Semira

Lila’s POV. The first thing I noticed when I woke up was that my body was still aching from the events of the previous day. The memory of Kwan's takeover still haunted me, and I couldn't just shake off the fear that it would happen again, because it could. Very easily too. Raze had been distant, and his anger was seemingly justified. And I knew I had to face the Council again, but the thought filled me with dread. As I got dressed, I couldn't help but feel a sense of foreboding. The Council was known to be ruthless, and I had experienced that. I knew that they would stop at nothing to ensure the safety of the pack. I also knew they saw me as a threat, and I was terrified of what they might decide. When I entered the main hall, Raze was already there, his expression grim. The other Council members were seated, their faces stern and unyielding. For all I knew, I could cry blood and sweat, and they would be out for me. Councilwoman Kate, in particular, looked at me with thinly veiled contempt. “We are here to discuss the incident that occurred yesterday.” Councilwoman Kate began, her voice cold and authoritative. “Lila, you have shown that you are unable to control the demon wolf within you. This poses a significant threat to the pack, and I’m sure you know what that means.” I swallowed hard, my heart pounding in my chest. “Look, I... I didn't mean for it to happen. Kwan took over, and I couldn't stop him. I didn’t do it on purpose.” Kate's eyes narrowed. “That's precisely the problem. We cannot afford to have someone so unstable in our midst. The safety of the pack comes first.” “I will help her control the wolf.” Raze interjected, his voice firm and cold. “I promised to protect her, and I intend to keep that promise.” Kate scoffed, her disdain evident. “With all due respect, alpha, what makes you think you can succeed where others have failed? You are good at what you do, yes, but this is something else entirely. Lila is a danger to us all. The only solution is to eliminate the threat.” I felt a lump form in my throat, and I struggled to keep my composure. Raze's support meant everything to me, but I knew the odds were against us. The Council was not easily swayed. “I believe in her.” Raze said. “Lila has the potential to control Kwan. She just needs the right guidance and support. And all that aside, you will not touch my wife, I assure you. Not without going through me.” Kate's expression turned to fear for a few seconds before it hardened. “This is not a matter of belief or emotions, alpha Raze. It's a matter of survival. If Lila cannot prove that she can control the wolf within her, then we have no choice but to consider more... permanent measures.” My heart sank at her words, and I felt a wave of despair wash over me. I had to find a way to prove myself, to show them that I could be trusted. But how could I do that when I could barely control my own body? “Give us time.” Raze said. “Let me work with her. I believe we can find a way. I’m not asking.” Kate looked around at the other Council members, her expression unreadable. After a moment, she nodded. “Very well. You have one week, Lila. If there is no improvement by then, we will have to take action.” She turned to look at Raze meaningfully. His stare down did not waver, but it seemed like a silent acceptance. The meeting adjourned, and I followed Raze back to our quarters. I knew he was risking a lot by standing up for me, and I couldn't bear the thought of letting him down. As we entered the bedroom, Raze turned to me, his expression not softening in the least. “You have to figure this out, Lila. I won't let them harm you.” I nodded, tears welling up in my eyes. “Thank you, Raze. I don't know what I would do without you.” I started to sob, and threw myself into his arms, and for a moment, I felt a bit of hope. Maybe we could find a way to control Kwan. Maybe there was still a chance for us. For me to be safe. Raze’s POV. I woke up early the next morning, my mind still racing from the Council meeting. It felt like the weight of the world hung heavily on my shoulders, and I knew we had a difficult road ahead. Lila needed to prove that she could control Kwan, and I was determined to help her every step of the way. For some reason, I just couldn’t help it. As I got dressed, I heard a knock at the door. I opened it to find one of the servants, his face pale and anxious. “Alpha Raze, there's been a development. Semira has woken up.” My heart skipped a beat at the news. Semira had since been in a deep slumber, recovering from the injuries inflicted by Lila during the last battle. After being induced to sleep, she didn’t wake up, and that made everyone panic. But if I was being honest, her being awake could also complicate things even further. I needed to end our affair, but I knew with her, it most likely wouldn't be easy. I made my way to Semira's quarters, my mind still racing with thoughts of how to handle the situation with Lila. When I entered, Semira was sitting up in bed, glaring up at me. “What?” I asked, shrugging. “Raze.” She said softly, her voice weak. “What happened? Why am I here?” I stood next to her bed. “You went to Lila, and she attacked you. I’m sure you don’t remember falling asleep after coming here for treatment.” I said, and she nodded. “You brought a predator to our pack!” Semira’s tone was accusing. “She didn't mean to.” I said. “Kwan's influence is strong, and she's struggling to control it. But we're working on it. I promise.” Semira nodded, but I could see the doubt in her eyes. “And what about us, Raze? What happens now?” I took a deep breath, “That’s actually why I came to talk to you. We had our moments, Semira, but our relationship has to end. Not like we ever had a real one in the first place.” “What?” Her voice shook. “My duty is to Lila now, and I need to focus on helping her control Kwan.” I said, not missing a beat. Tears filled Semira's eyes, and she pulled her hand away. “I understand.“ “Good.” I said, turning to leave, but Semira screeched. “Why do I have to be tossed aside? I have always been good to you!” She cried out, and I nodded. There’s the Semira I always knew. “You just said you understood.” I pointed out calmly. “Well, I lied! How dare you try to make a fool out of me because of a woman who only just appeared here recently? How long is she going to be warming your bed?” Semira was spitting venom. “Do not talk about her that way! And if you remember, I was the one who brought her here, she didn’t just appear!” I pointed a finger at her. “And if you know what is good for you, you’d stay out of my way. I’ve got enough problems to deal with already, and I don’t want a glorified w***e adding to them. Understood?” As I left her room, I couldn't help but feel a bit guilty for her. Ending things with Semira was necessary, as I knew that I had to stay focused on helping Lila.
