Starting at The Wilderness

I closed my eyes and opened them wide as I lay on the ground at once in an immediate responsive move. The ground was full of low grass, however thick. Lying there made me catch the smell of something I was used to, the scent of blood. It really felt great smelling this scent, I felt like being home.  Gradually my eyes began to get accustomed to the dim light of this place. It was near evening here, and despite the sun being in the sky, these long trees around me made it hard for the light to reach my place. I appeared at the outskirts of some forest in the middle of nowhere. However I expected something like this to happen, as from the memories of that kid I knew the nature of this game. According to that kid’s memories, this game was truly different from others in his world, as other games would allow players to appear at safe places named as novice villages. However this game didn’t allow players to play safely, in fact as I had two years of this kid’s experience and knowledge I could judge clearly and honestly by this: whoever planned this game had a sick mind in his head. He was brilliant and wicked, but he was sick and toxic too. As for me, with these two years of knowledge in the future, I didn’t care. in fact I liked this game better, as it suited my just and violent temper. Armed with two years' knowledge I could design anything and get it. I wasn’t afraid of losing what others would lose, and when my luck ran out I could depend totally on my success that I would get with my hard effort. The first thing I did was to do nothing, as I tried to sense the spiritual energy here out of habit, but I found none. This place was like a desert, with no sign of any spiritual energy at all. Out there I might have sensed a very weak existence of spiritual energy, and both results were the same to me. I couldn’t practice cultivation again, what a loss. I sighed, as my luck in this ordeal was the worst ever. I began to move out of this place, as I already knew how dangerous it was if I stayed here at night. It didn’t take me a couple hundreds of meters to exit this forest, and the scene I was welcomed with was really breathtaking. A large lake with strange silver water and a crystal golden yellow shore around it was in front of my horizon. Between me and that lake there was an open space of low grass world full of different kinds of plants and flowers. I recognized this place, this was the lake of the lady, the heart as many players used to call it. showing up here meant that I was nearly in the center of my own territory, which was both good and bad news at the same time. The lady lake separated the world here into two different categories, one was meant for beginners, and the other was meant for higher levels. I checked the place again, as the only defining mark of this was the presence of a long, serpent like river. The river wasn’t here, and that meant I was in the safe zone for now. However being so close to the lady lake wasn’t a good sign after all. There were many occasions when advanced monsters roamed outside their area of dominance and attacked players near the lake. Being here was risky, however the only way to get out of here was to enter the forest, which was more risky. The forest was filled with many monsters that would go berserk at night. There were a couple of hours at max for the night to fall, so it wouldn’t be wise to travel into the forest for now. All I had now was to look for a good place to hide, and then try to raise my powers using my deserved rewards.  Unfortunately for me, that kid didn’t even manage to set foot on this area before, so all the info I had in my mind came from what he read on the forums. My luck was bad, as I was sent into the body of a loser. If he was a great or perhaps a good player, my options would be much better than now. I didn’t stand in my place for a long time, as I began to scout the area and search for any suitable place to hide. This time I missed my divine sense so much, as I could have searched every speck of dust here without the need to move a muscle. For my luck this time I found a groove in the earth that had a small cavity in it. it looked safe without any other opening or hidden paths in it. It was like a small room underground, with the only way in or out was the entrance. As for that entrance, I had to return again to the forest to look for something suitable to cover it. I found broken branches scattered everywhere on the ground. It seemed this place had seen a ferocious battle not long ago. Lucky for me it happened before I arrived here, and now I had a chance to close that opening and make it look like it was part of the grass. I gathered a good amount of strong looking branches, and then headed back towards the place of my hiding. Along the way, I began to cut some weeds to use them as a cover, and also to wrap the branches together. Once I reached there, I began to form my own door, using these branches and weeds to hold them together. It wasn’t the best cover, however it was enough to make me away from harm that night. It took me a couple of hours to finish these, and just before the sun went off I was lying down inside my hiding pit covered with the door I just made. I lied there, in nearly complete darkness, however I wasn’t afraid. I loved darkness, it was the theatre that I used to play at. So, I didn’t feel any discomfort when I closed the door above my head and laid my back over the ground which was covered now by a layer of long weeds from the forest. After all, I wasn’t planning on sleeping on bare ground, that wasn’t my nature. Once I lied there, I finally had my first moment of peace after all these crazy things that started with my betrayal by a woman. This place reminded me of my old me, which was good for me. ‘Let’s open the gifts now, show me the rewards.’ I recalled this order from the kid’s memories. At once a long list of sounds rang in my ears one after another like a beautiful symphony. “System Notif: Player has a list of rewards from the game. the list will be displayed now.” “System Notif: Double sword skill: passive skill. it enables the player to use two swords efficiently.” “System Notif: Does player wish to learn the skill now? Y/N?” I didn’t hesitate to say: “Yes.” “System Notif: Double sword skill is learnt.” “System Notif: Sword shadow skill: active skill. it makes the sword hit the target without showing any movement. It requires five stamina. Duration: ten seconds. CD: fifteen seconds.” “System Notif: Does player wish to learn the skill now? Y/N?” “Yes.” “System Notif: Sword shadow skill is learnt.” “System Notif: The Pioneer Title: Special Title. Unique only for player Ozwald the just. In the radius of fifty meters, any monster will be subjected to a weakened state that lasts as long as the title is equipped.” “System Notif: Does player wish to equip the title now? Y/N?” “Yes, equip it and let me be fearsome to these beasts.” “System Notif: Title has been equipped.” “System Notif: player can choose one lifestyle class from these: scout- navigate- analyze- black eye. Which skill would the player choose?”
