Chapter 3

*Celina’s POV*  I narrowed my gaze at Victor, who was raising his eyebrow at me in confusion. “That’s the ‘hi’ I get?” he whispers to me. Oh no he didn’t! I turned my head away from him, crossing my arms. Did he just questioned my attitude? I felt my phone vibrate and peeked at it from under my notebook. It was from Mel and I sighed internally as I clicked on it.  Mel: you okay babes?  Me:  why wouldn’t I be?  Mel: because I can feel your anger oozing out love  Me: did he ask the teacher to sit by me?  Mel: why are you asking me?  Me: Mel you guys mind link and s**t don’t tell me…  I saw Mel’s shoulder stiffen slightly and turned my attention to Victor, who was looking at me amused. I reached my hand out, motioning for him to give me his phone. He pulled out his phone and handed it to me and I noticed it was locked. I pursed my lips and looked at him unamused as he smirked. “Good luck figuring it out” he whispered. I tapped the screen and unlocked the phone much to his shock.  “Stop using my birthday i***t” I whispered back before the teacher cleared his throat. I turned my attention towards the notebook, placing his phone there and adding my number. I figured he might’ve lost it until as I tapped my number away it popped up as saved. My eye twitched as he had it saved as Lina Ballerina. I swear….he had my number this whole time? My lower lip trembled and I realized that all this time, he just didn’t want to talk to me. I threw the phone at him and furiously texted his number, knowing for a fact his number never changed after finding my number there.  Victor caught his phone quickly as it vibrated and he looked at the message, his expression paling slightly. He looked at me, and I swore I saw regret on his face. “Lina…” I raised my hand, cutting him off.  Me: All this time you had my number and not once you could’ve texted me to let me know you were okay?  Me: So much for friendship  I closed the notebook, and luckily the bell rang. I shoved my things into my bag and got up, storming out of the classroom. “Celina” I heard Tommy call out after me. I stormed towards my locker, shoving my book harshly into it as I turned to Tommy. “Sorry about that. I didn’t know he was going to be an ass and move you” I apologized to Tommy. Tommy frowned as he raised his hand, touching my cheek. I pulled back slightly and saw his hand wet. I touched my cheeks and looked at him.  “Sorry…” I said again, wiping the tears that had escaped. “Celina” I heard Victor behind Tommy, his voice laced with anger. His gaze was narrowed at Tommy who turned around and stood next to me, his face serious. “Go away Victor…I thought we were friends…hell…I thought we were family. You couldn’t even spare to reply to my messages once?” I questioned him angrily.  “Celina I didn’t have time and the time I did have I had to speak with my father. The pack is my main concern not dealing with humans” I inhaled sharply, feeling my chest constrict. “Lina…that came out really bad” Victor’s face turned to panic as he reached to me, only for Tommy to step in the way.  “You’re both the same” Tommy spat out. “Out of the way” Victor ordered. “No…I’m not part of your pack…just another measly human. I may not have known you guys all your lives, but you f****d up Victor…” I looked between the two, putting my hand on Tommy’s shoulder. “Don’t worry about him Tommy…it’s okay” I tried to reason.  “No it’s not!” Tommy turned his head towards me just as Amelia ran up to us. “Vic…Lina…let’s go outside okay?” she suggested. “Tommy…what did you mean by you’re both the same?” I asked curiously. I saw Amelia looked at Tommy, then at me. “Tommy” Amelia started, but the look Tommy gave her made her quiet down.  “So, I turned seventeen during the summer…actually at the end of the school year remember?” Tommy started. I nodded, looking between them. “Well your dear friend here sniffed me out. I know how their customs work Lina…I know about bonds and mates and what it means to them” my eyes widen as I looked at Amelia, whose face was as pale as a ghost.  “Don’t tell me...” I started but was cut off by Tommy. “Yeah Amelia claimed I was her mate, but she couldn’t have me by her side. A human couldn’t bear the responsibility that a future Luna needed for her Alpha, and that she needed someone at her…level” Tommy said the last part with so much disdain that it made me gasp for air.  “That can’t be true. Mel isn’t like those wolves right Mel?” I defended Amelia. Amelia swallowed hard, her gaze never leaving Tommy’s. “Mel?” she finally pulled her gaze away from him, looking at me guiltily. “I…I had to do what was right Lina…” I leaned against the locker, feeling the wind being knocked out of me. Vic’s hand was on my shoulder, trying to steady me. I looked up, his face full of concern until I saw red and pushed him back.  “So what made me different? I was just the token human…pet!” I shouted, not caring if the other kids heard us. “Lina no!” Amelia shouted back in horror. “We’re friends” she continued but I shook my head. “What about you Vic? Would you reject your mate if she was human?” I asked him, looking into those silver eyes. So many emotions flashed by until his face became blank.  “Of course. The safety and the fate of the pack resides on my shoulders. I need a Luna who can at least shift and help me protect it” and there it was, the slap to the face I wasn’t expecting out of him. I think I’m going to throw up. I shook my head, feeling as if I was going to hyperventilate. Why did his words hurt more than Mel’s? “Lina” Amelia moved forward and I slapped her hand away. “I can’t right now” I told them as I turned around and stormed out of the school  “Celina” I heard someone calling out to me. I felt someone’s hand on my arm and I turned around, my fist swinging towards whoever was grabbing me. I stopped it before it connected with Tommy’s face. “Woah…” he gasped, his eyes wide as he stared at my fist. “Please just leave me alone” I told him, lowering my hand. “Look…I know how you feel, so how about we skip the rest of the day and go get some ice cream from Lou’s?” he suggested. I chuckled slightly, the chuckle coming out more as a sob as I nodded.  His gaze soften as he awkwardly patted my shoulder before I followed him to his car and headed towards the ice cream shop.
