Chapter 3
The rest of the afternoon went fast. I worked in the property division of Reece's company, RK Financial Group. Property wasn't his main focus, but he had a hefty portfolio that required constant attention, particularly when he was adding new properties. My manager was a woman in her forties, a single mom with two kids who worked three days in the office and two from home. Whenever she was at home, I picked up anything that came across both our desks, even if it was strictly a managerial task. I liked the arrangement, and she was okay with me learning the ropes of her job. It made it easier for her to take time off when one of her kids was sick, or take them on vacation and not worry about work waiting for her when she returned.
