As everyone filed in, took their seats, and waited for the man of the hour, he and Reena—unbeknownst to Terrence—trembled with a different type of anticipation. They wanted to see the man sweat. They wanted to expose him once and for all.
Landry stepped into his allotted space, and the Jade Room exploded into applause. Jonah felt his lip curl into a sneer. These people were like blind sheep. It wasn't a great thing to feel like one of the only competent people in a sea of ignorance. But the worst part was the person who took advantage of them.
A sharp whack on his arm turned his attention to Reena, who widened her eyes in warning.
“Cool it, buddy,” she mouthed, and pointed at Terrence, who painstakingly contained his own enthusiasm out of respect for his friends.
