Chapter 2

*Celina’s POV*  Amelia and I rode in her car to school. The music was blasting the latest alternative and the windows were down, enjoying the warm weather. Once she parked the car at the school parking lot, I jumped out, stretching and squealing in delight. Amelia shook her head as she walked around the car, looking at the school before us.  “Our last year…let’s make the best of it!” she shouted as she grabbed my arm, dragging me up the school steps. The hallways were busy with other kids meeting up after summer break, as if they haven’t seen each other in years. Oh god I hoped we weren’t that bad…  We got our schedules and locker combinations and headed towards our lockers, starting our decoration ritual. “Mel, didn’t you say Vic was supposed to come back this year?” I questioned as I placed the last of my things in the locker. Amelia looked over her locker, giving me a sly smile. “Yes I believe I did…why are you so interested in my brother?” she teased. I rolled my eyes as I slammed my locker shut.  “Really Mel? Neither one of us has seen him in over a year. That little twerp didn’t even text me…we were the deadly trio” I whined. Amelia sighed, closing her locker as well. “You know how Alpha training can be Mel…he barely had time to talk to us…and we’re family” I felt bad for being so whiny towards her. Victor was her brother, and she was probably the one that missed him the most, being twins and all. I pulled her into a bear hug, snuggling into her neck to tickle her. “Sorry Mel…I was being a jerk and it was unnecessary” I mumbled. She giggled and pulled away, flicking my forehead.  “Don’t be. When my bro gets here we’ll give him his punishment” there was a glint in her eyes that made me gulp. When she set her mind to something, there was no going back….and that was dangerous half the time. “Well how about we head to homeroom and find our seats” I suggested. Amelia nodded and grabbed my arm, hugging me towards her as we bounded off towards our first class of the day.  Some of the kids would wave at Amelia and myself, and the select few, which we dubbed the snotty club would send death glares, particularly towards me. I mean, it’s not every day a human was the best friend of the Alpha family. They probably think I’m beneath them. Yep, some wolves still have that traditional ideals that humans should bow down to them, as we are weak, puny, and will only drag them down.  In a sense I’m happy I’m not a werewolf. Imagine the pressure of having to keep yourself in check around humans that don’t know who you are? I’m glad this school is diverse, and the humans that do reside here are the ones that know of the supernatural world, and can only be accepted by ‘invitation.’ This is probably to make sure our location isn’t divulged easily, and to prevent security breaches. Another good thing about being human? I don’t have to deal with the mates’ issue.  The way Amelia makes it seem sounds a little too slavish for me. I mean, you’ll only have eyes for that one person? No one else will be attractive? Bound for life? Where’s the fun in that! No dating different guys to find your type? No flirting or fun? Wolves hold mates in high regards, so I make sure to never make fun of it in front of them, but I’m thankful I’m a human and can choose who I want to be with. I’ll make sure to have fun on Amelia’s behalf too….though secretly.  We got to our first class and headed straight towards the back next to windows. High fiving on our luck, Amelia sat in front of me and I sighed, sitting behind her contently. While I may be a people person, I don’t like being in the front near the teachers. If my scent is how Amelia describes, I wouldn’t want wolves constantly drooling over it if I’m front and center. At least back here I won’t be the center of attention. Who am I kidding though right? Their sense of smell is beyond anything. But I like to live in a delusional bubble that as long as I’m behind them, and no draft, my scent won’t be bothering anyone. How considerate am I right?  Our homeroom teacher finally entered the class along with the rest of the kids. Our teacher was a werewolf as well, but he was one the nice ones. “Heya Lina, Amelia” I turned to the side and spotted Tommy Eaton. My oh my did he looked divine! His black hair was short and messy, and his eyes were a nice hazel color. He was about six feet as well, lean muscled and a human. “Well morning Tommy” I replied with a grin. Mel turned around and rolled her eyes at me.  “Hey Toms…how was your summer?” she asked politely. “Boring. Had to spend it out of here so I couldn’t get a chance to see my favorite person in the whole world” Tommy responded. I raised an eyebrow at him, curious as to who this person was. “Oh, and who would that be?” I questioned, a smirk on my face as I wanted to know who his secret crush was. Amelia snorted and turned back around, as Tommy sat down on the desk beside mines. Tommy’s gaze went from Amelia’s to my own and he smiled. For a second I noticed a flash of hurt but he quickly masked it.  “Well I’m honored enough to sit by her so maybe she can figure it out” Tommy responded with a chuckle. I furrowed my brows, feeling a weird tension in the air suddenly. I looked at Amelia, who wasn’t sparing a glance towards us and on Tommy, who kept his gaze on mines. “Huh?” I pointed to myself and Tommy laughed, nodding his head slightly. My face turned a shade of red as I laughed nervously, scratching my cheek. Tommy likes me? Me?!!! Oh God, this is like a dream come true! But, why would he like a tomboy like me? And why is Amelia so serious suddenly?  “Alright class, I have an important announcement to make” the teacher broke our conversation as we all sat up straight, giving him our attention. “As you are aware, our soon to be Alpha has just arrived, and it will be an honor for him to join our class, so please welcome your Alpha Victor Silverlight” I perked up at the introduction as I turned my attention towards the door. Vic arrived? Why was I suddenly so nervous? My hands were shaking slightly as I placed them under the desk on my lap, feeling suddenly clammy and sweaty. What the hell was wrong with me?  Oh god I hope the wolves didn’t hear my erratic heartbeat! It was thumping too loudly for my taste. Get a grip Lina! He’s just your childhood friend who disappeared for a year and didn’t bother to even call or text you. Start operation silent treatment! Yes, that’s what I should do. I reached into my bag and pulled my phone out, completely ignoring the opening door. I was not going to give him the satisfaction of seeing me happy for see him. Nope! I’m going to just open this game….”Miss Hayes” s**t…I looked up at my teacher, frowning in disapproval at my lack of care over the future Alpha. My eyes drifted from the teacher towards – oh my….god! My eyes widen as I saw Victor. He looked…different. He was standing tall and muscular, his shirt hugging all his muscles and abs and those jeans. Holy s**t he was hot! His sandy blond hair was short and messy, his skin was tanned from being in the sun and those eyes! I heard a growl and snapped my attention as he narrowed his eyes at me. Wait what? He’s growling at me? That snapped me out of my mini drool fest as I narrowed my eyes at him, crossing my arms defiantly and turning my head towards the window.  “Mr. Eaton, I need you to move to the seat in front of you” The teacher spoke. “Wait why? I was here first?” Tommy complained, earning another growl from Victor. The teacher looked rather pale and shook his head at Tommy. “Toms…just move. I won’t bite” Amelia responded, turning her attention to him. She had the same piercing look as her brother and Tommy sighed, grabbing his things and moving up a seat. I stared at the two and noticed a lot of awkward tension between them. Why do I feel like Amelia is hiding something from me? The scraping of the chair brought me back to my senses as I turned my head, watching Victor sit next to me. Well s**t…this is going to be a long school year…
