Silent in chains

I looked down at my mom and dad's tombstone as I laid the violets down. I miss them so much and sometimes it gets really lonely living by myself, especially on the holidays, but Silas, my best friend, invites me over during all the holidays to spend time with him and his family. It makes me happy and when I'm around them I don't feel all alone, they're like family to me. I don't have any other relatives. Well, I do, but they don't like me. I'm an only child. My grandparents died three years apart. I was fourteen at the time, but my parents' death hit harder than my grandparents. I know it's because they raised me and everything, but I didn't expect it to feel like that. I stood looking down at the tombstones where the flowers lay around. '' Hey mom and dad, I miss you guys so much. It gets lonely in the house sometimes, but I'm not always home. Sometimes I go out and Silas comes with me, sometimes along with a couple of other friends. Most of the time I'm reading and learning about new things.'' I smiled a little then sighed '' I'm late on the rent and I just got fired. But I know everything will get better soon. I just have to keep faith and hope. I love you guys.'' Closing my eyes for a split second with a small smile on my face, I turned around, headed back to my car and drove off. ****************************************** ''Get your head out of that damn book and let's go out'' Silas said as he barged into my house, making his way to the living room where I was sitting. ''Hello to you also'' I let out a laugh and sat my book down.'' What's wrong Buttercup'' he looked at me. His eyebrows furrowed a bit. ''Nothing wrong'' I lied, but I didn't want him to worry about me or anything. '' You know I know when you're lying, but I can tell you don't want to talk about it, so I won't pressure you to tell me.'' I try and smile as I fidget with my fingers while looking down at them. '' Hey'' he moves closer to me and, placing his hand under my chin and lifting it with his index finger '' you don't have to tell me right now if you're not ready, but just remember I am here, for you know no matter what. I have you, Buttercup.'' I nodded with a slight smile '' I know thank you Silas.'' '' No problem, babe '' he winked, and we both ended up bursting out in laughter. '' Yeah I'm going to get ready now'' as I was turning around, he yelled out '' don't take too long, I will drag you out naked.'' I found one of my robes and headed to the bathroom, turning the shower on, making sure it was at the right temperature, before getting in. Stepping in, I felt the warm water hit my skin as my hair started to get damp, causing waves. Turning around, I grab my cotton candy sugar scrub. And after, I used my cotton candy body wash, I turned the water off. Stepping out of the shower, I started to dry my body off and moisturize. '' Hey Silas, where are we going?'' Stepping out of the bathroom, his eyes met mine as he looked up from his phone while sitting on the couch. '' You can dress however you like'' he said with a smile and sitting up from his seat and I nodded. Heading into my room, I opened my closet door and took out a pair of blue jeans and a black croptop hoodie and a pair of thigh high heels. I walked over to my mirror, grabbing a watch to wear while diamond chains hung from my neck, and wearing that match them. A little lipgloss. After all, I don't wear makeup anyway. I took a second glance at myself before grabbing everything I needed, which wasn't much, then headed back to the living room. '' Are you ready cupcake? '' I looked at him then nodded '' yeah I'm ready for whatever rollercoaster you're about to take me on, well I hope I am'' I said the last part in a whisper, but by the way he slightly laughed at me he heard. '' You'll be fine, I promise.'' I looked up at him and he looked at me with full honesty. '' Okay, then lover boy let's go.'' He smiled then went to open the door, opening it as we both exited and headed to his car. I turned the radio on as he started to drive out of the parking lot. '' So where are we going?" He looked over at me with a devilish smile " you'll see.'' I shook my head and turned to face the window, watching the trees pass by as the sun started to set. Sunsets always seemed beautiful to me. The change in the colors, how they aren't the same, all different and unique like everyone else on earth. They might maven the same colors sometimes, but the pattern that is created is rare to see it twice unless you paint or draw it out to keep for a lifetime or sail for others to see. I looked over at Silas as he bobbed his head to the music that was playing on the radio. I smiled as I took a deep breath. Getting back in my thoughts, I wonder how I'm going to pay the rent and the car bill. I need my car to get around and to find a job, but none are available at the moment. I've been looking for some, yet patience is key and that's just what I'm going to do. I'm just going to wait for one to come my way. At least I hope one will come my way soon. I was snapped back out of my thoughts when I felt Silas lightly shaking me. Looking over at him, I lightly furrowed my eyebrows as I started to sit up. Looking around, I noticed we were in a drive-through at a Dairy queen. '' What is it, Sias,'' he looked over at me with concern in his eyes. '' I was asking what type of smoothie you want'' he raised an eyebrow at me and if he could tell that something was going on with me he didn't say anything about it once again. '' Oh yeah, I want a strawberry sundae'' I smiled at him and he nodded. After I went back to looking out the window, my eyes once again started focusing on the sunset as he started to move up in the line. ****************************************** '' We're here'' I looked around the now dark sky, scanning the area we were now in. I slightly smiled, looking over at Sias as he had a huge smile on his face. '' You got me out the house to go to a club'' I raised my eyebrows. '' Yep, now get out and let's go have some fun'' he said with a smile and I nodded. Stepping out of the car, I made my way to where he was as we started to walk in line, but he moved to the front instead of the back. '' Um Silas, the line is back there'' I looked over to the end of the line, which was huge. Where were we anyway? I've never been here before. '' Just follow Rosey'' I raised an eyebrow at him, then shrugged it off and followed him to the front of the line.As we made it to the front of the line, the security guard turned to us. '' What are you doing here, Silas? I thought you wouldn't be back for another week or was it two? '' The security guard said with a small smile, then turned his attention to a girl who was about to snick in, but he stared her down and she stood still in fear. Not sure why he doesn't look scary to me. Hell, he just looks big and buff and that's really it. '' Yeah well, change of plans I came back early. My friend needed to have some fun and I thought this would be a good place to do it'' he looked over at me with a smile. The buff guy turned to look at me '' nice to meet you. Any friend of his is a friend of mine.'' He gave me a warm smile and I returned it '' I would say the same, but I don't like all of his friends, so if I said that it would be a lie.'' We all started to laugh. '' At least you're honest. I respect that. I hope we can become good friends one of these days'' I nodded while looking up at him '' I agree.'' After that, he let us pass, letting us inside of this club. I must say it is well designed with different reds and blacks and the lights of other colors flashing through the room. The music was loud and everyone was dancing and if not, then they were at the bar. As Silas led me through the crowd I noticed that there was an elevator that led up somewhere. I wonder where it leads to and what's going on in the place that it is headed. We went to the couch area with a table around and sat. '' This looks nice, I like how it's decorated and has taste instead of none at all'' I looked over at Sias as he laughed at me. '' What's funny?'' He looked at me then looked at as if something had caught his eye and of course nothing did. '' Oh nothing'' he said as he called a waiter over. She wore ripped black jeans and a croptop that said daddy on it while some of her cleavage showed. '' Whiskey please'' she smiled and nodded. '' I see you're back early. I thought it was supposed to be two weeks from now until you came?'' He shook his head '' yes well, things happen and I'm back early.'' She nodded then left to go get his drink. '' Okay now, back to what I was saying'' he looked over at me '' what were you even saying'' he rubbed his hand over his face as if he was trying to remember. '' Silas I will kick your ass'' he just laughed as the girl came back to our table, with his drink, setting it down, then heading back to the bar. Picking up his drink and taking a sip, he looks over at me. '' Rose, everywhere you go you check your surroundings and how the place looks. You observe everything about anyone and any object or place incase you come back later, but maybe you're just bored or just because.'' He took another sip of his drink '' Yeah you got a point.'' Sias turned his attention back on me, then smiled '' now this may not be the best timing, but what was going on with you earlier? You seemed off as if something was bothering you. What was wrong?'' I sighed then finally told him what had been bothering me all day '' I went to see my mom and dad today'' I looked down at my hands as he lightly smiled with a sad look. '' I'm also late on the rent and I got fired today simply because their shutting down and I have to pay the full amount of money next Friday'' I sighed. '' I barely have enough to pay my phone or car bill. How will I pay for the house? I'm trying to stay hopeful and I pray everything will come together and soon too, because it's not happening fast enough.'' I sat back on the couch then looked over to Silas '' What should I do?'' He smiled at me '' do you really need to ask? You can move in with me if everything doesn't go the way you want it to. Your parents would want you to be happy and safe rather than stressing over something you can't control. As long as you try, that's all that matters." I smiled '' you're right''. He smiled then lightly hit my shoulder '' of course I am.'' After awhile, I noticed him and some girl staring at each other. This b***h is trying to get laid and I'm not going to be the reason he doesn't get laid either. '' Sias, you can go with her'' he looked over at me '' no I can't leave you alone. I came here with you and I'm going to stay and party with you.'' I shook my head at him '' Sias go and have fun. I'll be fine'' I lightly smiled at him '' are you sure, Rose, I don't want you to think I don't want to hang with you when I-'' I cut him off, grabbed his arm, pulling him up '' Damn your strength'' I laughed at him '' go have fun. Just don't bring any kids back home.'' He saluted '' Yes ma'am, but if you need me just call or find me'' I nodded '' yeah, yeah go'' and with that he disappeared in the crowd. ****************************************** '' What would you like to drink miss'' the bartender asked '' um do you have candy or something and Hennessey?'' He smirked at me as he grabbed a glass and started to fill it with the drink I asked for '' and yes, we have candy. What would you like sweetness? '' He moved closer and I smiled '' do you have sour strips'' he nodded, turning to a drawer, taking a bag out and handing it to me '' thank you'' I turned to pay for it, but he stopped me. '' Don't worry about it, it's on me.'' I smiled then thanked him once again. About fifteen minutes later and another drink, I started to head back over to the couch I was sitting on, but ended up going on the dancefloor to get there. Squeezing through the crowd that jumped, twirled and threw their hands up in the air, I was met by a girl now in front of me. '' Dance with me'' she smiled at me as she moved her body to the rhythm of the music. '' I can't, I have to get back to my friend. He is waiting for me'' she kept moving and grabbed my hand, pulling me deeper into the crowded dancefloor as everyone moved their bodies on others and just enjoyed themselves. Oh f**k it, Silas might still be with that girl anyway, probably still f*****g or something, but if he had left me here, oh I would kick his ass. I sighed, I need to let loose a little and have some fun. I've been stressing so much that a little fun wouldn't hurt. f**k it. '' Come on let's have some fun'' I smiled at her '' Let's party'' I yelled. And with that, we swayed our bodies to the music, then headed to the bar for a drink. '' My name is Maddie'' she yelled so I could hear her over the music, '' Nice to meet you I'm Rose.'' She gasped '' really you're named after a flower that's so cool! I always, well, as long as I can remember, I wanted to be named after a flower, specifically Jasmine. That's what I wanted my name to be.'' I looked at her and smiled as her eyes shined even with the disco lights going '' why don't you just change your name then or name your future kid, that of course.'' She smiled brighter. '' Yes that's what I was thinking. I'll just name my future child that. After all, I still like my name'' she shrugged and took the last sip of her drink. '' We're going to be the bestest friends ever!'' I laughed as she dragged me back to the dance floor '' I believe you're right'' and with that we started to dance once again. '' Hey I have to use the restroom, I'll be right back'' I smiled at her as she disappeared. I kept dancing, but after about twenty-five minutes she still hadn't returned. I started to look around in the crowd when I felt someone grab my arm and rush me out of the crowd. '' Silas?'' He looked back at me and then back forward. He kept looking around as if someone was following him. I have almost tripped four times now. '' Silas what's going on'' we made it outside and past the security guard from earlier and he looked over at us. '' I hope you guys had fun tonight and I hope to see you again Silas.'' Even though he was talking I'm sure Silas didn't hear anything he said. I pulled away from him as we made it to his car. '' What the hell is wrong with you? What's wrong?'' He kept looking around and tried to pull me into the car. '' Rose I f****d up. I messed up really really badly. Did someone come near you tonight? Did anyone act funny to you or anything?'' He looked at me with fear in his eyes. And I just shook my head. '' No everyone seemed fine like they were having fun, but wait, there was a girl, Maddie, but she disappeared into the restroom and never came back.'' He hit his hand on the car '' Sias, what did you do?What have you gotten yourself into? '' Looking at me, his eyes started to turn red. '' I-'' he swallowed and lowered his head '' I did something really bad and the people that I f****d with aren't good people at all. They are dangerous.'' I looked at him with confusion in my eyes '' what did you do that's so bad?'' Shaking his head, he hit his hand on the car once again ''I have to leave the country. I have to move. I can't stay here anymore.'' I raised my eyebrows as my heart started to speed up '' Si-'' he cut me off. '' Get in the car Rose'' instead of arguing with him, I got into the car and he quickly did the same, stepping on the gas and driving off. Fifty minutes into the drive, I looked over at him '' Silas, everything will be okay.'' I gave him a warm smile as he turned to look at me '' I hope you're right, but if everything doesn't go as planned don't stop fighting,please.'' '' I will continue to fight until I meet glory.'' We both smiled at each other when a car from each side of the road crashed into us and everything went black. ****************************************** I woke up with my head spinning in circles and my arm and sides in pain. Lifting my head up, I noticed Silas on the other side of the room. He was beaten and I could tell he was in pain even if he had't said anything. Silas was light skinned and almost six feet tall. His black and blond dyed hair was a mess, his shaved face was now bloody and bruised. I tried to stand and run over to him, but I quickly realized my wrists were chained to the wall. '' Silas'' I whispered a cry. He laid on his side on the ground '' Silas.'' I said a little louder and he started to move up. His eyes shot up open and made contact with mine as he started to sit up. '' Are you okay? Did they hurt you?'' I looked at him shaking my head. " I'm fine they haven't done anything to me. No one has been in here. I woke up not long ago. Silas, are you okay? How bad is the pain?'' He is sitting up fully now. '' Nothing I can't handle. I'm just happy they haven't done anything to you. I wouldn't be able to forgive myself for that. '' Silas, what did you do? You have to tell me.'' He looked up at me then started to spill everything that happened. '' Those two weeks I was gone when I said I was going on a trip, a much needed one.'' I looked at him and nodded, telling him to go on. '' I went into mafia territory thinking they wouldn't know that I was stealing pounds of drugs, weapons, and money.'' He looked down, '' but they found out and they want it back.'' My mouth fell agape '' give it back then if that's all they want, just give it to them'' I angrily screamed in a whisper. His head shot up as he stared me in the eyes. '' I can't. I used the drugs to sell for my mom's cancer treatments and the hospital bills and more bills on top of that. I can't, I don't have it.'' He looked up, tears pouring down his face. '' I just wanted to help her. My bastard of a father doesn't give a s**t and my sister is waiting for her to die so she can get whatever is in the will for her, if there is anything for her, of course.'' I looked at him and then sniffled. ''It's okay, we will get through this and destroy them.'' He looked up at me '' you were the one to always see things on the brightside, no matter what the situation was.'' We both laughed a little. '' Hey, everything will be okay as long as we have each other we can do anything, right?'' I smiled at him and he nodded. '' Rosey, cupcake'' he smiled while looking me in the eyes. '' If I haven't -'' I cut him off '' hey we will be okay, no need for-'' '' Rose stop it'' he kept his eyes locked with mine '' you are the best friend shit..., you're my sister and the most amazing person I have ever met in my whole life. You're more of a sister than my own and even though I tell you this so much, you just don't know how true it is.'' I smiled at him '' you are the brother I always wanted hell half the time I forget we aren't related.'' '' Rose, if I don't make it out of here alive, don't stop flying'' I looked at him confused. '' Flying?'' He smiled '' you'll understand one day.'' '' Hey you remember when I told you about my first girlfriend and she broke me'' I nodded. '' I was so ready to kick her ass and when I got the chance I did not hesitate." He smiled. '' you did kick her ass and she was too afraid to snitch. Matter of fact, she never talked to me again.'' I looked up at him '' snitches get stitches and I know for a fact she didn't want extra.'' We laughed some more, talking about old memories from when we were growing up. When my parents were alive and when his parents were actually good together instead of now. When my parents are dead, his mom is battling cancer, and his dad is a douchebag and taking care of his new family and forgetting about his first born as if they never existed in the first place. '' You make every day interesting'' he smiled and I did as well. '' You make me want to do something different each and everyday. Honestly, if you never came into my life, I don't know how I would have done this shit.'' '' Cupcake, you're braver than you think, but stay that way. Don't let anyone break you, no matter how hard it gets or how bad it gets. Keep fighting, because that's what you do. You're a fighter, not a quitter. You weren't when you were younger, so don't start now.'' I nodded I never will. And with that the doors busted open '' Silas Salvatore, you took my s**t. I let you into my group and you took what was mine.'' He grabbed the back of Silas's head '' You know what happens when people take what's mine. Well do you?'' Silas looked at him, but stayed quiet. '' Okay then don't speak'' the man said. I looked over to the door and six more men came into the room. What are they going to do to him? My heartbeat started to speed up as the only person I could see was him. The man standing in front of Silas, I'm guessing, is the boss. Looking over at one of his guys, they hand him a knife. '' Beat him'' and as soon as he gave that order, they started to attack him with punches and kicks. He started to throw up blood and I couldn't take it. I screamed out '' leave him alone.'' 'The dude that gave the orders turned to look at me then smirked '' boys stop.'' I started to breathe heavier than I was before, but not because this stupid dude was walking over to me, because of my brother Sias. He looked worse than before and his eyebrows were now split. '' Leave her alone'' Silas said and I could tell it hurt to talk by how he sounded. '' Now who are you'' the man grabbed my chin, forcing me to look at him, but I spit in his face. He stared into my eyes then gave me a nasty smirk. '' She's feisty. I like it. I can't wait to break you.'' And with that he slapped me, making my lip bust open, but I wasn't bothered by that. I had my eyes on Silas the whole time. '' Stay quiet or I'll make it worse for the pretty boy'' and as soon as he said that, I kept quiet and as much as I hated that I did, I didn't want Silas to be in pain anymore. '' That's what I thought.'' I bit my tongue so hard it started to bleed. He went back over to where Silas was and started to cut his clothes off. '' I'm sure the ladies like your package hu'' Silas was angry, but even though he was, he still didn't say anything. He kept quiet. That just made the guy angrier. He lifted his fist and punched Silas in the stomach, causing blood to come out of his mouth once again. '' Please stop, you said you wouldn't make his pain worse!'' Even though I knew what he had told me about not making his pain worse was a lie, I still wanted it to be true. '' Shut her up'' and with that one of the guys came over to me, punching me in my stomach as I head butted him. Making his nose gush out with blood, but another guy came over and started to punch me on the side. '' Get your f*****g hands off of her! Stop hitting her!'' Silas said once again, only for them to start hitting on him again. They kept hitting us until we fell to our knees.'' '' See everyone does what I want, whether they like it or not and you little missy, you'll learn'' the boss guy glared over at me as I spat blood on one of his guys' shoes, earning me another kick to my side. I winced in pain. That quickly faded when two guys started to chain Silas's ankles to the ground, making him stand up while his arms were in the air. '' What are you doing! What are you doing to him? '' They ignored me as if they couldn't hear me as I watched everything they did. I started to stand back up, ignoring the pain in my body. That's when the boss guy took the knife back out from earlier. The one that one of his guys had given him. '' Shh angel quiet'' I looked at the boss guy as he tried to keep me quiet. Silas kept his eyes locked on mine. '' I love you, don't stop flying,stay strong, be brave, fight, little sis, Cupcake, Rose, fight.'' Tears started to pour down my face as my eyes stayed locked with mine and he gave me one last smile. The boss man started to trace his knife around his back. Silas looked as if he were in pain, but I didn't know what was going on. I started to look around the room when I noticed everyone of his men had a knife in their hand. The boss man smiled devilishly '' bye bye now.'' All the guys surrounded Silas, but made sure that I could see everything that was happening. Silas screamed bloody marry as the boss man chopped his d**k off and I just couldn't believe my eyes. All the guys in the room started stabbing him everywhere as I screamed louder and louder. Pulling on the chains, trying to get closer to him as blood started to pool on the floor. I kept pulling on the chains as it started to cut my wrist. The boss man still stood behind Sias with a smirk staring at me while I stared back into Silas's eyes that were starting to go elsewhere. And before I knew it, he was slicing his mouth open. I just stared, my heart stopped beating and I fell to my knees as his mouth hung open and stab wounds kept pouring out blood. Silas was only twenty-four. '' From now on, call me Master S. Welcome home puppet.''
