The Discovery of A Special Treasure Box

1250 Words
I stood at my place motionless for a few minutes watching the two monsters fighting each other. One was a big lion with strange double tails that worked as whips. The other one was like a big ape with two arms that were thickened with abnormal muscles and a jaw with four long teeth like swords. Both were ferocious looking, and their fight was getting crazier with each passing minute. If they were spiritual animals in my cultivation world, then I would say they were fighting for a treasure, something that would help them evolve. However I knew best that this game was free of such things. So, their battle had no logical reason for me except if they were fighting for dominance. The battle began to move towards the forest, where I followed carefully. From time to time I used my black eye skill to detect if there was any other monster, however after delving for more than half an hour deep into the woods, I never met a single monster. By time, the two monsters’ flame of life began to flicker and grew weaker. Their battle didn’t decrease in intensity, on contrary it increased without any pause. I watched the two monsters killing each other without moving a finger towards them. I was tempted to move and finish them but I hesitated. They looked weak but they were still dangerous. I preferred to wait for them to be not able to move like the one I just killed. However even after the passage of another half an hour, they didn’t stop their fight until one of them was dead. I sighed, both of them didn’t give me the chance to do anything. Just as I was about to move back, I noticed the movement of the lion. It was walking with great difficulty heading straight towards the heart of the forest. As far as I knew, the heart of this forest had nothing special about it. I thought the lion would sit there and rest for a while, or feast on the meat of its dead foe. However it didn’t rest nor feast, it started to move. ‘There is something fishy going on here.’ That was what I felt, as this lion began to go deeper inside the forest. I hesitated for a moment then I began to follow it. throughout the journey to the heart of the forest I didn’t meet a single monster at all. It seemed they were afraid of this lion, and that meant also this lion was able to sense my presence. However it didn’t do anything yet, either it was severely wounded or I didn’t pose any threat to it, or both. I began to follow the lion while creating a suitable distance between the two of us. I knew this lion was wounded, however that also meant it was in its most dangerous moments. I needed to be more careful. I was led by my curiosity to know where this lion would go, and after another half an hour I got my answer. He was heading straight towards a deep pit in the ground. I didn’t follow it inside this deep groove, as I felt uncomfortable just looking at it from the surface. So I used my skill, the black eye skill. Once I activated it, everything turned foggy white in my plain sight, with one dark weak dot and a glaring big golden yellow dot. It struck me then, it seemed monsters here in this world were also attached to treasures, treasure chests. From the size of this golden yellow dot I speculated how big this treasure box was, and how special too. However I wasn’t crazy to enter there for now, as I retreated first away from that place. I just marked it on my map so I would return here later when my level exceeded level ten. As for now, I had to distribute my points that I got from leveling up. Ten free points were available to me now, and I had to think clearly about what I should do with them. The first thing that popped in my mind was to use these points fairly between Vitality and strength, however I wasn’t feeling so good about that. I was an assassin after all, a killer known for my speed. Neglecting Agility wouldn’t be wise later on, so I decided to distribute the points fairly like this: Vitality Four points, Strength three points, and Agility three points. Doing so would help to keep my main stats balanced. I gained three levels, which meant I had now thirty points. So, I didn’t hesitate and allocated my points as I decided. My new stats were as followed: ‘Vitality: 17 Strength: 19 Intelligence: 1 Agility: 29 Endurance: 1 HP: 170 Attack: 95 Mana: 5 Speed: 0.3 Defense: 5’ The strange thing I noticed was the decrease of my speed, which wasn’t something favorable by me. I thought by increasing and supporting strength with agility everything would be balanced. However  the end result wasn’t like what I wanted or planned for. So, I decided to change this strategy, I wouldn’t support strength for now. Each few levels I would allocate some points to strength, however from now on I would distribute points fairly between Vitality and Agility. After I finished doing so, I felt the strength of increasing my stats as I kept leaping from a place to a place trying to imitate my old moves. I needed to adapt to my old body with my new weakened strength. I considered myself as being reborn, needing to learn everything from scratch. As I learnt everything before, I would learn everything now, just I needed some time plus leveling up all the time. I must be the strongest person here in this game. So the next step for me was to look for monsters and kill them. I knew there was a skill out there that could make me scout the details of any monster, however I didn’t have it. So, I moved based on that kid’s memory, using the current disturbance caused by that huge battle and fearsome lion to delve deeper into the forest. I needed to reach its outskirts where the monsters were weaker. As my level enhanced, my stats increased, I didn’t put any weak monster in my eye. So I began to use the black eye skill to assess any monster’s strength. Monsters here were distributed chaotically, as you might pump into high level monsters amidst a group of weaker monsters. This was called an ambush by the players from the kid’s memories. I didn’t want to make things difficult for me, especially leveling up to level nine was always easy. The amount of XP needed was really small, so many players could cross that nine levels gap in less than two days. However the gap to reach level ten was wide, much wider than the nine levels grouped together. So, it was normal for players to take longer to cross that threshold. If you added to the mess that level ten monsters were really rare to be found on this side of the lake, then the risk would grow more, and the time needed to level up would increase. Fighting at the other half of the lake meant I would die at any moment, and each death would take me a few steps to the back. I shook my head as I didn’t need to worry myself about this step yet. First I needed to find a suitable place to level up quietly, as I put the target of reaching level nine today as my goal. After all I entered the game delayed two weeks from other players. I was already at a disadvantage.
