Baine's POV
I was gripping the steering wheel so hard my knuckles were turning white.
Everything I was trying not to think about came crashing into me. Deep down I knew Mia and Jordan would eventually start a family. My mind just knew not to go there. Well, at least not until now, when it was thrown in my face.
I was speeding way to fast. I just needed to get off these grounds and clear my head.
Colby grabbed my shoulder. "Man, you need to slow down."
I hit the breaks slightly. "Sorry, you're right. I just need to get out of here. "
Colby sighed. "You do realize we left too soon, right? We never got a chance to talk with Mira."
I slammed my head against my seat. He was right. That was the whole point of coming here. The whole point of risking to see Mia.
Sharon had given us the bare minimum of information and I was hoping Mira might know more about these so called twin witches that might be behind all of this.
Sharon wasnt very forthcoming. She had to know we would ask her daughter about them. Or maybe she thought i wouldn't risk coming here.
I was lost in my own thoughts. I was dreading the day we would have to come back here.
I heard Colby yell from beside me as he put his hand on the dash board. "Dude, watch it."
I slammed on the breaks to see Mira standing in the middle of the long drive way to Rosie's pack.
I was only few feet from hitting her. She put her hand up and waved awkwardly before coming around to my window. I rolled it down.
She smiled. "I was just heading to Liams office. I thought you boys had some questions to ask me about my mother?"
Colby leaned across me. "We still do. Dumb-dumb over here panicked when he saw Mia."
She patted the car door where the window was down. "Yeah, that would do it."
She smiled wickedly at Colby. Not in a bad way. Just in a way that made me feel pathetic.
Mira pointed her thumb behind her. "Why dont we go back to my place and we can talk there. We will be alone. I'll link Rosie to keep Mia at the pack house and we won't have to rush talking at my cottage.
I nodded. "Can we drive there or do we need to pull over and park?"
"Pull over and park. There's not a drive to my cottage. It's how I wanted it."
I pulled over and locked the car as we followed her out in the woods. Even after all this time being out in the woods here still creeps me out. I will never admit that out loud though. I don't need Colby giving me any more s**t than he already does.
Her cottage wasn't far. Maybe a half mile where we parked. Her cottage was small and only two bedroom. I think she designed it that way. She doesn't seem to care about material things.
We entered and it was warm and inviting. There wasn't much for decor wise. But she had herbs and potted plants everywhere. She pointed to the small couch. "Have a seat. Do you boys want any tea?"
Colby and I looked at each other and both shook our heads. I spoke for both of us. "No, I think we're good."
She nodded. "Okay, give me a moment to make myself one. I feel like i may need it if it has to do with my mother."
We waited patiently and quietly for her to return from the small kitchen.
She sat down on the chair across from us and crossed her legs. "Okay boys, what do you want to know?"
I leaned forward so my elbows were resting on my knees. "What can you tell me about the twin witches? I guess one is heir to some huge coven.
She snorted. "Some coven? Try the biggest and oldest coven known and I mean by thousands of witches. They don't let anyone in and they dont let anyone out. Not anymore anyway. But now that you mentioned it I can see why my mother would think one of the twins is involved."
Great. Sharon was really holding out on us. "Can you tell us about them and why you may think that?"
She nodded. "Yes, I'm afraid it's a long story. I hope you boys dont have any plans."
Colby kicked off his shoes. "Nope, we got all night if needed."
Mira crinkled her nose. "That won't be necessary. I'll need to get my daughter at some point."
I glared at Colby for making her uncomfortable. "Please, just tell us what you know."
She nodded slowly and took a deep breath. "From the rumors the coven isn't located all that far from here. It's was ran by warlock named Atticus Ravenwood. He had one daughter named Audrah. Which is who I believe is running the coven now. The coven is hidden by spells so no other supernaturals or human can locate it. It repels us from traveling directly through it. Even I can't access or find it because I'm not an active member of the coven. Plus they demand all members stay on their grounds."
Mira ran her fingers through her hair nervously. I could tell it wasn't easy for her to tell us this information. "Atticus was very strict especially after Audrahs mother died. Audrah grew up not being able to leave. As any teenager she dreamed of traveling and seeing the world. But like any supernatural she wanted to find her beloved or mate as you werewolves call them. If a coven members beloved wasn't in the coven they usually took a chosen one or remained single. When Audrah turned eighteen and her beloved wasn't in the coven, she took matters into her own hands. She took the spell down around the gate, she was the only one that was powerful enough to do so."
Colby sighed. "What does this have to do with twins?"
Mira snapped. "I'm getting there. It's crucial you know the whole story."
I linked Colby. "Shut up, you know we need to hear this. It's not like you to lose your cool like this."
He pouted. "Sorry, please continue." He said.
Mira cleared her throat. "Anyways. Audrah did what she was said out to do and traveled. What she wasn't expecting was to find her beloved in a near by pack."
I scrunched my eyebrows realizing where she was going with this. "Audrahs beloved was a werewolf?"
Mira nodded. "An Alpha werwolf. They were marked with in the week. She loved Dalton with everything she had. She even became luna of his pack and vowed to never return to her coven, even though she was the only heir. Daltons pack wasn't very welcoming to her. But neither one of them cared. They were so in love and they didn't care how different they were. I'm sure you know that back then it was still a big deal. She fell pregnant within the year and had two beautiful twin daughters named Delta and Ariella. Ariella was born first by five minutes making her the heir to the coven. Unfortunately someone betrayed Dalton and Atticus found his daughter. He demanded that she returned home with him. He threatened the life of the whole pack. Audrah felt as the Luna she had no other choice put to protect her pack knowing it wouldn't take much for her father to wipe them out. So she rejected Dalton and left him Delta to raise. Her father agreed only because he didn't feel any magic coming off Delta and Ariella already seemed to have great power to her already."
I shook my head in disbelief. It was already sounding so f****d up and I fully believed the story was just getting started.
Mira sipped her tea for a moment. I think mostly she needed a breather. So I thought.
A large knock came to Mira's door. I gave her a confused look. "Are you expecting someone?"
She shrugged her shoulders, but didn't seem panicked. I have a feeling I wasn't going to like who was behind the door.
