“So, Alex tells me you have some misgivings about taking a chosen mate,” I prompt Calliope once I’m fairly certain my son and Queen Luna Allison are out of earshot. “Are you being forced into this?”
“If by forced you mean my parents claim I have no choice in this matter regardless of my own opinion all thanks to some old contract with Emerald Kingdom, then yes! I am being forced,” she tells me plainly. “I was not even told about this mating alliance contract until after we got here. And from what I’ve discussed with Alex today, he thinks there may be something not quite right with it all. Seeing as how my father has tried to mate me off to more than one other Royal Lycan recently, in Europe.”
