BANG BANG BANG!
"Huh?.. Wha-?"
A loud knock rapped loudly on my bedroom door throwing me out of my dream " Shi... Umm... Who is it?" I stuttered confused.
I tried to sound as alive as possible. My eyes burned open and read my alarm clock. 5:05AM...
Ten minutes before my original alarm.
"It's Susan, I just came to bring your coffee?"
AHH my only cure "Please come in Susan!"
Susan walked in carrying my cup of coffee and her cleaning trolly, she was one of the maids in the palace. "Good morning Ma'am!" she beamed placing my coffee beside me. I had no idea where this woman found her enthusiasm at this time in the morning....
"Morning" I groaned. I finally managed to swerve out of bed sideways, just about feeling the burn already "Aren't you meant to be off today?"
Susan ripped open my curtains, exposing me to the bright rays of the sunrise, I flinched from the light.
"Of course not! not on training day!" she laughed. She continued with her morning routine of tidying my bedroom. We never asked them to clean our space but they always insisted. it's actually rather sweet.
"Ahhh yes, training day...." I downed my coffee quickly and took myself off to the bathroom for a shower, I left the door ajar while I spoke to Susan "I don't suppose you know how many we have for today do you?"
I flicked on the shower and ran the hot water down on my core muscles. The heat helped me forgot how much I ached from my previous training session. "I believe we've set up the lunch buffet to feed sixty five today" she called.
Sixty five! not bad for this year.
"And how is the forecast today do you know?" I ran the shampoo all through my long black hair and let it run down my body. "Sunshine with cloud all day ma'am"
I hear her turn the hoover on and I knew that was conversation over.
I scrubbed myself down and rinsed my hair trying to wake myself up before attending to the Luna's morning duties. I insisted on doing them while she and the Alpha were away. She needed time off too..
But first things first I had to send out an email to all the other packs in a two hundred mile radius, rogues were reported roaming around last night while I slept. My Watchmen left me a message.
"Oh by the way, can I have breakfast sent to the Luna's office today please?" I shouted getting out the shower "Of course Ma'am! I'll have it sent up shortly" I dried myself off before throwing on my fresh tank top and cargo trousers. I never bother with my hair, I was one of the lucky ones who always had it naturaly straight when drying.
All set and ready to go!
I opened the door to see Susan Polishing my desk. This woman though....
"Dont go through the hassle of that. The room looks great as it is"
"But I insist" she replied still polishing away. I could tell she was in her element when she was cleaning, so I decided to not stand in the way "Okay, thankyou Susan" I grabbed my rucksack and got ready to go. Although I suddenly wondered... I can't be the only one awake can I?
I tried to mind link my men for the morning shift, but was instead met with complete silence. Lazy mutts. How dare they sleep in..
........
"Morning Ma'am"
"Morning Ma'am!"
"Good morning Ma'am"
I passed a lot of the palace staff on my way to the Luna's office, I was still not awake enough to engage, but I seriously needed to know, how did people gain their energy this early?
"Good morning Ma'am!'
A young butler held the office door open for me smiling at my appearance, I simply nodded In reply "Morning Luke"
I stepped through and dropped my rucksack by the printer. Breakfast was already made and served at the desk. "And thankyou for delivering this up to me"
It was nice how the staff here would go the extra mile to make little gestures.
"Is there anything else I can get you at all ma'am?" he had his note pad ready incase I was interested. But I refused "No thankyou, that will be all" I booted up the Luna's computer and waited for the loading screen. He bowed and closed the door behind him "Of course Ma'am"
I waited an extra ten minutes before finally having some more coffee, my duties required something to keep me going and today was the day I would need at least five cups.
"Now where are the announcement sheets?...."
------------------------------------------
(4 hours later)
At last! we were all set with the sand pits and attack targets filled up and ready to go!
I decided to skip ahead because my morning was rather boring as you can probably imagine...
"I'm afraid because your the last one here again, you have to be the rogue Alex"
Alex managed to run in just on time, but regardless he was the last one here. And my rules were law.
He dropped his stuff and regrettably got laughed at by all the guys. "I can live with it don't worry" he smiled cheekily, I could have sworn he tried to sneak a wink at me too... Weirdo.
"So whats today's body count commander?" Jenson interuppted. He was carrying a large barrel of shot-put balls over his left shoulder like boombox. "We're stuck with sixty five today" I stated "so please try play nice for 6 hours, they are only pups after all!"
I knew he was a bit hot headed and got carried away sometimes, I always had to keep a close eye on him just incase.
"And no losing your temper this time either... Hanger pains is not a reasonable excuse" he chortled and slapped his belly "keep this beast full an' you got a deal" he's a brick built man but you could definitely tell he liked his food. "Now, where do you want these bone breakers today?"
Bone breakers....
"Just over there Jenson" I pointed my pen over to a large life size mannequin, he saluted and carried them away.
We finally had all the equipment in all the areas needed. Just hoped the weather would stay on our side today!
"we'll need some refreshments at about one o'clock, and plenty of water" I mind linked the kitchen staff. "If anyone's available can someone bring out the cooler aswell?" I waited for my response and continued placing cones around the stage. I could feel my wolf stirring as she caught wind of Alex watching me...again
"Alex, shouldn't you be doing something?"
He snapped out of his trance and quickly grabbed the sports tape "Sorry. I just couldn't help but notice, your hair looks really nice today..."
......
Wow.
The silence between us began to drag out a little bit...
"Uh, thanks Alex" I quickly tried to break the tension fast "Go see if Jenson's ready with the whelps will you?"
I took a deep breath after he eventually took off. "This guy.. he just wasn't getting it... At all"
......
There was no other word for him, I couldn't help but feel bad at times, but I also got pissed off at his lousy attempts.
"He's not all bad, quite dashing really if you like that" my wolf purred. She was getting a little bit randy for my liking these days. "Please, the guy is all ego and no talk" I rolled my eyes.
I couldn't deny It, he was a good looking guy, definitely had the build and the speed going for him. He was also in my age range... But even with all that, AND the personality to top it all off...
It just didnt do anything for me.
I felt no attraction, no desire, no lust... Maybe it's just me, the girl who has no desires romantically.
But then saying that, the blood moon was due next week, and was also the first blood moon since my rebirth to the pack....
Will also be my first blood moon since coming of age too.
Long story short.
The tale of my packs name dates back many centuries, when the moon goddess blessed us with the blood moon on the day of our victory. It's ultimate gift is to show us where our fated mates were and would lead us through a scent trail to wherever they may be... Literally where ever they may be.
............
...........
...........
But I really have no time for a mate, so fat chance I'd be interested anyway.
I looked up and saw Alex running back with his stupid goofy smile still smeared across his face "The whelps are here" he panted. Good, the day can finally begin.
I gathered my men together and sent them to different parts of the course. "We're going to split into teams of five, don't forget to give them a five minute break in between sessions"
With everyone now in place I then took my position on the stage, and waited as the whelps came onto the pitch, their parents and friends followed closely behind.
"EVERYBODY GATHER AROUND, COME ON!" Jenson was herding the whelps over to me, while Alex was showing the adults where to sit.
I stood on the platform, waiting for silence. Everybody hushed and all eyes were now on me.
It's show time.
"Right everyone!" My Voice boomed out all the way to the back of the field, the whelps were definitely awake now. "Welcome to your first day of training! Looking out at all your young and fresh faces, I can already see that each and every one of you possesses the potential to one day become part of the Thornmoor army. But which of you will, is down to your skill, your strength...."
With that, one of my men launched a shot put directly towards my face at 60mph, I moved my head out the way with ease, allowing the shot put to fly past my face.
The kids all wowed in awe "And of course, your reflexes" I sent a quick nod over to my soldier.
"Now" I threw a bag of badges out to all the whelps "All of you are required to put these on during this session. We all take turns one hour per course, and we are all here to simply try our best today! there's no pressure, and no reason to worry, were all here to help you learn!"
I waited while everyone placed a badge on their shirts, "Nicely done commander" Alex linked from the back of the pitch.
"Now" I tried to ignore his face "Each of you has a different colour from some of the others. This is important that you do not take them off at any point!"
"The reds will go with Jenson to learn defense." Jenson waved from his spot by the shot puts.
"The blues will go with Simon to learn range."
"The greens will go with Alex to learn about speed and close contact"
"the purples will go with Ash to learn strength and self defence"
"and the blacks will come with me for combat"
The kids all whispered excitedly amongst each other and started to devide themselves into their teams. 10 children came and stood beside me.
"And in one hour we will all switch around and make sure everybody gets a turn in each course! If anybody needs help or has any concerns please talk to one of us here!"
We all held up our hands to show who to come to.
"On that note guys we ask that you all listen and have fun, everybody follow your team leaders!"
We all walked off with our teams following behind us. This year we had thirteen to fifteen year olds who were ready to embrace their werewolf blood.
"Is it true you single handedly tore apart the fourteen rogues of creech castle?"
An eager Young pup somehow managed to keep up his pace next to my stride. His eyes held a glimmer of excitement.
"Were they really six foot seven?"
"can you teach us how you survived that?"
"How many wolves have you slaughtered? I heard you hold the highest kill count in the world!"
"Wait, how is that even possible!?"
"Well it's in the council's records! I saw it myself!"
"So did I!"
"Can you teach us the jaw dislocation you did to the rogue in the west?"
........
The excited chatter of the children finally dimmed into the back of my mind, leaving me expressionless with thought. Was this really all I was known as to all these packs?
The rogue reaper?
The soul tearer?
Deaths scythe?
Unfazed I could only glance at their eager young faces and wonder how... So many strong spirits. Yet so many of them are already lost with power and strength.
