Lila’s POV
“Put me down this instant! I refuse to be bound to you against my will!!”
I screamed as Alpha Raze carried me on his shoulder through the lengthy corridor that appeared to have no end.
The drive to the Blood Moon Pack was the worst road trip that I have ever been, one fact being Alpha Raze wasn’t very chatty, and the other was that I felt suffocated.
But as he carried me through his mansion, I had to admit that being this close to him wasn’t as bad as I had thought.
The way his hands grabbed my frame, my tiny waist clung tightly to his shoulder, and the faint musky smell of booze and wood almost got me intoxicated.
“Alpha Raze-” a young man stepped out of a room to see what was happening because I knew that I was causing a scene with my screams.
“Not now, Matt!” Alpha Raze boomed. I kept on kicking and fighting as Alpha Raze opened the door to a room.
It was thrice as large as my room back at the Iron Hand Pack. The atmosphere was ominous and haunting, and the room barely got enough light.
As Alpha Raze threw me on the king-sized bed with a thick red duvet, I noticed that there wasn’t a single portrait in the room, not even a mirror to show a reflection.
The room was bare, like it had been stripped of everything that had once made it a wonder.
“There you go. You wanted to be down so much? Enjoy your new home,” Alpha Raze said to me while I curled up on the bed, panting as tears built in the corner of my eyes.
“I hate you!” I said to him.
“You are here to warm my bed, not to love me. Better learn the difference and you will be fine,” he said to me and then moved his large frame to leave me alone in the room.
“So, that’s it? I’m your wife now, but what? I’m nothing more than a glorified s*x-slave?” I barked at him while his hand touched the doorknob. Alpha Raze turned to me with fury in his eyes.
“Now I see why the Moon Goddess never gave you a mate. You are too obnoxious to have one,” Alpha Raze replied to me, and I felt my heart wrench. Then he opened the door and stepped out of the room.
I sat on the bed, wondering what sort of life awaited me here, but when I remembered my true situation and all of my life’s events that had led me to this point, I crashed on the bed and sobbed.
ALPHA RAZE’S POV
She doesn’t know how hard it was for me to step into that room six years after my mate’s death.
All Lila saw was a monster, and I could not blame her. Life has a way of twisting us into things we are not, and in my case, my transformation was most beguiled.
Perhaps someday I’ll tell Lila how I came to become like this, but that’s if she doesn’t kill me first.
“Alpha Raze, what’s happening? Who was that girl?” Matt, my beta, asked as he approached.
He has been my beta since we were twelve, when I was forced to take up the alpha title following my father’s death.
“She’s my new wife. See to it that she’s well taken care of,” I replied without sparing him a glance. Matt froze on the spot, unsure of what I meant.
“I don’t understand, alpha. Does this mean you have a new mate now?” he asked me.
“Do I need to have a mate before I can f**k?” I snapped at him and he quickly bowed his head in submission. “Just do what I asked and do not question me further,” I added and walked away.
Of course, it hurt me to treat Matt that way. He was my most loyal vassal, but the only way I knew to spare him from my troubles was to push him and everyone else away.
I had this feeling that I would not be alive much longer. Losing a mate has a way of snapping your existence apart, and mine was ripped.
All I had to do was concern myself with the welfare of my pack and ensure a smooth and powerful legacy for whoever would take my place when I’m gone.
“If it isn’t my darling Alpha Raze,” I heard a female voice call to me and I stopped.
“Semira. What do you want?” I inquired as the beautiful werewolf came into view. Following the events of my mate’s death, I made terrible choices.
Semira was one of them.
“I want you, Alpha,” she said to me while she wrapped her arms around me. I did not touch her. Then she leaned forward for a kiss and I pushed her away.
Semira gasped and let out a mirthless chuckle.
“Don’t you dare put your hands on me again unless I so command it. Have I made myself clear?” I growled.
“Your attitude has changed, Alpha. Is this about the w***e you just brought into the palace? Oh yes, I heard her screams. We all did. You have a new plaything now, don’t you?” Semira snapped in response.
“Why? Are you jealous?” I arched a brow. Her face darkened while she fought back an explosive anger. She knew better than to push me.
“You will always be mine. I’ll show that b***h that she has no place here!” Semira yelled.
I took a step toward her and she jerked until her back rested on the wall.
Her brown eyes were fixated on mine, and the softness of her lips begged me to kiss them.
“Do not do anything stupid. I’m warning you,” I said to her and pulled myself away as her alluring presence became more difficult to resist.
“She doesn’t belong here! I’ll make sure of that!!”
Semira retorted as I walked away. She could never take no for an answer.
However, as thoughts of Lila filled my mind, I struggled to maintain focus. Was I bewitched by her, or was I finally losing my mind?
