Baine's POV
Mira didn't seem in a big hurry to get the door, but I sure as hell was.
I opened the door to see Jordan on the other side. I took a step back as he stepped in. He wouldn't look me directly in the eyes. He just looked over where Mira was sitting. "Sorry, I'm late."
I glared at Mira. "I thought you said you would keep them away."
Mira shook her head. "No, I agreed to keep Mia away."
Fucking witches.
I still wasn't understanding. "Okay, but what does this have to do with him?"
She stood from my chair. "This is my home and he is my Beta. Plus, Rosie felt like Jordan should hear this story. Rosie filled him in on Sharon, so the secrets out."
Jordan leaned against the wall. I could tell he was pissed and maybe rightfully so.
Mira filled him in on the story in a shorter version. One we could've been told, but whatever.
She picked up where she left off and her voice slowed down like she was back to taking her time. "Dalton didn't handle the rejection well. His heart shattered and as you know it's hard for anyone to recover from a broken mate bond. He knew Audrah did it to save him and his pack, but he couldn't get over it. He became a drunk and very brutal to anyone who crossed him. He was no longer a good Alpha. He treated his daughter terribly. Solely because her raven hair and sea blue eyes reminded him of Audrah every day. He was cold and distant with her and the pack treated her horribly because he did. She took the abuse daily in hope she would come into her magic at sixteen and prove that she could help protect the pack. She desperately just wanted her father's approval and praise. She wanted to show everyone she had a purpose in the pack. Especially since she was the only witch. But again that wasnt her fault, Dalton told her that her mother and sister had died during childbirth and he Alpha commanded anyone from telling her the truth. But when she was sixteen she didn't come into her magic. She actually had no idea what to do and how could she? No one was there to be able to teach her."
Mira sighed in sadness. "Ariella however had what anyone would consider an easy life. She had everything she could ever want. A power like no one has ever seen at sixteen and beauty that never got unnoticed. She had blonde curly hair like her father, but had her mother's sea blue eyes. But still she was unhappy being locked down and when her eighteen birthday came and she didn't find her beloved in the coven, she too felt the urge to leave like her mother did."
Mira licked her lips like they were getting dry. "Delta endured a pain no women she have to go through. The future beta of her pack was enchanted by her beauty, but rumor has there wasn't anyone who wasn't. He never treated her poorly, but she rejected his advances. One night he didn't take no for an answer and he raped her. That night something lit inside her. She ran out into the woods broken and disoriented and happened to run into another witch. A dark witch who promised to help her with her magic and the dark witch did, a little to well if you ask me. But anyways, she avoided the future beta until one night he caught her coming from the woods. Only this time she was able to fight him off with her magic. He had servere wounds and had to be hospitalized. She wasn't able to hide it any longer and went to her father hoping he would punish the beta and understand why she had to hurt him. The problem was that Dalton was so drunk that he blamed Delta for it and called her a tease like her mother. Which is what she feared would happen. That's what it took for something in her to snap beyond repair. She ended up single handedly massacring the whole pack in a fit of rage. Everything in her turned dark and it was something she couldn't come back from. Not with that many innocent lives taken by her own hands."
Holy s**t. "I think I heard about this. She killed everyone, women and children too, right?"
Mira nodded. "She did and even though Audrah rejected Dalton, she still felt the brutal pain of his death. She thought she felt her daughters death as well, but it was just the darkness that took over the daughter she once had. She was heartbroken and dealing with so much grief that when Ariella asked to leave the coven, her mom helped her do it. She wanted her daughter to experience the kind of love that she did and she vowed to never take it from her. Audrah blamed herself for leaving Dalton and felt she caused his and her daughter's death. She wanted answers but she herself may never get them. It wasn't until weeks after Ariella left that she learned the whole pack was masscared by a dark witch. Audrah begged her father to open an investigation on it and he only agreed because of a dark witch being involved. They just had no idea it was there own flush a blood."
Colby was on the edge of his seat. "There's more to this story isn't there?"
Mira nodded, confirming what we all feared. My voice was low. "What happened to Ariella since she wasnt protected in the coven?"
I could see the emotion in Mira eyes. "This part of the story is new. No one knew what happened to Ariella until a few years ago. Apparently she found her beloved outside of the coven. A werewolf just like Audrah. I guess Audrah helped keep her hidden from Atticus. She just didn't know she needed to keep her hidden from Delta."
I gasped. "Ariella is dead?"
Mira whispered. "Yes, apparently Delta learned about Audrah and Ariella in Daltons things after she killed him. She was furious and some how she found Ariella. She thought the worst things of her. She couldn't believe her sister could be so selfish and leave the coven like she did. She hated her for possibly putting her own children through the pain and abuse that she went through. She thought Ariella should've appreciated her grandfather more for the life he given her and the title she would inherit. When Delta confronted Ariella and told her about her past she thought it would be enough for Ariella to take her to the coven, but Ariella refused because she sensed the dark the magic in her, so she killed Ariella's mate in front of her. Delta left not knowing that Ariella had already given birth to a daughter. At least that's the rumor and to do this day no one knows if its true. But if it is, Ariella daughter is the true heir to the coven and she has to be nearly eighteen now. When the rumors spread wide Delta confronted Ariella again knowing Ariella wouldn't leave her pack, but she denied it all and Delta killed her. But there is also another rumor that Ariella survived and that Audrah saved her just in time and brought her back to the coven. But no one knows for sure outside of the coven. I believe they learned Delta killed Daltons pack and That's how Audrah got to Ariella so quickly. It's because she was already on her way to warn her."
I was still so confused. "Why would she bring Dean back? I'm still not understanding her involvement in all of this."
Mira looked at my like I was an i***t. "Because she's the only one that has the power to do so. She's already lost everything. The only thing she cares about is getting into that coven and power. She wants to rule all the witches and if she slaughters Ariella daughter she will be the only remaining heir if Ariella is truly dead. Can you imagine how dangerous that would be for all supernaturals if she was in control of thousands of witches? She could wipe us all out if we refuse to follow her demands. Look what she did alone just to one pack. I think shes trying to control as many powerful supernatural creatures as she can, which is why I told Rosie that she, her mother and her son are in great danger. Even Harlow's baby. It's like shes recruiting and using threats to control people. I'm guessing bringing Dean back was for the sole purpose of him being a tool to gain what she wants."
