Chapter 1
“Andra…” ”Andra…” ”Cassandra!” I sighed and snapped my eyes at my cousin Joaquin over the aisle of dresses I was rummaging through. ”Why are you being loud? Estupido.” (Stupid). “You dare say that to me when I’m helping you instead of partying?” He glared at me. “You ungrateful la zorra.” (b***h) “So leave.” I said with a leisure look. His glare intensified while I smirked, knowing he can’t do anything today but be my chaperone since father specifically told him to assist me for the day. “Tsk! You know I can’t do that. You’re purposely being overbearing to torture me aren’t you?” He accused with clear distaste using that thick spanish accent of his. “Hmmm, let me think…” I pretended to think, and then grinned at him. “Yup, you got that right. So quit whining you bastardo!” (Bastard) He groaned but didn’t rebut anymore and just silently stood on the side as I looked all over the dresses to pick what I’m gonna wear for my party later tonight. This was gonna be my last party before my freedom finally goes down the drain. So tonight. I'll make sure I'll look my best. I continued my hunt, and in the corner of my eyes I found a wine red dress that suited my fair complexion. I smiled triumphantly, looking at the dress with sparkly eyes. This is it! ”Go get this wrapped up.” I threw the dress to Joaquin and I could see the fool’s jaw clicking as he stared at me with a stabbing look. “Pay for it yourself!” He yelled and was about to storm off when he accidentally bumped into one of the mannequins in the store. One of the attendants quickly looked at him, annoyed. “Sir, you have to pay for that now.” The attendant said and I snickered, looking at the i***t who looked like he was one second away from dashing out of the store. “How much is it?” He asked, not bothering to argue. I must applaud him though, although my cousin is the dumbest and most tactless person I know. At least he knows the value of Prada, perhaps the countless times I brought him with me finally resulted in something good. “Five thousand dollars, sir.” The attendant said, and I could literally see my cousin sweating. I mean he’s not poor, but the i***t probably left his wallet again so he surely has no way to pay for the expensive dress he just knocked off. Hmph! That’s what you get for messing with me istupido! ”Andra?” He turned to me and I looked at him innocently. “Yes…Joaquinnn?” I said his name teasingly. Joaquin is much younger than me but the asshole barely shows respect. Or perhaps it’s because of the way we were raised. But alas, as much as I want to continue teasing him, he’s on the verge of crying, so might as well lend him a hand. “It’s okay Miss, I’ll pay for it.” I said. The attendant smiled and nodded her head, giving Joaquin one nasty side glance before she left. Joaquin sighed in relief, “Andra, we should hurry up. I need a drink, and you need to be at your own party before the guests start wondering if you've been kidnapped.” “Yeah-yeah,” I waved him off, “Let them wait.” I said, smirking, making him fume in frustration. … Seven hours later, the world was a blur of neon lights and the sound of heavy party music. We were at Jewel, the most expensive and well known club in the city. The air was thick with the scent of expensive alcohol and god knows what else. I was officially wasted. Period. I can’t even see straight anymore. But to hell with that! I’m gonna enjoy this night and no one is gonna stop me! "Happy birthday, Andra," my brother Francis said, appearing out of nowhere like a ghost. He handed me a glass of ice water, blocking my path to the dance floor. "Drink. Before you trip over those and cause a scene and embarrass our family ." "I don't... I don't wanna," I pouted, mouthing Spanish curses at him as I slurred from the shots. "It’s my birthday. I’m into my... my 'Boss b***h' era, Francis. Water is for people who have responsibilities. And tonight, I don’t have any responsibility!" I yelled at him. He just looked at me calmly, as if he was so done with me. "You have a marriage meeting tomorrow in the afternoon," He reminded me, his voice dropping to that serious, 'Mafia Prince' tone. “Drink the water, or I’ll have Damian carry you to the car right now." He warned. Damian is one of my cousins, and apparently is my brother’s right hand man. Tsk! As if he can do anything to me tonight. “Papa and I already agreed I can get as wasted as I want. So back off Cabrón!” (Bastard) It seems I have finally pulled the last thread of patience out of my brother since he finally glared at me. “I swear if you don’t drink this I will burn all those beloved shoes you have in that closet of yours.” He threatened and I was absolutely appalled. “You wouldn’t.” “Do you dare test me?” he shot back. I looked at him intently, and eventually I gave up. I grumbled, downing the water with a look of pure betrayal. The club was getting too loud as the walls closed in. “Good. Now be on your best behavior my dear sister.” He said, finally calming the f**k down. “And also…” “What now!?” I snapped. “Happy birthday.” he said before walking off with a victorious grin. Ugh! Brothers are the worst! I walked to the side and calmed myself down. The thought of tomorrow…of the life-long sentence my father had prepared for me made my chest tight. "I need air," I muttered breathlessly, stumbling toward the exit. I burst through the heavy doors into the cool city night. I was mumbling to myself about how I hate my brothers when all of a sudden, I slammed into something solid. “Oof!” I groaned. It was like hitting a brick wall made of cashmere and steel. I stumbled back, my heels catching on the uneven pavement. I waited for the floor to meet me, but a hand clamped around my wrist, preventing me from falling. "Watch where the hell you're going," a deep voice rasped. The accent was thick, melodic, and kind of… sexy. I looked up, blinking against the streetlights. And the moment my face landed on his, I felt my lungs give out. He was beautiful. A sculpted Adonis in a Brioni suit, with eyes the color of murky sea glass and hot red thin lips set in a line of pure disgust. He looked at me like I was a piece of trash that had blown against his expensive shoes. "I…I… woah you’re hot ," I blurted out, the alcohol making my brain jump to the most random thought I’d had all night. He frowned, his grip on my wrist tightening for a fraction of a second before he practically shoved me away. "What? Move, la puta." The word hit me like a physical blow. Puta? Did he just call me Puta? Isn’t that w***e? Did he just call me a w***e!? My shock turned into a white-hot flash of rage that sobered me up faster than the water ever could. "I am not a w***e," I hissed, stepping back into his space despite the two mountain sized men standing behind him. "And it’s my birthday. A simple 'excuse me' would have worked, you arrogant son of a b***h. And fyi, you bumped into me you psycho!" His eyes narrowed, a deadly glint appearing in them that would have made a grown man run. He leaned down, his face inches from mine, the scent of expensive scent filling my senses. "You're lucky I'm in a rush," he whispered, his voice was so deep that it sent a shiver down my spine that had nothing to do with the cold. "In my world, little girls who bark at wolves don't make it to their next birthday." “Wolves? Bark?” I asked, not getting his point. Or it’s because perhaps my world is currently moving chaotically in front of me. It’s like every object was dancing. Oh wait! I’m just drunk. “You know what, you don’t have to pretend to not like me.” I smiled mischievously at him as I sling my arms around his neck. “If you want a piece of me, just say so. I can be quite generous.” I gazed at him sensually, but this poker looking guy didn’t even bat an eye. “You’re dru…” I didn’t let him finish. I was so captivated by our close proximity and that wet red thin lips of his that I wasn’t able to control myself and just leaned in and kissed him. For a moment it was only me who was moving my lips. But seconds after, I felt him move his tongue against my lips. He sucked on my tongue and I felt like I was in ecstacy. He was so expert at this. However, the feeling was short-lived when I felt another thing coming out of my mouth. “Ugh!” I pulled away on time and puked my guts out. My vision started getting darker, probably from too much moving. “Capo!” (Boss!) I heard someone shout. I felt my body going limp, unable to keep my body straight. Then all of a sudden, I was hauled in the air, like I was floating. “Move my meeting to tomorrow.” “Are you sure? The Cuestas may not treat this in good faith.” I took a peek at the people who were talking, and then I saw his handsome face again, looking at me darkly, but this time there was a tinge of interest in them. “Don’t worry. I'll explain to them. For now, I’ll have to take care of this little trouble maker first.” He muttered, eyeing me like a predator. That was the last thing I saw before I finally passed out.
