A Lie So Beautiful

26. A little closer

Mia's point of view.

As sad, unsatisfied and unhappy as we were, we were left with no choice but to bury our beloved one in these dark forest. The place seems very cold but our emotions were much much colder, it paled in comparison.

Claire has been crying non-stop for a while now. Maybe its because of the hunger or maybe its because she miss her mother's warm. But her cries act as a signal for us to act, to do just anything so that all of us could get out of this place in one peice, so that we wont have to say goodbye to anyone else.

With that I suggest we try to find shelter or any food we could eat. And here, as hesitent and unwilling as we were, we all forced out our goodbyes to Monica with a lot of tears and finally we started to leave to find shelther.

Like this another morning has start. I wake up and take a quick shower, as quick and efficient as I can with one broken hand at least.

After that I go down for breakfast where all three of them were seated.

Mia: Good morning everyone.

When I say that I get a punch of good morning at the same time by everyone.

Chris/Jace/ Justin: Good morning sweety/angel/Mia Pia.

Them and their nicknames.

Jace pull out a chair for me and invite me to eat.

Jace: Come and eat.

See a gentleman right there. I said a small thank you and start taking my breakfast as I sit down.

Mia: So what's the plan for today?

Chris: Justin and me have to go to the hospital for a while, some reports need to be handled quickly so

.

Thank god, at least I dont have to worry about persuading them to go to work. Two down, one more to go.

Mia: Okay, Jace?

Jace: Iam free, I can just stay here I guess.

I guess? As if. He has been trying to stay here full hour since yesterday, I know he is still worried about me but this can't go on like this.

Mia: Dont even start, its been two days now that you have missed work, that can't continue on. So chop chop, all of you go do your work and do it till work hour is up. And yes, Iam okay, I can take care of myself.

As I say that all of them were all ready to argue. Did they talk about one of them left behind to babysit or something.

Jace: But!!

As soon as he start I cut him off.

Mia: There is no but.

Chris: But sweety, won't it be good if Ja...

I knew it, thats why dad and Justin was okay with going to work. They must have agreed with Jace staying and them going for today.

Mia: Na uh! Nop, all of you are going to work and I don't wanna hear otherwise. Iam just gonna stay here and not gonna do anything anyway, Iam gonna be more than fine.

Justin: We all believed that once upon a time.

Mia: Ohh please, it was just one time that I have got hurt, dont generalised.

That is definitely a lie, I always gets hurt wherever Iam, that spraining an ankle here and there is considered normal by now. Iam just that clumsy. But if I admit that myself, they might even hire a bodyguard which is just scary even to think about.

Justin: Oh please, you are someone who have broken your leg just by walking on a flat surface.

This is true again, how? Dont ask. It just happen. But that was when I was like thirteen. It wont happen again.

Mia: That was ages ago, it wont happen again.

Justin:I can take example from when you are older too.

Ahhgg the black side of having him with me everytime. He know every little thing about me in any topic.

Mia: Oh shuss, you guys are going to work and thats it!

When I say that he was about to retaliate again but I make a 'you dare face' everytime stopping him from speaking.

Like that we finish our breakfast after which dad and Justin left in a hurry as there were some emergencies in their research progress. That's what's they say, I don't know what it is about.

I dont know why, but I really dont know anything about that research of theirs, and they never share as well but then again I dont ask anything about it as well.

Anyway presently, Jace; he is still here. He is adamant on staying and not moving even an inch. Currently we are in the living room with him sleeping in the couch and me sitting in the carpet just beside him trying to get him to work.

This guy worry too much, I mean I can live with myself for a day, its not like Iam badly injured or anything like that.

Mia: Jace, come on get up and go.

And I shake him while he just turn away from me. When he did that, I pull him trying to turn him over. But obviously I wasnt able to even move him, let alone turn him. But seeing that I was struggling and huffing about in tiredness. Yes Iam not proud of my stamina myself. But seeing this he turn to my side himself, making me grin in victory. While he just chuckle seeing that.

Jace: Angel, are you kicking me out? After everything that I have done for you?

Is he taking the path of acting pitiful? He is not gonna succeed, I mean I have graduate in this department a long time ago.

Mia: Well you can say that as well. But whatever the case may be, you are going to work today.

Jace: How mean? I just wanted to stay with you, work will be fine. Its not like I am the only worker there anyway.

Tch, as if. His secretary has been calling him non stop since yestetday evening. And he says everything will be fine.

Mia: Come on Jace, Lea has been calling you non-stop since yesterday.

Lea is his secretary.

Jace: I don't know what you are talking about.

Not even coming up with an excuse now huh? Just straight up denial.

Mia: Come on Jace, you know she hates calling you if its not emergency. And seeing as she is calling this much there must be something wrong or a very urgent thing must have come up.

Jace: Yours words are just being mean now.

Mia: Hey! I was only saying the truth.

Actually Lea hate calling him cause everytime she do, he always give her more work or make her run errands. And if she dont call, he hardly call her unless urgent and can managed. So she tried her best not to contact him, its like not calling him means less work for her.

Jace: Pfft.

Mia: Come on now, get up and off you go. I swear, I'll be fine, and I'll call you asap if something happen.

Err. That call part is gonna shoot me down again.

Jace: Am I suppose to believe that?

See, but if I were him I wont believe me too. Me and calling is just no no.

Mia: I know the irony but really I'll be fine. Just go, I can do pretty much anything on my own anyway, how am I even gonna get hurt.

Another wrong question.

Jace: You really want me to answer that?

At least I have a chance to turn back.

Mia: Nop, but you get my point. So please go to work.

Just as I say that Lea's call come again making him sigh in irritation but not picking up the call anyway.

Jace: Okay, I'll have to go but call me if anything happens alright, and yes you must pick up the calls alright. I'll be back as quick as I can.

Mia: Okay, okay go now. I'll swear anything happen and I call you.

Iam really hoping I keep my word this time. Or just have my phone with me when they call.

Jace: You better be safe and sound when I get back.

Saying that he give out another sigh but nonetheless stand up and kiss my forhead and was ready to go.

Mia: Ill be fine so take your time.

When I say that he just smile, I bet he will be back quickly. Another call came and this time he look at the call, then look up at me and once again kiss me on my forehead while saying.

Jace: Ill be back soon, take care alright.

As I nod my head, he walk out while picking up the call and directly saying 'Iam coming'. And he says he dont have work, that caring i***t.

But as he went away I also remember my plan so I quickly run to my room and change myself into a simple plain cream colour dress and put on a white simple flat. After that I take the boquet of flowers I have prepared and went downstairs again.

Dressing is so much tiring with a broken arm. But nonetheless, I did make it, so I guess Iam good. I sling on a simple side bag and yes this time I didnt forget my phone. After that I start my short journey.

I walk around the corner for about ten minutes and I reach my destiny.

I open the now rustic gate which was covered by the green vines twirling around it. I have not been here for a while again.

Actually it was my parents grave, their grave was set up in our home which was burnt down. Dad said when the fire was finally put out, mom's body couldn't be found anymore as it was completely burnt down. So they decide to make the place where she died her grave.

Dad said that my father talk about being buried together with mom when he was alive, so dad decide they should be buried together.

So right now Iam standing in front of my parents grave. The grave was made beautifully, it was more like a mound in the middle of the garden.

After the fire, dad clean up the place and make it a garden filled with nothing but babybreath. Dad says mom really love this flower and my father always get this for her. Even promising her a garden which couldn't be kept. So dad finish it for him. In the midde of all the white, creamish flower there is a litte mount with a willow tree besides it grown in a bending way forming a protective shield just above the grave. Beneath it my parents lay, with a very well made headstone that reads.

Here lays a loving couple,

Adam Collin and Julia Collin.

They live in the face of love ,

and walk life with a smile

painted on each of the steps they took.

May they rest together peacefully filled in their unending love.

Reading that I kneel down and place the bouguet I brought besides the headstone.

Mia: Hey Mom, hey dad. Its been a while again, Iam sorry for not coming very often. Mom, dad you guys know, I have grown much bigger again. See.

And I stand up and twirl showing them.

Mia: Oh! And dont worry about my hand, I just got into a little accident and hurt it a bit thats all. Dad says it will heal in no time.

After I said that, silence fell in that beautiful place. I just didnt know what to say or where to start, at all.

But just then, I could see the image changing again and the house suddenly look like my old home again.

The little me was running around giggling while dad is chasing me. I could hear dad calling out to me.

Adam: Mia, stop running. You will get hurt if you fall.

When he said that the little me look back at him forgetting to look out where she was going and true enough, she bump into something hard.

But as she look up at what she bumps into, she saw a green eye looking as clear as the wild forest accompanied by a fair reddish skin with a full cheek and a plum red lips full of life. As she stare further that lip stretch up to a smile.

And she found herself saying.

Mia: Mom!!!

Julia: Hey love, are you hurt anywhere.

When she said that ,the little me nod her head in no while giving a bright smile with her missing teeth gap fully on display. While mom pick me up and I can feel the warmness radiating of her. While I was looking at her, dad comes up to us and give both of us a kiss in our cheeks.

I turn my other cheeks asking for a kiss there too making them laugh but kissing me at each side of my cheeks making me laugh out in happiness.

I was about to look up again but a strong breeze blew up and suddenly Iam back at the garden again. And I realise I was recollecting some old sweet memories again.

A tear drop down my eyes withouth me even knowing it did. I wipe my tear and take a deep breath. This is no place to cry Mia.

Mia: Mom, dad it scared me at how jealous Iam of that little girl in your arm whom you guys were kissing. I keep on feeling that that is not me but someone else. I feel like there is a million miles for me to reach that little girl. But, Iam trying my best to meet that litlle girl again.I think ill reach there soon seeing that I could feel your love even when I couldn't feel my childhood.

I kneel down once again and caress the mount as if that will bring me closer to them.

Mia: Mom, Dad. Dad says thay if Iam happy then, you guys will have no regret and will be contented at however I chose to live. If its really true, then please know that, I have been happy for a long time now, dad never left me alone and take care of everything for me. He really love me and I do too.

Mia: I even have a great friend, his name is Justin. He is the greatest friend anyone could ever ask for. I have even fallen in love with a great guy, who care and loves me as much as I do. Oh, his name is Jace. It has been a while since I met him so I knew him pretty well by now. I really wish you guys could have met him, next time I would bring him along. Dad also like him, so dont worry about it, you guys will like him too.

Mia: All Iam trying to say is, Iam well taken care of, there has never been a tear which was unwipe or a smile that was unshared with others. So, if you guys are ever worried about that, please be at peace, I have got some great and awesome people in my life who really love me dearly.

Mia: I really really wanna miss you guys but I think I have got many rememberance to do before that. So, untill then please wait for me. Ill come soon again then.

After saying that I stay for a bit while just standing there. But seeing that the sun is about to set, I bid my goodbyes and walk out from there.

I was walking down the road again and I cant help but smile to myself. I really feel that I have gotten closer with them today. Cause before whenever I visit their grave, I could never say more than a simple greeting.

Cause as weird as it sound, when I lose my memory of me as a kid, I just dont know them anymore and it really felt like we were strangers. But remembering all this little little clips of my life finally make me feel that they indeed are my parents who love me dearly and I who love them. Its feels great to get to know them again.

While thinking all this I reach home in no time and as I was about to open the gate, I saw Jace coming out from his gate towards ours. I knew it, he was bound to come home fast.

Mia: You are already back? This quickly?

Jace: Thats not the point, I thought you were suppose to be resting werent you? You did not by any chance go to work did you?

Mia: No, you know Iam way too lazy for that.

Jace: Well that is also true.

The least he could do was pretend to disagree.Honesty is not all that good anymore.

Anyway we get in the house and I can smell delicious aroma from my home and that is how I know dad is already home. He is early too.

With that I was about to open the door but coincidentally Justin open the door as well.

Mia: So everyone come back early?

When I say that both Jace and Justin just give a simple shrug and walk in. Making me tch at there action but smiling inside. They really do care a lot.

With that I got in as well and that day we all eat an awesome chinese style food which dad make. He can make anykind of food I tell you. It was delicious.

Anyway after that all of us sit together in the lounge sharing all thing that has happen today and laughing at the silly jokes Justin make.

After that all of us were tired so we decide to call it a night, with Justin and Jace sleeping over again. They stay here more than they stay at their home, I tell you.
