Chapter 1
Marcy’s POV                                 I was running around my room grabbing things to get ready since I was running late. I had a family coming to pick up a painting they had requested 6 months ago that I just recently finished, and I had to meet them in ten minutes. I threw on a pair of light grey skinny jeans and a grey top with a sun and moon on it. I put my hair into a ponytail and ran down the stairs I put on a pair of black vans and ran out the door grabbing my keys and locking the door. I was worried they would leave if they waited too long, so I started running down the street in the direction towards my gallery.                 It was half owned by my friend sierra and she probably already there which I hope so since she can let the family in. The gallery had two rooms which we use to paint so normally those rooms are messy, the front is clean and has paintings and other art on display then we have a small section we do for lessons.                 When I turned a corner, I didn’t see a man there and I ran right into him falling on my butt. I whined a small ow out and rubbed my butt. I got up, when I looked up my eyes widened as I saw who I just ran into. I was shocked and kind of scared that I had just ran into one of the richest men in the state. I started to ramble out an apology.                 “I am so sorry sir, I’m running a late and I was in a rush and I didn’t see you as I turned the corner and I’m just sorry.” He silenced me before I could continue what I was saying.                 “Next time watch where you’re going.” Damien Knight snapped. I nodded at him and he grumbled out something under his breath. I looked down and mumbled a quick apology then ran off, leaving him behind. He was mad so I was happy that I was in a rush. I continued running for a few minutes before I arrived at my destination. I stopped outside for a moment to catch my breath and readjust myself.                 When I walked in I saw 3 people standing by a painting the woman was gazing at it as if she was inspecting it her husband was looking a little bored and her son who looked no older then five was looking around at all the paintings. The one they were standing by was of a first-person point of view looking off a ledge into the woods as the sun sets turning and the trees casting a shadow. I walked up to them and smiled the woman turned and looked at me with a smile.                  “I love the paintings you have on display.” She said.                 “Thank you and you must be Mrs. Lovelace. I have your family portrait done if you give me one moment, I will go grab it for you.” I smiled at her.                 “That would be great.” She said, I turned around and walked towards the back to grab the painting. I brought it out and put it on an empty easel that was near them. They walked over to it and stared at the painting inspecting it to make sure it was how they wanted it. On it had Mrs. Lovelace sitting in a chair her hands resting on her lap, with a smile, her husband standing behind her his hand resting on her shoulder. Her son was on the ground playing with a wooden toy train, a bear sitting next to him. He has the biggest smile on his face.                 “Thank you for the reference picture that you gave me it helped a lot.” I handed her the small picture back. She looked at the portrait with a big smile on her face. Her husband looked a little bit impressed but kept a blank face. He hasn’t said a word, the little boy tried to walk up and touch the painting, but his mother stopped him and pulled him back.                 “This is great I love it. Honey what do you think.” She asked her husband. He just nodded his head. She smiled and handed me the money for the painting. I covered it for them and helped them bring it outside. When they left, I walked back in and walked straight back to where sierra is. “Thank you for letting them in.” I said. She waved me off. “So, what do we have scheduled for today?” I asked. She normally deals with the schedules and I do the sales. We decided that since I’m good around people. I walked back into the room where all my stuff is and grabbed my apron.                 “Well we have two more people coming in to pick up artwork around noon, lessons for a group of young kids at three and at four-thirty we have a few teens coming in for lessons.” She said looking over at the schedule. I walked into the room she’s in and looked over the schedule. We had enough time in between everything to work on a few things.                 “You will never believe who I ran into today. And I mean literally ran into.” I said walking through the door into the other room. I filled a cup of water and put it on the cart next to my easel.                 “I don’t know Johnny Depp?” She said. I walked back into her room and gave her a look. I stopped next to her.                  “I wish but no. It was Damien Knight.” She gave me a look that said I don’t believe you. “He was a d**k and completely ignore my apology. I didn’t even see him I turned a corner and ran in to him and he didn’t even fall. I was the one who fell.” I said.                 “So you ran into Damien Knight the hot billionaire.” Sierra asked me. She didn’t look like she believed me. I nodded at her. I looked at what she was working on, it was a charcoal drawing of a girl. I don’t really like using charcoal but if I need to, I will use it, but I rarely do. “I don’t believe you.” She said.                 “Well it happened, he wasn’t very nice either. I said sorry like four times and he ignored it.” I said. I turned around and walked back towards the front. I can hear here laugh and mumble something under her breath.                 “Well were you rambling on like you normally do when you are nervous?” she asked. I didn’t say anything because she was right, I was rambling, which I don’t mean to its kind of a force of habit. “I’m right that’s why you aren’t saying anything.” I could hear her grin. I rolled my eyes and walked back to my room, grabbed my paintbrushes and paints.                 “There’s times where I want to wipe that grin off your face when you are being smug.” I said. She laughed again and walked into the room I’m in and looked at me.                 “I know you do but you wouldn’t because you love me.” She said leaning on me. I pushed her off me and stuck my tongue out at her. She laughed again. “You’re so childish.” She continued laughing. I glared at her and mumbled jerk under my breath. Which she must have heard me because she laughed louder.                 “You know your ego is so high I’m pretty sure someone can high dive off of it.” I said. She just continued laughing.                 “Was that supposed to be an insult. Because if it was that was a pretty bad insult.” She said while laughing. Sometimes I hate her. But she’s my best friend so I love her. She walked back into the room she was working in leaving me alone.  I spent the next few hours working on a picture someone had requested.                   “Marcy Mr. jones is here for his painting I put it up on an easel out in the front for you.” Sierra walked towards me smiling. I got up and walked out of the room. I saw a man standing in the front waiting. I walked up to him and smiled.                “Hello Mr. Jones, I am Marcy it is nice to meet you.” I said holding out my hand to shake his. He grabbed mine and and we shook hands.                 “Nice to meet you too. I am here to pick up work that sierra has done. I was called and told it was finished recently.” He said. I smiled at him and walked over to the oil painting of a Great Dane sitting under an oak tree. It was in the setting of spring. I’m guessing it was his recently deceased pet. He smiled at it. He was happy to see how it turned out.                 “I can see that you like the outcome of the piece.” I said. He turned towards me and smiled.                 “It looks amazing. The sierra it looks amazing.” He said he quickly paid for it. I covered it and helped him take it to his car. I walked back in and a few minutes later another man walked in.                 “Hello sir, how may I help you?” I asked. I walked up to him and smiled. He had a stern look on his face.                 “I’m here to pick up artwork for Mr. Ramirez.” The man said.                “And you are?” I asked normally the people who order come in to pick up themselves.                “I am his assistant, jack stellar.” I nodded and looked at the paper seeing if he had anyone else picking it up. I didn’t see any other name, so I turned back towards him.                 “I will have to call Mr. Ramirez and ask him if he sent someone to pick it up for him. I’ll be back in one moment.” I said. I walked towards the back and typed in the number given. It rung a few times before he picked up. We talked for a few minutes before he hung up. I walked back out to the front. “Okay I got the clear from your boss and he said he gave you a check.” I said. He nodded and handed it to me.  I brought out the painting. “Would you like to see it before you leave?” I asked.                “No thank you.” He came and grabbed the painting and left. I walked back towards sierra and she smiled at me.                 “Want to go and get some lunch?” I asked her. She looked at me and had a huge grin on her face. She loves food. She’s always has a snack with her. “I’m guessing that’s a yes with the look on your face.                 “That’s a big yes. Come on let’s go to the diner down the street.” She said grabbing my arm and pulling me out of the building. She turned and locked the door then continued to drag me along with her. Soon we got to the diner and she walked in like she owned the place. We sat in a booth and looked at the menu.                 “Hello, my name is Stella, I will be your waitress today. What can I get you for drinks?” The woman said. I smiled at her and ordered a dr. pepper, Sierra ordered a sweet tea. The waitress walked away, I continued to look at the menu.                 “I think I’m going to get the bacon cheeseburger with curly fries. What are you getting?” Sierra asked me. I looked through the menu still trying to decide.                 “I think I’m going to get a cheeseburger with onion rings.” I answered to her. She smiled at me, I knew she was going to steal my onion rings as I am going to do with her curly fries. The waitress walked back with our drinks.                 “Are you ladies ready to order or do you need more time?” She asked, we repeated our orders to her, and she walked away. Sierra turned towards me with a devious look on her face.                 “So was Mr. Knight as hot in person as he is in pictures or is he hotter.” She asked. I groaned and gave her a glare.                 “Can you get your mind out of the gutter and not ask me questions about the guy who was being a jerk to me while I was trying to say sorry.” I said. She looked at me and smiled. I knew she would ask me this. She’s done it with every guy that I have met or dated.                 “What I really want to know because he looks like the god of sex.” I covered my face. She was embarrassing me people are here and they can hear what she is saying, and they are looking over at us.                 “Shut up people are looking at us.” I grumbled out right as the waitress walked over with our food. Sierra sitting across from me laughing I glared at her and grabbed a curly fry off her plate and threw it at her. She stopped laughing and glared at me. I gave her an innocent smile and picked up another curly fry eating it. She threw one at me then ate one of my onion rings.
