Prologue
It is said that the world was created by not one god, but many. The gods themselves were a large and loving, but dysfunctional, family. Among them was a set of twins, a boy and a girl. The boy grew into a man of learning and artistry: The God of the Sun, Medicine, and Prophecy. The girl grew into a woman of beauty and strength: The Goddess of the Moon, the Hunt, and Fertility. The twins deeply loved each other. Many wondered if their love was more than that of siblings.
When the Moon Goddess fell in love with a hunter, the Sun God became jealous. Tricked by her brother into killing her lover, the two began to battle each other, destroying lands and killing mortals along the way. Since Gods could not kill each other, the siblings created the first supernatural beings to act in their stead. Among these beings, the Goddess of the Moon created vampires. Born from the union of her and her re-animated dead lover, the first vampire walked the Earth. She was gifted with enhanced speed and strength, enough to destroy the Hunters created by the God of the Sun and gifted with the strength and knowledge to destroy the previous Children of the Goddess.
The God who ruled over all of the gods observed this. Concerned about the creation of creatures that could not only destroy each other, but humans as well, he ordered the two to stop fighting. Forcing them into a truce, making it so neither twin could create more children, nor could they fight each other. The Father God dictated that they let their creations finish the battle that they had started.
Millenniums have passed since the Moon Goddess was tricked into killing her lover. In that time, supernatural beings have bred and spread across every continent of the world. Few remember why they were created as they now fight amongst each other, not knowing their true origins. The Goddess of the Moon and the God of the Sun watch from the sky and wait for the time that their father’s prophecy will awaken.
