When David finished work, he made a quick stop at home for a shower, then headed for the park. He spotted Bertha and Amos shortly after entering the park. He started walking toward Bertha. She had her back to him and did not see him coming. Bertha was paying attention to Amos as he played in the sandbox. David came up behind her and put his arms around her.
She jumped, but when she looked over her shoulder and saw David grinning at her, she turned and raised her face for a kiss. David was happy to oblige. Amos glanced at his mom and spotted David. He hurried out of the sandbox and ran toward David and his mom.
He ran up to David and put his arms around David’s legs. David reached down and lifted Amos up between the two of them. “How are you doing today, big fellow?” he inquired.
