Deceitful Kingdom

Tatiana Prologue “Happy birthday, Tate!” Everyone yelled out around me, and laughter erupted from me as I felt their love consume me and wrap me with its warmth. Dad pressed a kiss to my temple while Mom kissed my cheek, making me hug them closer as I smiled, my dimples standing out to everyone. “Happy birthday, Tatiana. Sweet eighteenth, and I hope it brings you all the good things.” Dad told me with all the happiness in his voice with his gentle green eyes staring down at me. But then I felt it before I saw blood splattered all over my face and I opened my mouth to scream but no sound left me when I saw my father's body falling slowly. A bullet right in his head and his eyes lifeless, and the ringing in my ears made it impossible to hear another bullet get shot. I just felt my Mom's hands slipping away from my shoulders as she fell to the ground, too. What was that noise? All voices around were muffled, but they sounded like screams, but my eyes were glued to my parents. My dead parents. “Mom? Dad?” I whispered, my legs giving out, and I fell to my knees in front of them, and something inside me felt weird…" What was happening? A tear slipped, then another and another… This wasn't real. It couldn't be. This was a nightmare that I would soon wake up from… I had to. “Sir, what should I do with the daughter?” A voice asked, and I turned around, realising that everyone left. No, they ran away from the scene. I locked eyes with that man who talked, his eyes were so f*****g scary and it had me looking anywhere but them. Then I noticed the gun in his hand, he shot my parents… at my birthday party. He sighed, closing his eyes momentarily before he looked at me again as he ended the call with whoever he was talking to. “I'm sorry kid.” He apologised while raising the gun again and I closed my eyes, preparing myself for the inevitable death waiting for me and I didn’t mind, my parents were gone. Why would it have mattered to me? I heard the shot of the gun but it wasn't followed by pain or death and I opened my eyes to see that his aim was right beside my head now and my head turned to look behind me. My mom was taking her last breaths when another shot rang out and I screamed. “No! Why did you…” I trailed off, my power ceasing as I cried harder. “One day, you'll understand.” The man told me before I felt a harsh hit on my head and my world turned black.
