Chapter 1
Prologue
A beautiful woman stood in the balcony, her nightgown flattering softly in the silent breeze, the moonlight illuminating her face which by a single look, one could see the sadness written clearly on it. Her bright blonde hair cascading down her shoulders like a waterfall, few strands flying up with the blow of the breeze.
She looked down continuously at her phone which she held in her hand in a tight grip. A few sigh left her lips as she kept waiting, waiting for the call which always pull her further apart from her husband.
The phone in her hand started blaring suddenly and she quickly press the volume button to silence it, she looked back into her room through the thin white curtain to know if the noisy ringtone woke up her husband, but when there was no movement from the sleepy silhouette of the man, she let out a sigh of relief and answered the call, "what?" Her voice turned cold, her expression changed from sadness to annoyance.
"Hello beautiful, why do you always answer in such a cold tone?" A man's voice drifted out from the phone.
"It's 2:00 am, I should be sleeping beside my husband but here I am, answering your call" she replied with sarcasm.
"Oh, doesn't that prove something honey? You will always choose me before him."
"Dream on. What do you want Craig?"
"Meet me tomorrow by 12:00 pm, I will like to see you."
"I don't want to see you!" She said with a gritted teeth.
"Oh but I want to see you, and I'm going to see you."
"Why are you doing this to me Craig? What wrong have I ever done to you?"
"Listen to yourself Sasha, what wrong have you ever done to me? I was there for you, during the time he dumped you like a trash! I kept you happy, I did everything I could to make you smile, I offered you my time, my attention, my love, but what did you do? He came to you one day with a stupid proposition and you packed your bags and moved back to him, leaving me, I that have been there for you and the next thing? You sent me your damn wedding invitation!"
Sasha closed her eyes, taking in all his words, "I love him Craig, you know about that. I told you too that they would be nothing between us."
"Enough! I don't want to hear about that nor talk about that nonsense. Meet me tomorrow at Golden Palace by twelve pm if not, this video I have with me will be the last thing your sweet husband will see before he leaves his office and you know what comes when he does. It will be bye bye loving marriage and bye bye happily ever after. The ball is in your court."
"Craig wait" she called but he had already hung up, she closed her eyes and tears sipped from her lashes and down her cheeks. She sighed in a shaky voice while taking her phone from her ear, sobs threatened to escape her lips and she tried her best to be as silent as she could.
"Hey" a deep voice called behind her after some minutes and she stiffened, normally when she hears his voice, her whole body tingle over in love but now, she stiffens in fear. Arms snake around her waist before she could turn to him and she felt his face in the crook of her neck, his soft breathing caressing her skin, "why are you up?"
"I needed a fresh air" she replied, trying to hide her sob from her voice.
"You are always up at night, is everything okay?"
"Yes."
He stayed silent, breathing in her scent. After a while, he spun her around to face him, the lines of tears on her cheeks sparkling in the moonlight. A frown covered his handsome face immediately he saw that, "what's wrong, why were you crying?"
"Oh this?" She touched her cheeks and smile up at him, "it's nothing. I didn't even know I was crying."
"Sasha, don't lie to me" he shook his head, making it obvious he didn't believe her, "what is wrong?"
She blew out a sigh, "I had a nightmare. It woke me up and I didn't want to disturb you so I came out here."
"What happened in the dream?"
"It...it was horrifying. You left me and you took Chris with you. My world shattered because I can't live without you, I can't live without both of you. You are my world, if I lose you two I won't have any reason of living anymore" she was staring into his crystal blue eyes now, her brown ones showing her fears.
Michael smiled, he wiped a few strands of her hair from her face, "what a funny dream" he chuckled, "perhaps I didn't tell you but the day you said I do, you have become bound to me. You are not going anywhere if you are thinking of leaving Sasha Brown, I'm your responsibility now and you are not leaving me neither our son."
Sasha smiled as his words gave her warm feelings, "did you even understand what I said? I said you left me not the other way around" she chuckled.
"Oh I heard you alright" he nodded "it's just that it is impossible. I'm not leaving you, not in life, not in death. So if we are talking about someone leaving, it has to be you but I'm not going to let you. You know how crazy I can be anyway" he kissed her forehead, "I will always be here for you."
Sasha burrowed into his arms, "thank you Michael."
"Don't thank me, you are stuck to me."
She giggled, hugging him closer.
"Why are you with your phone?" He asked, taking it from her hand where it was poking him.
Sasha stiffened when she heard him, her brain did a quick run before she answered, "I wanted to play a game to clear my mind from the dream but I just couldn't even look at the phone."
He smiled, "it's just a stupid dream, I think you have been watching a lot of telenovelas where the husband leaves the wife for one stupid reason" he rolled his eyes, "come my sweet, the morning is still too early and you know Chris will start his wailing soon."
Sasha nodded with a smile and she let him lead her into the room and tuck her into bed before climbing in after her and scooping her in his arms. She rest her head on his chest, trying as much she could not to think about her call with Craig and his blackmailing as she listened to his heartbeat and letting the sweet lullaby lure her to sleep.
