Neve POV
Silence fell between the two of us as I watch Jake’s eyes flicker between green and dark. The inner struggle for dominance between Jake and his wolf was apparent. I slowly raise my hand to Jake’s cheek and he visibly flinches when I touch him. I jerk my hand back, unable to hide the hurt in my eyes.
“I’m sorry,” he mutters, his teeth clenched. “I need to get out of here!”
And just like that, I was alone in the tent. I could hear Jake’s wolf paws pounding away into the distance.
Jake POV
Mark her! My wolf snarls at me.
No! I snap back.
But she just called us mate! His howls inside my head are deafening.
I know that, but it is too soon to mark her, we haven’t even mated yet, I try to reason with him.
There is no time to lose. If you don’t do it, I will.
