When Nile opened her eyes,it was morning, she yawned and covering her mouth with her hand, she stretched still sitting with both hands in the air,it was then that she actually realised that something wasn't right, first she had yawned, then covered her mouth with her hands and now she had stretched, forces of habit but how could she do all these when she was bound hands, legs and mouth? She lifted her hands again and looked at them, looked at her legs and realised she was no longer bound, her hands, feet and mouth were loose, she turned to look at the spot she was sitting and discovered that she had slept on the ground but a cloth had been folded and placed beneath her head,so he had loosed her,and even made a pillow for her head and when did he so carefully arrange her to lie on the ground? how came she hadn't felt any of these? She smiled,it gladdened her heart for some reason that he had taken care of her again,no doubt she had slept like a baby.Where was he anyway? Nile looked around and he was nowhere to be found.Nile stood up,closed her eyes and breath in the fresh sea air deeply and smiled, she felt really good this morning,as if she had slept in the arms of the man she loved, her heart skipped a little at this thought and she laughed out loud, she wondered what it would be like to go to bed every night and wake up with a man she loved and who loved her,how it would feel to walk along the beach holding hands, laughing, running, how it would feel to cook and serve him dinner. For the first time,Nile felt like she had a chance of experiencing all these,in barely two days with this man,and with just a look, touch and a little care,he had stirred such strong emotions in her and succeeded in giving her a little hope in love.
Nile was startled by closing foot steps on dry leaves, when she turned,it was Desmond carrying a small bucket of water and five fishes hanging from a rope. Her first instinct was to go to him and help collect the bucket of water but she stopped herself, she didn't want to appear as though she had been waiting for him or thinking of him,so she stood where she was and instead greeted him.
Ignoreing her greeting,Desmond placed the bucket of water down carefully and said still holding the fish" you can use the water to do your business, just hide behind that thicket,I couldn't get any cloth so you'll have to repeat the one you have on until I can get another".Nile muttered a "thanks", to which she received no reply either, instead,Desmond put together dry woods and lit the fire, cleaned the fishes and started the process of roasting leaving Nile still standing there,Desmond knew she had questions,he expected her to fire them away,he was in no mood for questions but he knew he couldn't avoid them so he was preparing his answers when she slowly picked up the bucket of water and moved to the spot he had suggested behind the thicket to do her morning duty.He was surprise she had not asked her questions, was she suddenly scared or just shy? No,she had shown so much courage in the short time he had known her,she was bold, courageous and annoyingly outspoken,so why hadn't she asked him questions? he knew she had them, maybe she didn't think that was the right time, just as well,he didn't think it was the right time either.
Desmond had successfully contacted the boss from a pay phone at the diner near the beach,he had woke up really early and walked the distance to the diner,he couldn't keep her another day,she was already too dangerous to his peace of mind with her eyes, smile, her beauty and courage and just a touch from her was enough to make him hard.If he kept her any longer,he was positive he will do something they might both regret.
When they had looked at the stars the previous night and talked and laughed, just that brief moment had got his heart racing like a sports car on a marathon,he had wanted to kiss her real bad,to taste her lips and feel her heart beating against his chest. He had been with women ,a lot of them,of all class and shapes but never had he wanted a woman like this, the feeling was getting fierce and intense by the hour, instead of thinking about the mess he was in,he had been thinking about her all night. He wanted her, every inch of her and he wasn't sure he could control himself much longer. When she had talked to him the night before with so much pain, hurt, desire and loneliness in her eyes,he had wanted to tell her everything he had been through too,he had wanted to let her know everything about him,he wanted to place her head on his shoulders and assure her that all will be well, let her know he would take away that loneliness and make her happy, the only thing that had stopped him had been the fact that he had remembered reality, she was a princess,a very beautiful, kind hearted, loving, innocent princess and she deserved a better man than him.He was a thief and seducer who owned nothing except the cloths he wore, what could he possibly offer her? she was too good a woman to be treated like the others and as hard as it will be,he will treat her with dignity and give her the respect she deserves.
Nile stood a good distance from where Desmond was roasting the fish for their breakfast and watched him,she imagined them been a couple here in this forest on vacation, having a nice quiet time, they'd watch the stars every night and go to bed in each other's arms, they'd wake up early with his arms wrapped around her as they watch the sun rise, they could go mountain climbing and in the evening they'd walk along the beach holding hands, they'd make love in the sun and feel their hearts beat together. She shook her head at these absurd thoughts and smiled,he might not be the hard hearted criminal he was pretending to be but she wasn't sure he was a romantic,he didn't strike her as the kind of man who will be into such things,he was too hot and good looking to be into all these romantic stuff and even if he was,why would he feel that way about her,she was sure he was used to all those beautiful women who had class and knew how to seduce a man,all those women who always hung out in clubs and are very sexually skilled, she was just a princess who had lived almost all her life in the palace and didn't know the first thing about relationships, all she knew about s*x were the things she'd read, she didn't even know what she was supposed to do to make a man want her,why would he even be attracted to her?Maybe the way he'd looked at her and cared for her meant nothing to him, maybe it was just all in her head.Could he actually be feeling what she's feeling now? Nile smiled to herself, that wasn't likely.
She walked over to him" thanks again for the water, you didn't have to go that far just to get me water". He answered" I didn't go there just to get you water,I had business there,I just had the chance of running into a friend who could lend me the bucket'. Nile shrugged" thanks all the same,I feel much better". Desmond placed some fish on plantain leaves and placed on the ground" sit and have something to eat".She sat down and stared at the food instead,Desmond sighed deeply and said" ok,out with it,what so you want to know?".She lifted her gaze and looked up at him" why did you loose me? ".Desmond looked at her,he had loose her while she slept, she had been sleeping so soundly, looking so pretty he had wanted to stare at her the whole night,it had felt foolish letting her sleep tied considering the way he felt about her.He had even arranged a pillow for her to make her comfortable, some kidnapper he was, right? He cleared his throat "you didn't look comfortable sleeping like that",she shook her head in acceptance" but weren't you worried I might try to escape?",he smiled, that smile that made her hear skipped like a young calf"I thought you might", Nile looked surprise" and yet you took the risk of loosing me and leaving me alone?", " trust me,it was worth it,you sleep like an angel" he replied.Their eyes locked, they were really close to each other, their hearts beating fast and as if pulled by a powerful force, she reached out and placed her hand oh His cheek and very lightly squeezed,Desmond couldn't hold back any longer,he took her face in both hands and before she could say anything, his lips claimed hers, and it felt like something exploded in them.
Desmond had expected Nile to push or slap him but instead, she had opened up to him like a flower not only letting him explore every inch of her mouth but also kissing him back, she gave as much as she received. He was amazed at how completely she surrendered herself to him,she didn't hold back,no woman had ever surrendered to him totally, they always held back.He broke the kiss against his will and held her face a few inches from him,her eyes were still closed and the pleasure on her face almost made him regret breaking the kiss. She was as innocent as a rose and Desmond knew without a doubt that he was the first man she had ever kissed deeply. The thought made him shiver and tingle with pleasure,he liked the fact that he was the first man that had been this intimate with her,he wished he could be the first and only man to burry himself in her, possessed her and make her his alone,he almost laughed at himself at the thought,he wasn't the man for her,she deserved better. If the way she had reacted to his kiss was any indication of how she felt, then he had better do something,he couldn't afford to be selfish, not with her,she was too precious. He would do everything to stop whatever was brewing up between them even if it means making her hate him,it would be better for her,he would only hurt her.He could never be the man she deserves.
Nile slowly opened her eyes and came back to reality, she had no idea how long he had been holding her face in his hands but he suddenly dropped his hands as if her face had became hot, that was when she had opened her eyes, she bend her head and smiled shyly, she had no idea what to say, just as she was about to speak,he cleared his throat and spoke very matter off factly"well, now that that's out of the way, let's go back to the plan, later in the day we're going to meet someone, till then,I'll look around if I can find anything edible for lunch, you just stay and do..........whatever".He walked away leaving Nile shocked, mad and confused, she closed both hands in a fist and followed him, there's no way he would kiss her the way he just did and act as though nothing happened.
She walked up to him and stepping in front of him,she looked him straight in the eyes" how can you act as though nothing happened? don't you think we should talk about this?" Desmond gathered all the will and courage he had and looked her in the eyes"there's nothing to talk about,we kissed and that's all, happens everyday, everywhere,no big deal" he said smiling.Nile almost hit him in the face, how could it not be a big deal? was he for real? was she the only one affected by all this? no,she just couldn't believe it,she refused to believe it" we made love and you say it's not a big deal? what we shared wasn't ordinary and you know it".Desmond pretended to look surprised" you call that making love,I understand it's your first but you didn't expect me to go down on my knees and ask you to marry me did you?".Nile almost exploded with anger and frustration,he had looked at her, head lifted while saying that, could it really be true? she asked" so,you're saying it meant nothing to you?",Desmond breath heavily" nope, not a thing, just two adults experimenting, let's pretend it never happened",he expected her to burst out and yell or curse him, that would've been ok,at least it would show him she was hurt by his words which would mean his hunch was right, she felt something for him too but instead, she had replied calmly" ok then, thank you for the good time and you're right,it never happened",she smiled at him and turned to go but turned back and said" and oh,for the record, that wasn't my first, not the best but it was good",she walked away, leaving him dumbfounded and really mad.Wasnt her first?does that mean she had opened up to someone else like this? no,it couldn't be and not the best? for him it was great and he knew it was for her too.He was the first and only one to taste her, Desmond was mad with jealousy just at the thought of another man haven touched her,it couldn't be.
It took Nile all the self control she had to walk away without tripping, she had a slight smile of victory on her face, she was really hurt by his words,it wasn't what she had expected, and no matter how much she had fantasied about them and no matter how she felt, she wasn't a fool and will not be made a fool of,she was a princess after all and had her dignity to maintain, never again will she throw herself at him like this, from now on,it's strictly formal. Her composure and response had meant to hurt him too,and she sensed by the tenseness of his jaws and fists that it had worked. She smiled to herself, lifter her head and shoulders high and walked to where they had been eating breakfast, with her back to where he was still standing, she breath in and out heavily and started picking up leaves while humming.
Desmond walked about the forest searching for nothing in particular,he had no idea why he was so restless and frustrated, why was he so mad at what Nile had said,he should be happy that his plan had worked, that he had hurt her feelings and made her hate him,it was the plan,to stop any feeling they had for each other but he couldn't bring himself to accept the fact that she had accepted it so easily and worst,he couldn't stomach the thought of Nile with someone else,if he couldn't bear the thought that some other man had made love to her in the past, how did he expect to live with the thought that some other man would have her forever?. Desmond cursed, sat down and consoled himself with the fact that by the end of the day, she'd no longer be with him,he was going to hand her over to the boss in exchange for his freedom and go somewhere for a little break,a few days in the sun will help put these feelings behind him.
