CHAPTER THIRTY-TWO My lungs burn as I dodge between towering pines, the earthy scent of damp soil and decaying leaves heavy in the air. The rogue wolves' howls fade behind me, swallowed by the deep ravine that yawns wide at my back. I've lost them, for now. My heart hammers against my ribcage, a wild drumbeat urging me to keep moving. I skirt the edge of the ravine, peering into its shadowed depths.
