10. Chapter – Nicole

When I came home last night it was really late and dad was already sleeping. I barley slept at night which almost caused me to fall asleep during History. Jacob was in school today and made sure I didn't fell asleep during school. Now I'm going to Math class with him trying not to fall on the floor and sleep there.

»Did you sleep at all last night?« Jacob asked me while looking at me wirried.

»No. Is it that obvious?«

»No. Only if you look close.« we walked the rest of the way to Math class.

»Well I have to go now. Have fun in Math. I'll see you in Gym class.« »Why? Don't you have Math with me?« »No. Beside Math we don't have together Spanish and Biology. But don't worry everything else we have together.« »Fine. At least I'll have Michelle.« »You met her? When?« I could see confusion in his eyes. »Yes I met her yesterday. She showed me to principal's office. And then I had Spanish with her. I was supposed to have English with her to obut she had other things to do. She's nice.« »Good that you get along. Now you know someone else beside your brothers. See you soon.« »See you.«

Stepping in class I couldn't see Michelle anywhere. I sat down and waited for her. But the person who sat next to me wasn't her. It was Nicole. I was beyond confused.

»Hi. I'm Nicole.«

»Hi. I'm Evelyn. I don't wanna be rude but why are you sitting here?« I responded cerfully not wanting her to hate me.

»I want us to be friends.«

»Why?«

»Well. Why not? Plus I'm curious about you.« the teacher came in and saved me from talking to her any longer. She said we can work alone or in pairs we could pick oursleves. Since Michelle didn't come in Math class I didn't know who to be with and decided to be by myself. But Nicole asked to work together and I didn't want  to be rude.

»Can I ask you something? You don't have to answer it if it's too personal. I'll understand.«

»Sure. What is it?«

»How's that you are Ethan's younger sister but nobody knew he had one?«

How did she know? Nobody knew but Michelle. Did she hear us talking during lunch? But that's imposible. She was sitting to far to hear anythig.

»I was living with my father fort he past 8 years. Personal reasons.«

»Okay. You don't have to tell them. I understand. Do you want to sit with me during lunch today? Your siblings could sitwith us too?«

»Don't you sit with your brother and friends? I don't want to intrude.« really i was just looking for an excuse not to sit with her.

»Well I could come to sit with you. We don't have to sit with them.« I know I said I will stay away frome William and Nathan. But I didn't say anything about staying away from her.

»Sure.« she smiled and her eyes sort of became foggy a little bit but it lasted only a second.

The res tof the Math went by fast. I had no idea what we were doing. She saw that and solved everything herself while explaining it to me. I released how far behind Math was in Italy. I'll defenetly fail this class.

»I saw you had some trouble in Math. Do you need help? I could help you.« »Thanke you. I never had trouble in Math until now. When I was in ITaly we weren't even close to what we are leaning here.« she smiled and we said goodbye.
