby said with a smile.
