Bryan's POV
When I opened my eyes the next morning, a splitting headache pounded through my skull as if thousands of hammers had been smashing it all night. Every muscle in my body ached, and the icy forest air bit into my skin.
Then I realized...
I was naked.
The clothes I had worn the night before were torn to shreds, scattered among the grass and broken branches. Deep claw marks scarred the ground around me, and the nearby trees were splintered and uprooted as though a gigantic beast had rampaged through the area.
"What... happened?" I muttered.
Fragments of last night slowly resurfaced.
The Blood Moon eclipse.
My body changing beneath its crimson light.
Then...
"Alice...?"
My eyes widened.
"Alice!"
I scrambled to my feet and sprinted through the forest. Our tent had been ripped apart. The campfire had long gone cold. The first-aid kit lay abandoned on the damp ground.
Alice was gone.
Only faint footprints remained.
I clutched my head.
"No... don't tell me..."
I remembered the terror in her eyes. Her scream when she saw me. The memory was still painfully vivid.
"Monster..."
That single word echoed endlessly inside my mind.
My legs gave out, and I collapsed onto the ground.
By chance, my gaze fell upon my reflection in a rain puddle.
I still looked like myself.
Nothing had changed.
Then why had I become such a terrifying monster last night?
The memories felt too real.
Claws.
Fangs.
Razor-sharp nails.
Wolf fur.
It hadn't been a dream.
I clenched my fists.
"Impossible..."
An old memory resurfaced.
---
"Bryan... one day, I'll take you home."
"Home? Where?"
"To Agrari."
"What's Agrari?"
"It's where we come from."
"Is Dad there?"
Mom stayed silent for a long time before giving a small nod.
"Your father's name is Maxim."
"Then why has he never come to see us?"
She smiled bitterly.
"But... wasn't the man who used to visit you named Robert? Didn't you have a child with Robert?"
"Yes... but your father is Maxim. It's... complicated. Someday, you'll understand everything."
---
I squeezed my eyes shut.
All this time, I thought those stories were nothing more than fairy tales to stop me from asking about my father.
But...
My mother had never lied.
The truth she had hidden was far greater than I had ever imagined.
"I'm... a werewolf?"
The words felt foreign leaving my own lips.
Shock.
Fear.
Anger.
Every emotion crashed into my chest at once.
"Mom knew everything..."
How was I supposed to accept my identity after living all these years without knowing it?
I gritted my teeth.
"She knew who I really was."
"So why... why didn't she tell me?"
I slammed my fist into the tree beside me.
Crack!
The trunk split with a single punch.
I froze.
That strength...
It was impossible for an ordinary human.
Suddenly, another memory surfaced.
That was why Mom never wanted me to make close friends.
Why she always warned me never to hurt anyone.
"She knew..."
"She knew I could hurt them this badly."
All those years, I let people bully me without ever fighting back.
I took a deep breath, forcing myself to calm down.
Everything finally made sense.
Why she never let me travel far from home.
Why she feared every Blood Moon.
Why she always wanted to bring me back to Agrari.
Because she had known my destiny from the very beginning.
Yet that truth only hurt me even more.
"She won't see me so easily this time."
I looked up at the brightening sky.
Tears threatened to fall, but I forced them back.
"I'm not going home."
Not yet.
If Mom kept hiding the truth...
Then I'd uncover it myself.
I wanted to know who Maxim really was.
I would find Agrari on my own.
And most importantly...
I wanted to know why my father had never searched for me.
With newfound determination, I gathered the few scraps of clothing that were still wearable. After dressing as best I could, I walked out of the forest without looking back.
"Agrari..."
I whispered the name.
"Wait for me."
---
Unbeknownst to me, a pair of glowing crimson eyes watched my every step from deep within the trees.
The hooded figure smiled faintly.
"So... the heir of the Sacred Blood has finally chosen to come on his own."
The figure vanished into the shadows, leaving behind only a chilling breeze—a silent omen that Bryan's journey to Agrari would be far more dangerous than he imagined.
---
The journey to Agrari took several days.
The paved roads gradually became rocky paths before disappearing completely beneath the endless wilderness.
The air here felt... different.
Although the surroundings didn't look much different from the human world, the atmosphere was fresher, richer with life.
For some reason, ever since entering this region, I couldn't shake the feeling that someone was watching me.
Or perhaps...
Something inside me was speaking.
"Welcome... home."
I stopped walking.
A chill ran down my spine.
Then I remembered.
There was a wolf living inside me now.
"Don't tell me..."
"This is Agrari?"
Before me stood a gigantic moss-covered stone. Carved into its surface was the image of a wolf howling at the moon.
I gently brushed my fingers across the carving.
Without warning, my palm began glowing with a soft blue light.
Rumble...
The ground trembled beneath my feet.
Startled, I jerked my hand away.
A narrow passage slowly opened behind the thick bushes.
"Is this... the entrance?"
Swallowing nervously, I stepped inside.
The deeper I ventured, the more breathtaking the forest became.
Towering trees stretched toward the sky, their leaves shimmering in silver-green hues.
Strange birds soared through the branches.
Glowing butterflies drifted through the air like living stars.
This place was nothing like the human world.
Not wanting to be seen, I avoided the main trails, hiding behind trees whenever I heard footsteps or distant wolf howls.
"I don't know who I can trust yet," I murmured.
A while later, the roar of rushing water caught my attention.
I followed the sound until I reached a valley.
My eyes widened.
A magnificent waterfall cascaded from towering cliffs into a crystal-clear turquoise pool. Mist danced gracefully through the air while wildflowers bloomed along the riverbanks.
"Incredible..."
I'd never seen anything so beautiful.
As I admired the scenery, the sound of splashing water echoed nearby.
I turned.
Someone stood in the middle of the river.
A young woman.
She held a sword with flawless discipline, training like a legendary warrior.
Her long silver hair shimmered beneath the sunlight.
Her sapphire-blue eyes remained sharp and focused as she practiced each strike.
She wore a soldier's uniform, yet the crest hanging from the necklace around her neck clearly marked her as nobility.
For a moment, I remained hidden behind the bushes, unable to look away.
Somehow...
Looking at her felt strangely familiar.
Silver hair.
Fair skin.
Blue eyes.
She looked like someone from my own kind.
Even the aura surrounding her felt astonishingly similar to mine.
She was the first to break the silence.
With a swift motion of her hand, a massive surge of water exploded toward me.
The powerful current slammed into my body and hurled me backward.
Before I could recover, she dashed forward and tackled me to the ground.
I made no attempt to fight back.
"Who are you?"
I slowly stood, raising both hands.
"Easy. I'm not here looking for trouble."
She stepped out of the river calmly.
"I can smell a werewolf."
Instinctively, I sniffed my own scent.
"You seem to know more about me than I do," I admitted.
She frowned.
"What brought you here?"
I smiled bitterly.
"I'm trying to find the answer to that myself."
She immediately swung her sword again.
Its gleaming blade reflected in my blue eyes.
"You're a blue-eyed wolf?"
"Yeah..." I chuckled softly. "We look like we're from the same pack. Would you... be willing to be my friend?"
"What do you mean?"
I let out a weary sigh.
"A few days ago... I transformed into a wolf. Before that, I was just an ordinary teenager enjoying my school vacation."
Her expression instantly changed.
"You...?!"
"You're a mixed-blood werewolf!"
She prepared to attack again.
This time, I instinctively deflected her strike, sending her stumbling backward.
She immediately manipulated the river, launching another torrent toward me.
Without thinking, something deep inside me awakened.
Power burst from my body on pure instinct.
She froze.
Her eyes widened as she stared at me in disbelief.
"Where... did you get that power?"
"What power?"
"I don't even know how I did it."
She clenched her jaw in frustration.
"Only members of the White Wolf Royal Bloodline possess the power to command storms!"
"Royal blood?"
She stared at me, shock filling her eyes.
"Who are you?"
I fell silent for a moment before answering.
"Bryan."
She exhaled slowly.
"You've been living alone?"
"Don't you have a pack?"
I lowered my gaze.
"I know my parents' names..."
"But I don't want them to find me just yet."
"I want to investigate this place..."
"And uncover the truth about who I really am... on my own."
